RIP - Opal

2 years was not enough to spend loving you, but ever second of it was a blessing.

We can only hope she's shes now somewhere, forever chasing flies and with an endless amount or dreamies and tasty sticks.

RIP Opal, our super loving adventure cat that was taken from us far too soon.

P.S. don't be that ** who leaves a much loved family pet by the road to die... we will never forgive that person last night.

My favourite colours for a cat, you need to offer a good home to another ASAP.
Remember losing a much loved dog and asked a rescue site to be put on a waiting list as it was only 3 days since he died.
They had 5 dogs to offer me that day so obviously I took one.
We still have Ember, who wasn't her sister from birth but was still her sister. We will get another at some point but it won't be until we move house.

To some people the idea of losing a pet is a matter of indifference
But to animal lovers losing a beloved pet is a heart breaking time
Although they can never be truly replaced it really does help if you open up your home to another one .
Lastly please don't be that asshat and say its just a cat/dog
She was honestly like a daughter to us.

The pets were just a warm up for the kids we haven't had yet!

Oh that’s so sad.. I am sorry…she was gorgeous.

People who aren’t into cats just don’t realise what wonderful creatures they are (and I have to admit that I was one of them before I bought my British Shorthair, Henry.) They’re so loving and loyal and really do become one of the family..

They've hit your Opal and drove off?

Bastards.

There's nothing much we can say Appy, that you haven't already. What a wonderful looker she is, on those photos. Any of us in your situation that this happened to, we'd all be devastated. It's times like this I sometimes think you can divide society into two halves - those who care about this sort of thing and those who don't.

That was the same for me before these two, never had one before and at 26 I thought I would never be a catman. Ember is really shy and timid but Opal was a little beaut.. so brave and boisterous, she wasn't afraid of anything. She alone turned me into a lover of cats.

Unfortunately, as sad as it is to say, I think it really is a case of "curiosity killed the cat".

She was one of them cats that just had to explore everywhere and go further and further. A proper little adventure cat.

Guess she never made it past the main road though 😓😥😿

Yep. Heartless irresponsible ** cunts. I hope they rot, and I feel seriously sorry for any kids or pets they have - past, present and future.

She wasn't even dead after they hit her. They left her there struggling for - we dont even know how long, and she died in the car of the nice people who found her as they were on their way to the vets.

Wish I knew who it was so I could tell them what I think of them....

That’s heartbreaking…

Became a cat fan in the last 5 years. We have 2 rescue and a Maine Coon. Our black GSD doesn't know how to handle them. Sorry to hear about Opal.

MrsDP and I, although now married for 50 years (lived together for 2 before that), scraped enough money to buy a dog. (1973)
Went to a kennels in Bucks looking for a dog. In one pen there was this noisy Dachshund rushed to fence, eventually followed by a meek Golden Retriever pup.
WE fell for the GR and paid, I think, 15 guineas for him.
The best thing we ever bought,
Jason developed into a wonderful, faithful pet. Everyone loved him.
We had so many happy times with him.
He eventually (14 years old) became ill.
I took him to the vets a couple of times and eventually the Vet said he would have to put him down, and said to bring him back after the surgery closed,
The worst day of my life.
MrsDP worked for Mid Beds Council in Ampthill which was 2 miles away.
I told her the situation and after lunch I took Jason to the vet. I went into the operating room and the Vet , after a few minutes
asked to wait outside, then a minute later said I could go in. and say goodbye.
I picked up MrsDP after work and we drove home both crying our eyes out.

So sorry for your loss. I'm happy that you got to say goodbye.

RIP all lost pets.

That was the same with us. I dodged my wife nagging to get a cat for years, always thought I was a dog person. Then Morty turned up and changed my mind. We then had kids and I still described him as my eldest!

It’s very strange, I have said goodbye to grandparents, relatives and school friends and been extremely sad, but had never cried as an adult until Morty left. I think it’s because they are dependents and trust us unquestioningly.

Think we’re just getting there now and I’ve started looking at the local cat rescues…

Sorry for your loss @TheAppyBus 😔

Like others I wasn't a cat person until this time last year when my wife and youngest son persuaded me to agree to having a cat and a couple of months later Frida arrived.

I immediately became besotted with this little cat and everything was fine until she was clipped by a car in June. Amazingly she managed to drag herself home and I was able to get her to the vets.

She was looking like she was going to make a full recovery but last Monday had to have her right eye removed.

Glad you still have her with you mate. Make the most of every second.

She was beautiful. I feel your pain. Just spent two month nursing a barn cat back to health including getting him neutered and litter trained as he had to be inside in the house in his collar of shame. Three weeks after he was liberated he died 😢 in an accident.

I was the same, had no interest in cats at all then ended up with one due a family impulse acquisition and 6 years later when the cat died I was a wreck.

RIP Opal

Just a side point please don't put those little bells on cats collars a in the image above. It's cruel having that bell ringing in their ears all day.

Sorry for your loss. 😟
Always jump out of the car if I see any animal or bird in distress or danger. Sometimes it’s too late, but the least we can do is try and help.
Carried a weary bee home yesterday. Watching the little thing perk up is good for the soul. 😂

Buried her here. Planted a plumb tree next to her to make sure she always has flies to chase.

May she forever rest in peace over the rainbow bridge 🌈❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥😓😭

Hi Appy, hope you're all doing ok considering. Just wanted to share that your post got me thinking so much about our Morty, that we've taken the plunge and adopted a young mum cat and her kitten. This is Ruby and Diego. Mum especially was struggling to find a home, and I love a lost cause :). You can never replace a beloved pet, but I think Morty would approve of two cats who were in need of a break, getting it with us. Cheers.

They’re utterly gorgeous…I’m so happy for you all and Morty would definitely approve!
