Richie Wellens

Absolutely incredible decision if its true that they wanted him to change his style of football and he refused so they sacked him, although it's the Scum so it's questionable! Surely they knew his style of football when they hired him not that long ago......

Gary Neville......if you disagree with him then you're obviously wrong! Good for Wellens for sticking up to him would fancy him in a scrap between them...🥊

From what I've seen on twitter Neville only has a small stake in the club and wouldn't have any influence on decisions such as this.

That being said though it isn't good for his PR as he is probably the person you most associate with them, so even if he doesn't have that influence it reflects badly on him when things keep happening that completely contradict his opinions.

That's what I thought, the owners must have some degree of knowledge of the type of players they have, if they think they are more suited to direct football why employ Wellens!
If Neville has all the answers maybe he should do the job himself.

Unbelievable Jeff.....well probably not.
Have to admit couldn’t give a toss about Salford ( who will never go anywhere in reality despite the money backers) but I do have a sneaky liking for Barrow ( so hope they stay up) given their history of being voted out of the football league despite not finishing bottom....and of course there was the Evo link.

There's a "behind the scenes" documentary, he pretty heavily involved in the day to day. Wellens met with Neville himself this morning where the decision was made.

I think Neville is one of those who thinks he's too important to be talked back to. We'll, there's one thing about Richie, he's got a gob on him.

Why doesn't Neville just appoint himself as Manager if he wants to decide how the team plays football?
Well, its didn't work out too well when Neville did try management so he probably feels more comfortable hiring and firing than being on the front line himself.

There is a lot of speculation on this thread that Neville is solely responsible for this decision
It is a consortium so it will have been a majority decision but Neville had to give the bad news.
Things are never as simple as they appear and we have no idea what has gone on the background.
Wellens has always had a cocky attitude and don’t forget his demise from Man U. for driving his car across the training pitch at The Cliff.
This is not, by the way, defending Neville.
What surprises me is that no-one has come on here and said we should have got Wellens instead of Critchley OR, better still, someone to suggest we sack Critch and bring in Wellens before he gets snapped up. 😂

When you want a manager sacked after 25 games in charge, it's hard to take the moral high ground with Neville. & co.

It's a ridiculous decision, mind you. What on earth makes them think this is going to help anything? Obviously winning a trophy the week before didn't count for much.

Ah fair enough, I thought he was one of many that owned it so he wouldn't have an overruling stake. Certainly a massive hypocrite if he has a hand in it!

Wellens probably not the easiest to work with and Neville to work for especially as he makes a living critiscing managers tactics

Suspect clash of personalities more than anything else

Thankfully we don't have such problems

John,
Spot on with that comment, other than my wanting Notlob to stay down. Then football will see what a great job Evo has done and he moves to better pastures.

...G...you know my thoughts about BWFC...but I think they may well get promoted...hope not..but I think it may well happen.
You and I probably know three good folk who regularly came down from Barrow to support the “Mighty”...the father and son and the guy who worked on the Nuclear Subs( building them that is😉).
Hope you are well and sorted out you know what.

If fans were allowed to their final and Salford made a few quid would he have sacked Wellens. I doubt it. Why doesn't Neville do it himself as he was so good with England? Not.

Don't get the laughing emojis? Richie was a quality player for us and don't get why you'd enjoy seeing him lose his job? Weird.
People easily impressed by a few tricks and flicks, didn’t notice him constantly giving the ball away in promising positions ... then there’s his antics last year, bouncing a supposed ‘approach’ from BFC into a new contract from Swindle ... that he promptly walked out of when things weren’t going his way.
