Rebellion Blackpool august 2021 Cancelled

No surprise my mate who is a sound engineer is looking at not working till next year, for these events they take to much planning and what makes it worse it's inside and people can come and go from the venue so testing is pointless.

The support teams for gigs and outside events have had a truly shit time of it this last year. I hope they all get a better shake in the next few months.

Couldn't agree more Mark.

Not just the support teams though, I feel for everybody who has been unable to earn a living while others sit at home on full pay, doing nothing but praising the lockdown.

I usually work in the events industry. I have many colleagues within the industry struggling.
I worked for a company who made me and many others redundant last July. I heard through the grape vine our employer had said "I don't want any employee of my employees sat on their arses and still getting paid whilst they are doing nothing."
I really hope this isn't true but I'm afraid it probably is. Very sad times.

There will be plenty of people still ging to Blackpool I believe. Lots going down from the North East. The smaller fringe gigs will probably go ahead at places like the Rose and Crown

Absolutely gutted but not surprised. They posted a very eloquent list of reasons for cancellation yesterday. At least they secured a grant and our tickets from last year roll over to next. They've also secured the Tower Headlands as an extra stage which will massively boost numbers.
It's a blow for the town however. Let's hope the WG get their finger out and, if, virus allowing, there can be gigs they sort out as many bands as possible.
From what I can see for the Empress, there's the Specials in September; UB40 in November: Bowling For Soup early next year and Foals May 2022. That leaves a significant number of dates to try to get on the tour list of a significant number of bands.

Gutted. I’ve still got one festival on, I’ll be devastated if that gets canned too.
🤞🤞

Futurama festival in Liverpool is still on. That's the only festival we've got now. Still a few gigs to do for the Monster Raving Loony party in Derby plus a Gateshead gig.

I mentioned on the other Rebellion thread that disappeared, that I spoke to a guy yesterday who thought it would go bankrupt if it wasn’t on this year, he obviously hadn’t heard the news when he commented. That would be sad for live music.

Not going bankrupt. They've secured a grant from the arts council. They would have been fucked if those who bought tickets for 2020 had requested refunds. The vast majority of us didn't thankfully.
