Deserves his own thread to be honest. Cool calm and collected even when Marv didn’t play at his usual standard. Was pinging the ball like a prime Ian Evatt at times. Made some vital tackles.

Between him Fiorini and Thompson if we improve at that level we will be fine this season.

Williams had a difficult start without kicking a ball for us but very noticeable when we scored he went mental.

It will get better as they develop an understanding, as will the midfield, although the front six will probably change a bit when further additions are brought in

Loved his pinged passes 1st half, noticed that myself.

A good fast pass gives the receiving player that extra half second.

Couldn’t agree more… he still needs to kiss the badge though

If Fiorini gets 90 minutes fitness he could be our best player on that first half look.
 
A class debut.
His all round play was excellent. Unlike Marv (who I've never criticised) who uncharacteristically, made at least three passes directly to the opposition! He's never been the best passer of a ball and MA needs to sort this on the training ground before we get punished in a game.

I think this might be why we haven't seen the expected interest in him, the PL clubs seem to want someone who's better on the ball.

Said this today and have said before, he isn't good enough for the Prem.

A great defender who can pull last ditch tackles out of nowhere, great character and player, but passing isn't good enough for the prem.

Some of it today wasn't good enough for us.
 
funny one for me this. Certainly did nowt wrong but everything seemed to fall or be more around where Marv was.
 
Thought he was excellent and thanks for creating a thread with his name on and not as someone did deride where he came from.
 
Good OP. The main thing that struck me was he always seemed to have that extra second or two. He's going to be some player.

I didn't think he was quite as good as you say. But I am prepared to think that you saw more in him than I did.

All 3 who started Fiorini Williams Thompson seem to be excellent signings so far
