No it's not, it's complete bollocks and you're being very pedantic in your replies on this thread.
An unhappy player at ANY club is a bad thing for the club.
As soon as we were relegated fans should have been expecting the departure of Jerry.
And you can bet your mortgage that if Spurs go down, Kane would be off like a shot. Now that's more of a comparison.
Circumstances dictate what happens with squads over a season and it seems that you'd be more than happy to have bad feelings in the squad on the off chance we're near the summit of league 1 by Christmas, hoping that others are still interested in JY by that time. Jerry's form could dip and we sit mid table by Christmas, who'd be in for him then?
It seems your 'man management skills' leave quite a lot to do with chance, which is a lot more risky than cashing in on an unhappy player now whilst we've the chance, buying someone Critchley has targeted and integrating him into the system before the season starts.
I think I'll leave it to the experts
Agree with the above - ultimately there’s no point in keeping a player who doesn’t want to be there.
Besides relegation, another factor which may have played a part is the return of Critchley. There seems to be a general assumption on here that Jerry’s name would always be first on the teamsheet, however it seems to have been something of an open secret that Jerry & Critch didn’t always see eye to eye last time around. Whether personally or professionally is open to speculation, however the fact remains that under Critchley Mk1 Jerry spent a fair amount of time warming the bench.
For whatever reason, if the same were to be the case this time around, Jerry and his agent will have been well aware that his transfer options & salary opportunities as a L1 sub would drop like a stone. Similarly the club would be well aware that his market value would travel in the same direction at the same rate.
Like most on here, personally I’m massively disappointed to lose Jerry, but taking a step back it makes total sense for both player & club.
