Reading v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 27.04.24

To be fair we would have been embarrassed by Peterborough or bolton in the playoffs. We are nowhere near good enough
Except we wouldn’t have been at all. We have the players just been mismanaged most of the season and even with that we still beat Bolton at home and Posh away so stop talking drivel

Season ruined by our horrible negative hostile fan base who throw the toys out the pram at every opportunity and constantly want everyone out of the club.

How can we expect the players and managers to perform in this type of environment. Give your heads a wobble.
You're happy with 12 away defeats?

TBF some were against the might of Cambridge, Cheltenham, Burton, Reading and a team with their worst home record in their history Port Vale!!

3 points off a play off spot when we should have comfortably been well in them.
You're damn right I'll throw my fcuking toys out the cot. Inept on our travels but hey, some gullible folk are happy with that eh Jord?

If we’d won that’s us 6th ** hell 🤮🤮🤮🤮
In a way, its fitting and I'm not glad but in a way I always thought we weren't ready, we've been 8th all season.

I think our playoff record would be under serious threat with this lot and this manager.

So it's probably for the best...

Big rebuild needed, if it meant a new positive manager that wouldn't be bad...

We improved a little with results, which just about got people back on board, but the same old issues came back to finish it off with.

Surely SS must be disappointed because it was in our grasp.
This must be the worst position we've ever been in to through the game like this when we could have been in playoffs?

Oh well that was shit 💩 off out for sour beers & a pizza 🍕 so all’s not lost today. Totally nonchalant about it ATM. Guess I really didn’t expect us to do it but lived in hope. God knows what will happen next season.

The story of our season today, promise so much and deliver so little. I said it earlier, it was a long shot for us to get in the play off spots, and even though the stars aligned (to an extent) we just weren't good or brave enough.

Far too many bang average players in the squad, an overly cautious, uninspiring manager and stupid tactics have cost us this season.

I think I need a beer

why respond to a dickhead who clearly isn't a Blackpool fan?

No these tactics are pathetic. Critchley has set us up to fail. 5 at the back with no idea how to play the offside trap or pick up players.

It's embarrassing to watch. You carry on fist pumping though.
YOU are worse than Critch and that's saying something!

Did we not have another striker on the bench today?
It won't be a popular post but Grimmy should have done better with 2 of their goals.... shame he had a crap game, right when we needed him most.
A great League 1 goalie who's poss' saved us 10 points... but, fell at the final hurdle. (not blaming him btw as no one truly shone today)
And before any nobhead quotes a crap formation... I totally agree, Critch fucked it right up BUT he's always been here for next season, cos the ONLY person that can change that has confirmed he won't.
So, let's see if SS will spend even more money, but on a few decent QUALITY first team ready players... regardless of all the above... I'll see you all next season.
#gutted :(

Great start. Needed to kick on and sew it up. Didn’t or couldn’t.
Needed to get that one nil lead into half time, couldn’t due to bad marking, and we were then in danger.
Reading took over. Poor defending and questionable refereeing didn’t help.
At three one down it was over. Lots of huffing and puffing but no real threat, ragged a second.

I think I would be feeling happier if Northampton hadn’t equalised TBH.

Bit harsh. Our defence opened up in our penalty area and gave Reading shooting practice.
