Retro Blackpool shirts

I've got a few over the years, was never an avid collector (couldn't afford it back on the day).

My boys have had a fair few, my eldest can now fit in some of my old stuff, his smaller stuff getting passed down etc.

I think my favourite is the Gola shirt; didn't the first release not have the sponsor because the club hasn't acquired on at the start of the season? About 4 or 5 matches on we finally got one.

A special mention to Rebecca's because of the way our crest is within the tangerine which I think looks fantastic

And the one I wear most is the Kimmel; it both homage to VB and it looks good.

That yellow one is a classic 👌

Edit to add: wasn't their a curse of title sponsor where a load went bust in consecutive years?

Hi everyone, think my comment applies to this thread, I'm actually quite new to the club only really started supporting them in 2017 due to not having a single clue about football and living about 200 miles away from Blackpool but my dad and grandad were born there and they both support them so as soon as I found out I knew I had to be a seasider, this season I bought my first shirt, ended up buying all of them including the 3rd and GK's, treated myself to a mask as well! I would really like a retro kit at some point but I'm not really sure what to look for, The bass ones are my favorite but if I'm honest they all look great, being 15 and have not been to a game yet I don't know a lot about the club so I'm sorry if I sound plastic was meant to go this season but that turned well! But hopefully, people can guide me in the right direction fo what to look for and thank you for allowing me to be apart of this forum, sorry for the long message, have a good one!

Your best bet is ebay.

I think the club would make a killing if they re-produced replicas from the 80s and 90s.

I agree I was tempted by the retro ones the club had, but they looked like they were made quite cheap. Most clubs are selling their 80's and 90's retro shirts, the club would really make quite a bit of money!

I have no idea why TOFFS made that shirt out of such awful material. The 1953 Umbro shirt was actually made out of silk.
I am not sure about that. But the Bolton shirts were definitely silk (and shiny) and, allegedly, there were a few pointed remarks between players in the tunnel before they walked out onto the pitch.

When I used to play in a team in London in the 90s we first used the kit that had belonged to an Arsenal ladies team, the JVC away yellow shirt. It had an embroidered badge and according to the aficionados there something about the way the numbers were stitched on that gave it away as club, match worn kit. Anyway things moved on and we bought our own kit modelled on the Cameroon set up.
The Arsenal shirt that I had got used by my son and then ended up with my sister in law. Eventually she put it on ebay in a bundle of clothes as her kids grew up and immediately started to get a lot of interest from collectors. She withdrew it and listed it separately and ended up getting around £300 for it. The killer for us in the team was that there were / are the nine other of these shirts somewhere but we didn't know where. I was surprised, it was well used and wasn't anything to look at.

Crikey I gave most of my old shirts away wish I'd kept them. I have one with electricity direct on somewhere. I also have the Cabrini home shirt from the championship promotion to prem season. Its signed on the front by Charlie Adam and has Prem badges on the sleeves. Don't know what that is worth ?

You are correct, only Blackpool's shorts were made of silk and made by Bukta.

The shirts were made by Umbro, and the inner labels bore both the Umbro logos and the ‘Tangeru’ branding. Tangeru was Umbro’s finest fabric, first introduced in the mid 1930s. It was made of ‘Pima’ cotton, harvested by hand in the northern coastal valleys of Peru. The long staple length of the cotton supposedly made it both very soft and extremely durable, therefore ideally suited to sportswear.

But essentially fuck all like the TOFFS '53 shirt which was made out of cardboard.

the club need to make a move on these retro shirts because other companies are doing a couple now.

Found this recently,a naff attempt in my opinion but id rather the money went to BFC and they can do a proper replica with the correct crests and colourways.

Yep I've seen lots of clubs now getting on the retro shirt wagon - if the club could do it officially they'd make loads of money off some of our retro ones. The 89/90 would sell like hot cakes!

If you want a medium 53 shirt and they've only got XL in the shop just put it in the wash at 60 degrees and hey presto, well that's what happened to mine.
