Rob Apter

On the podcast recently, when asked about the difference between L1 and L2 the Stevenage FC Guest said that he felt there was a big gulf in quality between sides at the Top of L2 and the better L1 sides.
Oh blimey, Rob Apter must be miles off then! 😉

I honestly wouldn't know. I've not seen anything like enough of the lad to form a proper judgement....

I made the point as you'd said that Stockport would probably beat us at the moment.

I do think they likely would. But I don't know of course. Ten straight wins is a lot of momentum though, and a lot of confidence.

Yep, they're om a decent run... I'd expect most sides in the top third of L1 would beat them fairly comfortably though and Blackpool are a decent side... Obviously anything can happen in a 'one off' game of course. The fact that a fan of a recently promoted side has highlighted the difference in class (and let's face it it's the same for any promoted club)

Some Bowler like cut ins and runs there.

Let's hope he keeps it going and gets some goals, assists and cements his place in the side.
Yes and the sooner the better. Cos CJ was like a lost headless chicken on Saturday. 😀

Cements his place in their side, for this season.

He's probably not ready for a league 1 side pushing for promotion yet.

The experience is what he needs, finding his own way and earning his starts.

A season at Forest Green has done Oliver Casey the world of good. Lets hope for the same outcome from Rob's loan BUT he's got to play and there needs to be a discussion with Adkins about that.

He is playing now and is playing too well to be dropped, by all accounts. In fact fans seem worried he's playing too well to be playing for them from January. That he'll move to a better club, which means upper L2, or L1.

I think he should call himself Bob Apter as that conveys a certain maturity.

Critch will think 'hmmm, Bob, he sounds like a mature fellow, maybe the sort who might have facial hair and the beginnings of a paunch - I better make sure to give him some minutes'

*In no way do I wish to suggest that all Bobs have a beard and a paunch**. Though, I can think of several Bobs I've known who have one or the other or both, I realise that such a small sample cannot be construed as representative.

**Also, note that in the above example, it's Critch thinking that, not me, so take it up with the club via letter if it's a problem.

I'd suggest Bobby Apter.

Because it has the subliminal association with great Bobbys. Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore. Bobby Robson.

Edit. Bobby Gould. Been trying to recall his name.

Bobby Tambling. Bobby Stokes. Bobby Zamora.

I’d go with Bob Appindyke

And maybe a stick on Tache might not be a bad idea.👍

I'm just getting 'wee Bobby Apter' by appending a y.

Bring him home. 😀

Apter on fire. Gets chopped down and they get a yellow. From a Walker pass.

Personally, for his development, I'd rather that he continued as a first XI player there than a bit part player here, and makes the breakthrough into our first team next year.
I’d agree with that - we’be brought players. back too early in the past.

VOTE for Apter's goal, best of first round. Dembele and Lavery not options! Bloody Beeb shows our game and overlooks them! Useless middle class twunts. 🤘

Yet the report on the BBC football site says Blackpool go through scoring two beauties!
Too many of those goals were just ** it from 20 yards goals, good but all a bit samey. No idea why the Stockport headed goal is in there.
For me Sessegnon and Apter were the best two and Lavery and Dembele should've been in the running.

Working with some Tranmere fans yesterday, who went. Bearing in mind this was his first start, they said his overall performance was outstanding and scored an outstanding goal. They said his loan finishes in January but they thought he was likely to be staying to the end of the season.

We should have kept him here. Easily good enough for our first team. And I want to watch him in tangerine. I bet he'll run his contract down so he can play regular first team football somewhere else. Like Bolton. Or Preston.

Effing Critchley. If they're good enough they're old enough, you dork. 🤘

Can't for the life of me think why he's not in our squad. Perhaps he will be come Januar. Hope so. But does that mean unloading someone? He'd come back a new man, a la Casey with his new contract, and really push for a place.

He's an under 21, doesn't count in the 25.

Rob scored Tranmere's third in their 3-0 win over FGR 👍

From the Tranny 'fishul match report...
"Rob Apter sealed the points with a brilliant low shot in the far corner, after twisting and turning past his man to make room in the box."
"After his terrific play down the right all afternoon, Apter was now trying to find the net from the left. He stung the palms of the away ‘keeper with a powerful effort from range."

Meanwhile George Thomason, who was in our Academy from 2009 to 2018 and was released at 16 without getting a scholarship, scored against us.

Good for him. No way Critchley would be playing him even if he was still here.
For an ex-youth coach, he seems very reluctant to bring any of our younger players through. It’s all a bit odd.
Wouldn‘t be the same with Dobbie in charge. 😉

First FA cup goal last week First league 2 goal this week. Seems to have played his way into a ‘near certain’ for the starting line up. Onwards and upwards. Early days but if he carries on like this, come January, he may have convinced Critch to bring him back.

Rob has been at Bamber Bridge, Chester, Scunthorpe, and now Tranmere, and been a fans favourite and done exceptionally well at each of his steps up, I saw him a lot for Bamber Bridge and always knew there was a special player in there. Next step is our first team and I hope it's soon. Tranmere tweeted this yesterday and if you search his name in Twitter the latest posts are full of praise for him.
