Ryan Hardie

Not me, whilst Gnando did OK for us under a different manager and would have been a viable Plan B, he was never a player I would have pinned my hopes on firing us to promotion. His last 2 seasons were 25 from 73, which is considerably better than Hardie, so I'm not sure that comparison is a good one either.
You are averaging Hardie over less, in number of games, than a season. I’m averaging Gnanduillet over his 4 seasons in tangerine, come back to me after Hardie has played 4 seasons and we will re-visit this discussion.

Another who thought the grass was greener elsewhere.

Can you really blame a youngster at the time wanting to jump ship to what clearly was a better set up at the time (Stoke?)

I think 99% of kids in his shoes would have done exactly the same at his age considering we were a club on the decline.

I spoke with him after a game during his first few months at the club.
The lad was trying his balls off, extra training, extra gym sessions etc.
He had a real ambition to do well here...as he put it, he just needed a goal to get him going....
Graysons man, Nuttall was given more opportunities because he signed him and Grayson didn't fancy Hardie....the lad had a real ambition to do well here and i genuinely hope he does well at Plymouth...

A lot of us said at the time that he wouldn't get game time and would be better staying where he could get regular first team football. He's gone backwards in terms of career progression by stepping up too far too soon.

They're 2 different types of player, if Hardie comes good, it's no skin off my nose. I don't rate either particularly but why people seem to think Hardie has been hard done to is beyond me, he was poor in pretty much every minute he played for us. I'm glad neither are with us any more, if our aim is to get back into the Championship we need better, or am I supposed to wait 4 seasons to make a judgement on a player?

I don’t think he was necessarily hard done to, I just don’t think he was given a chance by the current regime, just like a few others, Thorniley for one. Critchley was forced into playing him in the last two games and he has proven he is a better player than given credit for. I don’t think any player should be dismissed out of hand, it just seems to me, as I have said on other threads, the managers favourite 11 and our best 11 are not necessarily the same. Look how long it took him to pick Madine, he is now probably one of the first names on the team sheet. Give people a chance to show what they can do.

Simms has made a good start but lets not get giddy just yet. If he is just what we've been looking for & bags plenty of goals then Everton will probably want to keep him. Mind you we managed to get Charlie Adam, so you never know.
