All the more reason to not start Simms and Yates together and put more bodies in midfield.

You say that, but we have underplayed players on the bench in Mitchell and Gabriel, both with loads of pace.
 
We look leggy and lacking in quality in the final 3rd. Both Embleton and Kaikai lazy with their final ball and providing nothing for Yates and Simms.

At the other end we've done OK after early pressure from Rochdale. Our defence and midfield have settled, my only criticism is they are often taking an extra touch and not moving the ball quick enough.

We need better service from Embleton, Kaikai and Garbutt when they are out wide.
 
Turgid stuff there. Needs a half time masterclass from El Critch - and maybe a run out for a couple of new faces.
 
Personally I’d go Dimi for Simms and push Embo into the centre. Allow KaiKai and Embo to rotate off Yates. The ball over the top needs pace to catch it - Dimi can do that.
Also would consider Gabriel for Turts as there’s space to run down this right flank
 
Not a particularly good first half, Rochdale are pressing very well, we need to make better decisions, I’m confident that we will improve in the second half . COYP
 
That wasn’t a poor performance but that was a poor watch. Very disappointed by the decision making yet again. Some of our creative players need to show some sort of initiative. Kai Kai, Embleton, Ward, Simms, and Garbutt could all step up a gear or three.
Very glad Rochdale didn’t manage to punish us early on.

Maxwell MOTM so far.
It’s the sort of performance you’d expect if it was season over and nothing to play for.
 
Passing has been massively letting us down that half.

Said it earlier but for me its Mitchell on for Simms and back to the 4-2-3-1, our players connect so much better and it was revolutionary when we started playing that way after the Burton game. Really surprised we've gone back to the 4-4-2 to be honest!
 
Maybe Simms off for Holmes. Why not and Mitchell for Embleton.
How about Ekpiteta for Kaikai? That's how turgid and negative that first half was. Not a shot on, off or anywhere near target.
Hope my ifollow £5 er for the second half I s a little less painful than the first.
 
Rochdale need to win this as everybody around them are winning bar Bristol Rovers. They'll have to come forward in the second half and try to score and that's when we'll hit them. It has been shite though !

You're right there. Dougall is not giving the ball away but is playing square and backwards. Chizzy says Simms is making runs but not getting the ball. Our midfield needs to be more positive in going forward. Don't know what's wrong with Embleton, he's crap tonight
 
Emberton is not looking good maybe Mitchell is a swap , but which way is the wind blowing? I,m listening to the home commentary and the wind is blowing through their mics
 
Embleton looks a bit off the pace. Given their wing-backs push up it might be a game for Mitchell to move into that space. I'd actually like to see Ward out wide and Robson in central midfield but I doubt it will happen.

Still well in this though. It might be they've had their chances already we haven't got going yet.
 
Michael Jackson on commentary nails it, once you've made the space behind the defence get the ball in. It doesn't need to go round again.
Forwards aren't making the runs because there's no point, the cross' and through balls aren't being delivered

If you want to be offensive because someone challenges you questioning Critchley’s coaching ability then that’s up to you.

The tactics maybe at fault but that’s not coaching.
 
Prety poor fayre so far, but a lot of the players seem knackered, which isn't surprising. Hopefully, we'll steal it in the second half. Maxwell man of the match so far?
