'The students' association said it couldn't determine if she had meant to be racist.'

F'cking hell.
As in fcking hell she supposedly is or is it fuckin hell she is expressing her very valid right to ask the question as to whether someone wants to be there or not once again good on her
“When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main “

Now if she was singing the sixth verse of God save the Queen, I could understand them being a tad miffed.

Students are hilarious- I remember marching in protest against Shell and BP and being so passionate about “issues”.

Ten years later I’m driving a gas guzzler and collecting loyalty points on my company car petrol card.

I hope the next generation of leaders coming through get it right, as clearly my lot didnt (but we have nice houses, holidays and cars!)

What's wrong with recruiting students for the forces?
When I was in there were a few who'd been recruited from University.
We even had National Service Officers who only did 2 years.
Mind you, they were mostly useless. 😜
The one we had in our Troop didn't know what day it was, but he had a Degree so he was taken on.🙄
Fortunately we used to tell him what to do, especially for a long NAFFI break.😁

As in how could the phrase possibly be construed as a racist.

Jesus wept, what's next. Are they going to arrest the entire contents of The Albert Hall at the end of the Proms?

The original Poem was written by Scotsman and poet James Thomson in 1763 and was in part to remove the ancient feeling of being English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish and to be British. It was set to music later that year by Thomas Marne.

It was also intended to stop people of the Isle from being worried about being taken slaves by Barbery Pirates and sold on to North African Muslim Slavers, a practice that was carried out from the start of the 16th till the end of the 18th centuries, as our own navy had become large enough to protect our shores from these Pirates and other envious countries.

It was a real struggle to sort a bank account when I was a student. Lloyd's were supporting the fascist regime in Chile, Barclays were breaking apartheid sanctions in South Africa while Midland (that dates me) wouldn't give me an overdraft 😉

I think if British students were in a foreign university, complaining when that countries military started recruiting, the outcome would probably be slightly different. It would have quickly became the students last day there.
