Rhodes - Recall?

anyone confirm or otherwise the rumours that Huddersfield have a built in recall option on Rhodes? I’ve not heard anything but apparently that Nixon has put it out there? 🤷‍♂️

Who knows but he can't go back until January being reported then hopefully one of most expensive transfers ever will be up to speed.

We need Hudds to be scoring and doing well. It’s as simple as that. If they are then they are unlikely to recall, if they’re not then why would they not call him back ?

He’s 33 now and has had many years with them, they know exactly the type of player he is and what he offers. It’s not like a young prospect who’s suddenly excelled in the division below and would now be an asset.

Huddersfield chose to let him move on for a season, any recall would be (in my opinion) a safety net for injuries. I can’t imagine Rhodes would even want to go back unless he’s a guaranteed starter?

I think you have that right

Am I right in thinking that, because he played it the EFL cup for them, if they recalled him he would only eligible to play for them?

It was Colin Wanker who sent him out on loan though and he's gone. The new manager might think he's exactly what they need having only scored 10 and won 2 in 9 games.

Reading between the lines in this from July it would suggest that too many bridges have been burnt between Huddersfield and Rhodes.
He was obviously looking to get away due to lack of game time and find a Club where he could feel the love.
As said above he can only play for us or Huddersfield this season and in the circumstances he is unlikely to want to return there or even agree to a recall.

As Joni Mitchell once sang (or almost) in Big Yellow Taxi.

'Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone
They got rid of Rhodes, and now they just want to see him.
(Ooh, bop-bop-bop-bop, ooh, bop-bop-bop-bop)'

Huddersfield Town can recall Jordan Rhodes in January thanks to a review clause in his Blackpool loan, Alan Nixon has said on his Patreon.

Huddersfield Town sanctioned a loan exit for experienced striker Rhodes in the summer. Regular minutes looked set to elude him with the Terriers and as a result, he penned a season-long deal with Blackpool.

He doesn't have to agree to a recall, he's under contract to udders.

Whether he'd play is debatable.

Would they recall him because they know he's doing well here and we want him back, he'll leave for nowt at the end of the season but they could make a little by selling him to us in Jan?

As my birthday next is on the 30 January 2024 . clocking in at 64. I would love him to still be our player . he is that x factor we need to keep a promotion push. . get the cheque book out Simon.

Yes.. I get that.
IF there is a recall clause and Huddersfield choose to implement it he goes back regardless of whether he agrees or not.
Yes he has to. However he can make his displeasure clear to them, especially if he’s ooc in summer.Maybe he’ll fancy a crack in the higher division.

What happens happens BFC will know either way with plenty of time to be proactive.

If they recall him, against his will, he could be as much use to them as Stewart was to us.😉

If the Loanee is enjoying his time at the club he is on loan to, could he decide to stay there and not return to his parent club ?

Whether it's any of our business or not, this is the type of communication I would like to hear from the club, just tell us one way or the other.

At this stage of his career I'd be surprised if his agent hasn't insisted on some kind of safeguard to do what the player feels is best for him at the time.
Back in the Championship he could easily find himself on the bench without much game time.

None of these reports are adding any credibility to this story (or non-story), they are all the same local “newspapers” owned by Reach PLC. They are all remixing the same content.

Think it makes business sense for them to recall him then ask for a fee to sign him foe the remaining 6 months of his contract there.

Darren Moore: Udders Boss says he will look at a recall in January.
Let's hope they are comfortably mid-table by then!

If we are near the top in January, perhaps Sadler will invest in 2 or 3 new players for a push for promotion

so losing Rhodes will not be so bad.

RHODES - RECALL?

What a strange question!? He's only been with us a matter of weeks! How could he possibly have escaped anyone's memory by now? I mean, he actually turned out - and scored - for us in our most recent League fixture versus Barnsley. Unless my powers of recall tell me otherwise, perhaps I'm suffering slight confusion on that ...

I think the way Jordan Rhodes creates space for himself when receiving the ball is just brilliant to watch. A proper goal scorer who I hope stays with us for the rest of this season at the very least.
🧡UTMP🧡

I think the player will have a say in all this for sure, if they wanted him he may insist on being played he won’t want to be on the bench. If he scored 12 goals by Jan 1st will be interesting.

Not done it in the Championship which is why he came to us.
If he went back to the Championship he's taking up a place of someone who might be more capable.
Two very different leagues and any manager being asked that question would reply in the same way.

"Not done it in the Championship".... he's the 4th highest all time goalscorer in the Championship 😂

I assume you mean he's not done it in the Championship over recent seasons 😉
