Richard Keogn

Keogh was a bad signing, end of. Marv should be ahead of him as should Casey. We got rid of Thorniley and got this donkey instead.

The problem is our squad is weaker than last seasons. That should NOT be the case. No right back is unforgivable, our centre backs that have been selected so far are not right, Husband needs someone decent next to him and he is a natural left back.

The main problem is our midfield, we lacked creativity last season apart from Kaikai and Embleton and both of those have gone. The recruitment started off well at the end of the season but has ground to a halt. We need 4 championship standard players in by the end of the transfer window, if we don't then we will be fighting to stay up.

How can we get promoted and end up with a weaker team?
...and if we don't get them we will be relegated.

Agree its a joke really, to start with no RB... playing a makeshift defence, with players out of position. Getting rid of Kaikai who can put the ball in the net and Thornily who may be a bit slow but to bring in the aging Keogh....

Its like we've hung our hat on Embleton and Gabriel and it's not worked.

A bad start is exactly what we didn't need but not were still not playing our best players in best positions. Were playing a passing game that takes a half to get going, other times it puts us into danger. Looking shaky at the back and not a unit and not scoring goals....

What has Ekpiteta got to do to displace him? Has Critchley signed him with guarantees of first team starts. Husband is only really competent at CB alongside someone of quality ( like Gretarsson or Ballard). Neither Keogh or Husband have any pace.

I am a natural optimist so I am hoping maybe he will be a little bit quicker when fully match fit.
The pessimist in me thinks we have a accident prone aged tortoise playing at centre back who seems to like to shout at his team mates as if it is their fault that he is slower than an arthritic snail. We could have been 4 down at half time and all of them would have been his fault.
At least that post made me smile, unfortunately accurate though, I don’t go for all this calderwood leaving to be the problem although obviously doesn’t help, he was a gamble that could have paid off,it hasn’t and we all know now, as does nc so he’ll no doubt use rk as backup, we will sign better & we already have better

Can I just say, that bad car crash he was involved in probably fucked his legs up good n proper.
It was a strange signing at the time and looks even worse after the two home matches.
Cheers Rick bye bye👋

How the feck did he get a contract and Trialist RB Clarke was a thousand times better and we didn’t bother pursuing. Someone in recruitment needs to give their head a wobble. Can he go out on loan? Being serious btw

Marv better be injured.
Otherwise I’m struggling to accept the logic in leaving our best defender on the bench, 2 matches running

At least spell his name right.
He's having no more of a mare as the rest of the team.
And that's from someone at the game not shouting at a streaming site.
No. That's wrong. He made at least 7 poor errors tonight and has a habit and pointing his finger at others. That tonight was completely unacceptable by him. He needs to drastically improve.

However bad Keogh was tonight (and he was bad) for me he wasn't as bad as Garbutt. He bottled a tackle in the second half on Saturday that ended up in the break that finished us off and tonight he went a step further getting just about everything wrong. He looks out of his depth, a rabbit in the headlights. A real worry. If I'd have been Critchley I'd have brought him off fo his own good, brought Marv on and moved Husband across. On top of that we had nothing in central midfield, Keshi was dozing, and Jerry continues look unhappy and completely out of sorts.

Anyone still putting Keogh in their team selections?
He lacks pace, but he got some crucial headers & tackles in. We could try Expo & Casey & that could be disastrous As one's coming back & they've never played together. I do think Ekpiteta & Gretarsson will be our centre backs along with Connolly, eventually.

Garbutt is better utilised further up the pitch

Keogh has less pace than a geriatric snail. And for an experienced championship player he was turned far too easily by the opposition strikers. You need centre backs with pace and height to play NC's tactics of a high defensive line. He should surely realise that RK is not cut out for that and is past it. He neeeds to bring in Ekpiteta now instead.
It is also obvious we need 3 or 4 quality players in damn quickly to survive in this league. Cheque book time Mr Sadler

All he can do is head it. He's not up to it. There's quality there, but in a pair, no, it's never going to work. In 3, with two mobile players next to him, maybe.

Shouldn't be blaming any player after that

If you need a scapegoat then its the manager for setting us up to fail

Playing 442 against a side that plays 3421 is suicide especially a side like Coventry who play with 2 10s running at our back four

If i knew all about O'Hare why didn't the Blackpool manager, he had the freedom of Blackpool in the 1st half

We really could have been 4 down after 10 mins

Yeah, to some extent I agree, but on my life, I've not felt as dicey about a defender for ages. O'Hare was proper quality.

Every single Championship team will have a player with quality and pace. So he will be exposed to that every match. Suspect someone dropped a böllöck in this signing. It reminds me of Mike Basset England Manager, Benson & Hedges. 😁

To be fair, we knew he was finished before we even signed him so this is not news tonight.

Why critchley wasted money on getting him only he knows. would have been a decent signing five years ago!
So I assume you posted your thoughts that he was finished at the time we purchased him?

You don't need more than one look at Keogh to realise he's well past his best. I'm totally flummoxed by NC on this one, especially when we have a very decent option on the bench in Marv. Sometimes managers have blind spots. Remember when Holloway arrived and Ian Evatt started the season on the bench..I couldn't believe it at the time.

That is pretty spot on, people have been distracted by how poor Keogh was but Garbutt also had a real shocker. There was a bit of a reaction from Garbutt to Husband late in the game, something said maybe. Non of the back 4 look comfortable at the moment, they just haven't gelled this season at all and all look out of their depth.

He was being done for pace every time and made a couple of huge errors. If we've brought him in to be our Championship experience and then he's the player giving the ball away it doesn't look good does it?

Strange signing I must admit.

He made a few last ditch tackles but also put us in the shit a fee times and looked all at sea against average championship opposition.

The longer we wait and persist with the back 4 the longer the frailties continue.

Better to get our faster, more agile, better on the ball etc players in now.

They have played some games pre season etc.

I’d rather have 62yrs as centre half. Couldn’t be slower. At least then he couldn’t trash everything the new regime do as well so we’d get some respite from his twisted ‘opinion’.

Dunno if lb at rb will work, but agree largely.

Dropping Yates though will get you pelters on here.

Tbf I haven't sen anything to suggest Jules should replace him yet, think Yates and Lavery need to build a partnership.

Seeing as its shit poetry day and this is a Richard Keogh thread here goes.

There once was an old man Keough.
Who signed on for Blackpool for dough.
He rarely tackles
Please undo those shackles
'Cause fuck me you're awfully slow

He managed 39 games last season split across L1 & championship, on the face of it he should still be able to do a job.
