Rob Apter

See he came on for Tranmere yesterday on 63 mins with Tranmere 2 down. From the Tranmere website.

As the clock ticked past 60, Nigel Adkins rung the changes and made three subs, including that of Rob Apter for Hawkes.
The Blackpool loanee was straight into the action, dancing in and out of three defenders before passing to Jennings, who beat Jones to reduce the arrears.
Rovers hunted for the equaliser with great momentum. Apter’s next ball in caused problems and eventually dropped to goalscorer Jennings who flashed a shot just over.

Would think that can only enhance his chances of getting more minutes and getting starts. Keep it going Rob.

He wouldn't get in our side at the moment despite the hysteria when he left.
Incredible that people thought he could make the jump from a loan move in non-league to League 1 football. Best thing for him is a loan in League 2. Should’ve done the same with Carey in all honesty.

He wouldn't get in our side at the moment despite the hysteria when he left.
The 'hysteria' was based on us being shite going forward in a number of games prior to his departure and palpably lacking creativity.

We now have Dembele who we didn't have till about 12 hours before Apter left.

Who weirdly, can't get in our side.

Almost as if the manager favours the structure and compliance with tactical instructions above the raw ability and instinct of a certain type of player. Rightly or wrongly.

We've also improved as a result of bringing in a player like Dale who can play who hadn't started a single game when Apter left. Dale is not unlike Rob Apter.

The lad can't even get into a shite Tranmere side(joint second bottom)to start a game under 2 different managers says it all really.
Or does it say that players who, like Apter are gifted and instinctive and diminutive struggle in general in a modern game dominated by rigidity and systems and physicality.

Dembele is by *some distance* our best technical player and yet we can't find a place for him. Our second best player technically is probably Carey and we're shoehorning him into a weird left sided berth and drilling him to stop doing silly stuff like trying to score and to pass sideways.

I don't mean that as a specific criticism of Critchley but of football in general and the trends therein. Poveda, Dembele and Apter. Proper quality players who can't seem to find a role with anyone anywhere.

I actually watched the game mentioned in the o/p from the time Rob came on.
The Tranmere commentator, and the pundit alongside him, were waxing lyrical about Rob's impact on the game.
He played down the right (inverted).
I thought he looked lively and was prepared to take his man on. He also favoured passing the ball forward.

He wouldn't get in our side at the moment despite the hysteria when he left.
If you think of how bad that transfer window was construed to be (in hindsight nowhere near as bad as many made out), I think it was more a reaction to the lack of incoming rather than Rob's outgoing.

Got 30 mins against the Shrimps last night and lost 1-0. Can't be doing the lad's confidence much good!!

Tranmere fans site raving about Apter's performance last night, saying that he must start future games. Sky Sports match live details - Apter dominates the references regarding Tranmere. Seemingly set up a great chance with a pearler of a cross but the forward fluffed it.

He's played ~50 games in the Championship, if he needs a loan down in L2, then something has gone wrong.
That’s my point though. We should have loaned him immediately but we didn’t and now look at him, left with a player who’s played 50 odd championship games that isn’t good enough for League 1.

Radio Lancs asked the reported covering the Morecambe game and he said he was excellent and mystery why he didn't start. If Tranmere aren't going to give him a start maybe we should look at moving him to a team that will; Morecambe or Accy?

I'm in a Stockport pub with a County season ticket holder who says Tranmere yesterday were terrible but the guy on the wing on loan from Blackpool was fantastic. Why's he not playing for Blackpool? Beat 3 or 4 men on several occasions, what a talent. Easily good enough for league one.
How would a Stockport fan know?

Tranny forum...

"Another great run from Apter, similar to his last, shoots low, keeper parries for a corner. He's been good today.

"Apter has had a few runs and looks the only one willing to drive forward with it.

"Apter is a really big positive. He has impressed over the last few games from the bench and did today. Unlucky not to score, certainly a player who can make things happen/create something out of nothing. Think he will turn into an important player for us."

"I think apter has a lot to offer us but will blackpool extend his loan after january, lets hope so🤞

"In terms of Apter, he's really good and I would imagine he'll get better loan offers and will be off as soon as his term with us finishes - shame.

"Apter was very good and must start on a regular basis.

Watch the last action in the sky sports highlights for his brilliant run past three players in the box and a great shot superbly saved by the Stockport keeper

A standout in a very poor Tranmere team. Not the first time either . Takes character , grit and talent to shine in those circumstances. Well done Rob Apter and shall continue looking forward to when you get your full opportunity to do it for Blackpool

Was Stockport's 10th consecutive win. Apter has runs and shots at approx 5.50, 6.40 and 7.30 in these highlights, with Tranmere down to ten men.....

Not enough power in the shots I think? Great approach play though.

Hopefully he'll get plenty of game time over the course of the full season and he can start next season with us brimming with confidence 👍 👍

I think he's on loan til January? Hopefully playing for us after that. 😉 He takes much better care of the ball than CJ. Both have strengths and weaknesses obviously.

Yep, the shots were fairly tame and easy to deal with, but he's got decent ball skills and looks like he could stand out at that level. I wonder if that will end up being extended or whether the intention is to try and integrate him into the squad at Blackpool.... Not entirely sure where he'd fit at the moment....Maybe competition for CJ, but then we've also got Lyons and Gabriel who are yet to feature.

My bet is that Critch won't use him this season but I think it would be a shame. He's technically the best of all the options we have. CJ and Gabriel are athletes, Lyons doesn't quite have the technical ability of Apter. Not quite the same kind of player either.

I think it probably makes good sense to let him get a full season of regular football under his belt. My thoughts when I've seen him was that he looked a bit lightweight and 'Little Boy Lost', so I think it will do him the world of good to be playing regular football at a decent enough level.

I don't agree with that description of him.

I've never seen him look lost. If anything, he's looked more purposeful than the senior players around him.
I think what you saw as purposeful, I possibly saw as a bit 'headless chicken'... 😂

In fairness, I didn't see the Norwich game and understand he played pretty well..

I think now we've got Dembele and Dale is playing regularly, I can't see where Apter would get his chance here and Adkins is quite a good manager for a side at such a lowly level so therefore I agree a season there is for the best.

Was half-following the game via County Twitter on Saturday and noticed Apter's name a lot. Not often club accounts comment on opposition individuals like this.Screenshot_20231030-213033.png

🤷‍♂️
I am on about a Stockport fan saying he is good enough for League One. Last time I checked Stockport were in League Two haven't been in League One for years.
This guy is in his 60s and has watched football at every level. And started life in London as an Arsenal fan anyway. Plus, Stockport are well clear at the top of L2 and have won their last ten games, and would probably beat us at the moment!

Personally, for his development, I'd rather that he continued as a first XI player there than a bit part player here, and makes the breakthrough into our first team next year.
Maybe but if he is flying in L2 by January he may be very handy for us in the second half of the season. He's our player. If he's good enough, play him. Wc could do with the ability he has on the ball. The headless chicken comment is actually just nonsense. He's the opposite of that.

On the podcast recently, when asked about the difference between L1 and L2 the Stevenage FC Guest said that he felt there was a big gulf in quality between sides at the Top of L2 and the better L1 sides.

No surprise as they don't play a shit 3-5-2 formation.
