Reading sign 30 year old Midfielder

Capital punishment is a bit much.

The reality is we do need better players in and whilst the window is open until Sept 1 by then the season will be 7 games in.

The infrastructure is in place within the club to recruit, but we haven't- fans are right to question.
Fans can question the club when ever and about what ever they can.

Do you think some of the criticism the club is getting is right because we haven't signed anyone for 2 weeks now? Against what they've delivered for 3 years?

I think people are going over the top.

I wouldn’t want Virtue or Connelly starting every week for us alongside Dougall. Think we’d be weak if that department if that was the case. May be alright squad players but we need more quality.

And I can guarantee if we'd have announced him today, this board would have been in uproar, given his recent history and age.

You wouldnt have been able to move for, 'Past it', 'Oh my god we have no money to spend', 'This is shit, we're only signing has beens'. etc etc.

Let's see who we do eventually sign and compare them to the likes of Jeff Hendrick.

It needs to happen as quickly as possible I think we all agree on that.
Hang on a mo, we haven't signed him and it's YOU who is being critical of the player. Don't you see the irony in what you're saying.

No one is disputing how far SS has brought the club, but past improvements carry no weight on future events. If the infrastructure improvements come at the cost of continuous relegation fights is it worth it? I’m not saying we will be fighting relegation but without better players in certain positions it’s a possibility. I don’t think we want to be the team with one of the best stadiums and training ground in league one.

Exactly.

It's a trade off. A balance between off field and on field. You can't ignore one for the other.

No, read it back, I have said he's a good player, maybe a better individual player than some we have currently, probably past his peak as has been demonstrated the last few years, but he'd be the wrong signing for us.

You're basically saying that I would change my tune if we'd have signed him, not really, I'd say I trusted the boards decision but not sure he'd align with what we're after.

The fact is we haven't signed him so actually your post is all hypothetical, and I've no real idea what you're going on about.

Sorry but they do, they give you a guide to how the club is being run, the good decisions that are being made behind the scenes, like I say when they give me a reason to criticise them I will but so far they haven't. A two week delay in signing players after a new manager has been appointed is a million miles away from asking if essential club infrastructure project, vital for the future of the club is worth it.

Honestly.

We will revisit this in September.

One of us is right and I know the one who is wrong will accept it with good grace, won’t you.🤣🤣🤣
I'd have probably forgotten about this thread by September but you've just made it interesting 🤣. Consider yourself book marked 🤪

Oh come on, I've read it back. You say he's a good player but,but and more buts. So my comment about the irony of your post very much stands. It's you who is critical of him yet you accuse others who might have been critical if we had signed him. The irony.

🤣

The irony is all your replies are full of 'might's' and 'if's', none of what you're going on about even occurred. You're posting hypothetical nonsense.

You really are a bullshitter. You talk of "full of mights" and "what ifs" and hypthetical nonsense.

Here's your own quote

Guess what? It's full of what ifs, mights and hypotheitcal nonsense. i

That was in response to your nonsensical post about a hypothetical scenario that never happened.

At least all the others that disagreed with me, replied to my comments and engaged in why they thought differently, you sat on the side lines snidely stating that you knew what my reaction would be if we'd have signed him. WTF, you seem like a complete weirdo.

I've simply proved you were bullshitting. You were accusing others of what you were doing yourself. And I added my own comments on Hendrick as well so once again more bullshit.

There is a weird set of people on here who don't want us to sign anyone at all.

Hendricks is shit.
Mooy is shit.
Every free transfer for every other squad is shit.
The Sadler vision was and always has been buy young and cheap with the option to sell at a profit, or use own players from our own academy.
Keogh was an anomoly. Are you wanting him to change his plans to keep you happy?

So why hasn't he done it this pre-season then?

yep, of course I did. The evidence is there to see. Like I said, the irony of your posts.
Maybe I didn't state it clearly enough or maybe it went over your head, but my initial reply to you was trying to demonstrate that a lot of people are just angry at anything to do with the club on this board especially around the subject of this transfer window, i.e. we've not signed anyone.....anger the club lacks ambition.... if we'd sign Hendrick....anger the clubs falling apart for a different reason. It's just not the reality of where we're at as a club.

It's all just a little ridiculous.

It's even more forbidden to question SS, it's like he is untouchable and held in awe. He has done some amazing things already but as a progressive new owner he has to continue to do so and as much as we need the new training ground, East Stand etc., we also need a squad that can compete in the Championship and improve each season. I have no idea what his goals are anymore, he barely utters a word and it is only right and proper that some of us may be a tad concerned after what has happened in the past.

We will know by the start of the season if we have been able to markedly improve the squad, hopefully we will have, but if we haven't then it is only right and proper to ask some questions.

Ah, the entitled generation! 🤘

He has said he will only speak when there is something he is delivering on, which is a marked change from the previous regime of “if and when, sometime in the future when conditions are right” rolling vague indications of travel with no intention of lifting a finger save for transferring cash out of the club for tax planning purposes.

We need to relax a bit and see where we are at Christmas before tearing Sadlers approach to shreds I think. That said, I’m disappointed in how the Critchley situation was handled; still disappointed that the apparent Appleton easy option was taken; very disappointed at the prickly statement following the appointment directed at the fans who are simply expressing genuine concern about bringing another ex manager back when the last resurrection choice failed so spectacularly; and that the transfer committee signings appear to be nowhere to be seen so close to season start and we look like we are in for heavy reliance on a few loan players in a back time the future stylie.

I’m prepared to see how thing pan out after all the turbulence following a period of very significant progress for which Sadler both laid the groundwork for in his purchase genuinely saving the club, and then subsequently built the improved BFC house he promised.
