Recent claims to fame

Saw Andy Whyment (Kirk from Corrie ) at Costco the other day…he was wizzing around making sure not to make eye contact with anyone 😂

It’s in the paper today that his wife is complaining about the public accosting him when he was out recently 🤣🤣🤣
He was pushing his trolly at about 30 miles an hour 😂
You can understand it as he would be shopping for hours if he stopped to chat/pics etc

Was on train with Jimmy Carr 3 weeks ago, Met Kevin Bridges in Tenerife in February, Shakira was in the same eating establishment/cocktail bar as me in Cyprus the other week - She had to book I didnt ;-) ..... Tony Green is my go to party drinking buddy and near neighbour ...

I’m envious of the Tony green connection

There's always a show off 😁

I was sat on a bench in a supermarket waiting for the missus to finish shopping. A short guy 60 plus plonked himself beside me and said with a grin," Don't panic i won't be here long. He then started humming to himself. I glared at him and said" Room enough for a little one!" He went red in the face and flounced off.He looked familiar but i did not realise who he was until the missus appeared and said" Did you manage to get Tony Robinson's autograph before he went?"😂

Impressive list ☺️ ... When I was younger and the old fella was in Tull & Stealers wheel we lived in Henley/London for a while, I met stars I didn't realise were stars... I'd kill to meet some of them again knowing now who they were/are.. The biggest impression and memory though is John Pertwee (Dr Who at the time) ..

Met and Greeted quite a few during my time at BAES the stand out ones are.
Maggie Thatcher, Tony Blair, Princess Diana, Princess Anne, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Duke of Kent, King Hussain of Jordan, Crown Prince Abdul Turkey of Saudi, and pretty much every defence Secretary we’ve had for the past 3 decades right up to 2010.

Back in the day I had a summer job working in the buffet bar at North Station. Lived in Poulton so used to ride to the station, load the bike in the guards van then store it round the back of the kitchen.

One day was setting off home, went down the platform and started to lift the bike into the train. A bloke already stood in there took it off me and set it down.

It was Tony Benn, on his way home from a Labour Party conference.

Did you have a boozer in London?

Morty at his house a few times, Frank Carson at the old golf drive at little Bispham, Sophia Loren, Al Pacino, Jeri Ryan, J.McPhee, Richard Thomas, and a few more.

Not really 'recent', but I have a fairly low bar regards meeting or having dealings with famous folk / celebs / claims to fame.

However, at the end of my career in the Royal Navy, I was drafted to be a tourist guide on HMS Victory in Pompey, and building we were billeted in had it's own Junior Rates bar!
One afternoon whenI had finished my duties for the day I retired to the bar for a well earned ale, and found Oliver Reed and his young wife ensconced within, buying everybody beer! Turns out he was friends with one of the older lads who worked on Victory, and had pitched up for a session!!!!

After a few hours, the lovely Mrs Reed decided it was time to depart, but Ollie was nowhere to be seen...
A search was undertaken, and I found him shirtless, in the depths of the hull of Victory, which was undergoing renovation.
he was leaning against a hull support, totally spangled, and when I suggested that he might want to get back to his wife, he replied 'just a moment more son, I can feel the history seeping into my bones'....!

(I did say my 'claims to fame' bar was low!!) 🤣

Impressive that 👍

Had a pee down an alleyway in North London on a Sunday afternoon (nothing open back then).
Heard a car slam it's breaks on & Joe Brown (singer) appeared next to me.
A great leveller needing a slash.

Nothing recently but here are a few from the past.................

1987 came close to being shot by security men. When I was operations manager for First Leisure at Blackpool Winter Gardens, I accidently bumped into Maggy Thatcher and knocked her over in a corridor behind the stage of the Empress ballroom during the Tory part conference 💩

1982 declined free tickets off Midge Ure for an Ultravox concert

1978 stood next to Joe Stummer in the gents at Manchester Apollo, exchanged a cursory 'alright mate'

Had a piss next to Lewis Collins in about 1986 in the Farmers. Some bloke asked him for his autograph whilst he was pissing 😂
I was in the bogs having a slash at Hillside golf club when the British Masters was on there a couple of years back, flanked by Lee Westwood and Tommy Fleetwood.

Was in a sauna in Germany with a naked Lee Ryan from Blue!
(long story - was on a work conference, where we were staying had a spa where costumes weren't the done thing and in walked a naked Lee Ryan!).

Shook King Charles hand (only a prince at the time) in Booths Car Park in Keswick. It was at the time of the Cockermouth floods. He was visiting the impacted areas and I was working for an Insurance company at the time.

A few I sat next to for a chat at formal dinners:
Isabel Oakeshott (political correspondent and posh totty)
Brian Turner (TV chef, whose favourite meal was fish and chips)
Alistair Campbell (Blair's spin Doctor and Dingles supporter)
John Simpson (BBC political editor)
Graham Gooch
Bob Willis
Tony Cottee

Also met Prince Edward (pretty dim and could hardly string two words together), Duke of Gloucester, Michael Portillo, Tony Benn, Arthur Scargill, Keith Joseph (the last 2 engaged in the best head-to-head debate I have ever seen)

Met Steve Davis at the Commonwealth Club when he was playing on the table next to me. He used to practice against David Greaves.

Met Joanna Lummley, on her own in a park in the 80's, and asked if I could take a photo of her. " How would you like me?" Ater that response I was a bit shakey, and the photo was blurred!
Heard some very surprising stories about the lovely JL and hearing that she was alone in a park comes as no surprise if the stories i heard are true😉

Declan Rices dad Shaun used to be an area sales manager for Grahams Builders Merchants and looked after the company I work for’s account , Shaun’s a big big Chelsea fan so was always full of stories about Declan going through the system there.
Shaun‘s a real sharp guy and very street wise so no surprise a few years ago he left Grahams to look after Declan in fact I think he’s his manager , the family is set for life now fair play to em 👍🏻
