Rhodes hat-trick on Tuesday

Can’t see it myself. The Bolton lad had his overturned on a technicality, the double jeopardy rule, whereas if the ref believes Rhodes flung an elbow which is a red card offence then it will be very difficult to get overturned.

I've no idea of how the review process operates but I'm assuming it involves the monitoring of any available footage, and never, in a million years, is there any suggestion of Rhodes maliciously using his elbow, and certainly not with any degree of intent, against his opponent. And the evidence of this interpretation is, in my totally unbiaised opinion, absolutely irrefutable.

Maybe, some may argue, I am viewing all this through slightly 'tangerine-tinted' spectacles, but, frankly, I'm struggling to see what line of reasoning could possibly be wheeled out for the upholding of such an ill-considered, non-sensical decision. And, in the event of the decision being upheld by the reviewing panel, can I humbly suggest a contract be taken out on the Portsmouth prick who so shamelessly managed to con the ref into making the outrageous decision to give poor old Rhodes his marching orders. As big a tavesty in football as you're ever likely to see ...

The EFL don't like us. They are based in prescum, the ref is from prescum and the player play acting is an ex prescum player. There is no VAR hence no comeback and they always support their own. I'd be amazed if it's overturned. Corruption is alive and well.

I think that would be fair!!

TBH the bigger travesty this afternoon was their lad going over the ball and doing Beesley but only getting a yellow.

Is the rule where an appeal & the red card isn’t overturned leads to an additional game onto the suspension still in practice ?

I'm with you here, if they can find any way of upholding they will. They will simply say that raising the arm (a natural part of jumping and something we see every week) is dangerous play. Their player certainly contributed to the refs actions.

Or their bloke trying to strangle Beesley immediately before the Rhodes incident. Which went totally unpunished. If that had been acted upon the other would never have occurred.
