Sadler / Mansford honeymoon period is over!

We have been extremely lucky to have Simon Sadler take over the club after the very dark depressing Oyston years and we were all hugely grateful when he took over the reins but I have to say that some of the team managers we had under the Oystons, often I believe chosen after taking advice from our most revered Jimmy Armfield, did pretty well especially under the the difficult circumstances under which they were forced to operate.

So far and I stress so far, the men that have been chosen since SS took over including Mansford and the managers have not suggested that the future and indeed the present is nearly as bright as seemed to be promised at the time of the takeover .I think our owner said when he took over that last season was a time to take stock and this season we should be looking for promotion. That could of course still happen but things will have to radically improve to give us any chance of getting into contention for even the playoffs.

Our gratitude for what our new owner has so far so generously done for the club, great as it is, should surely not prohibit us from giving an honest assessment of where the team is presently at and what if anything is not working and needs improvement, as much currently clearly does, without somehow causing some to questioning our loyalty which in most cases and certainly mine,is lifelong as is our wish for a successful team.
Maybe so but surely it’s blatantly clear none of the blame here can be placed at Sadlers feet ? He employed expert football men, he supported the expert managers brought in by them, built and funded a team based on what the experts have requested and then did it all again in new circumstances - all whist continuing to fund and develop the club on and off the field in unprecedented circumstances.
Sadler is absolutely untouchable. Any critics of him at this time is rightly deserving of ridicule. Judge Mansford and maybe Critchley but Sadler really has ticked each and every box so far.

No-one,absolutely no-one even the sainted Simon Sadler, is totally immune from responsibility for the outcome of their personal appointments and decisions, hugely grateful as we all are for having such a generous benefactor at the head of our club but the buck does ultimately stop with the man who is in charge at any organisation however lucky the club are for his investment and generosity. We of course wish him well.

Finally, the voice of reason 👏🏻👏🏻

I agree Mansfield must be held responsible for these poor signings along with the chief scout can't remember his name.
Since Mansfield was appointed there have been plenty of signings but how many have been a success im struggling to name one ?? Plenty sent out on loan or off loaded Nuttal /Hardie ect ect ect to many to name.
Mansford

Of course Sadler doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s not spent 20+ years in the industry. He’s a fan who’s worked hard and made some money and probably thought more with his heart than his head when he bought a cluster fuck of a football club.
He’s a bloody hero and he’s a smart man who’s taken advice and brought in football professionals to make the decisions and do the job he understandably isn’t qualified to do.

The OP needs to wake up and get real. Sadler’s a god send but he’s not and can’t possibly turn shite into gold every time he touches it. It will take time. Show some patience you arrogant, entitled simpletons.

Sadler, Mansford, Critchley - they have my support 100%.
Sadler pays good money for people to make football decisions. If they get it wrong, heads will roll. SS has no culpability in my eyes. He provides the funds...Spend it better maybe ????

It's a disappointing OP to be honest.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Simon at length both before and after he made the decision to ' step up to the plate ' ( his word I'd hasten to add ).

He's one of us and in my view in it for the long term.

Things aren't going to plan on the pitch right now but in all other respects it is - and trust me I saw what a shambles it was when we walked in on 25th February 2019.

The onfield issues ( and lets not shy away from saying that there are issues right now ) will be resolved - of that I have no doubt.

We often talked pre-CAR about going non-league to get rid of the Oystons. Losing a few games at the start of the season is hardly a cause for the level of criticism we've seen of the manager but more importantly any criticism whatsoever of the owner who has as I see it gone over and beyond what anyone could reasonably have expected in the first 12-15 months.

Keep the faith

Well said TAM. After having the worst experience people expect the best experience overnight.
SS has done us prouder than we could have expected with regards genuine passion and investment. What follows won’t be through lack of either of those qualities so I’m sending him love and support and gratitude right now.

... and it's only a game, at the end of the day, Like tiddlywinks.

It's perplexing to see how angry some people get.

It’s a funny old game...it does get you sometimes. The complete no show against Gillingham got me more vexed than the Ipswich game which has hit a few fans very hard by the looks of it.

Grown men. In a huge tailspin over a game of football. Utter despair. Over a League One football match.

And then you get Robbie popping up and posing again.

Fuckin ell. LET ME OUT!!!

As I’ve always said to myself over years of experiencing bad days at the footy office, ’fortunately football is only a very, very, very, small part of my life’ Honest!!

With a post like that are we supposed to expect Sadler to joyously fund the stadium rejuvenation and continue to pile investment into the training facilities, football management, ground staff, medical and ancillary health staff as well as funding the playing staff and transfers?
Why not write and tell him you intend to piss on the carpet in the entrance lobby next time you're passing?
The best ever reply to a nonsensical post I have ever read. It’s taken me so long to congratulate you because I have only just stopped laughing.😂😂😂😂😂

"The product that’s been served on the pitch since he took over has been garbage."

I think that is the most worrying thing - you can have a great owner, a great facility but if it's shit inside then no one will want to bother. That's the reality and not 'bedwetting' negativity.

Hard to argue with that.

What’s the plan? Shall we start protesting / marching against Sadler? Has he backed the manager too much?

You must be on a wind up.
I’ve posted previously about the shambolic recruitment process when Critchley was appointed. Prior to that Sadler messed up by appointing Grayson.

Mansford is a wannabe Director of Football and I’ve not seen anything from him so far to justify what is supposedly a massive salary.

For me the honeymoon period is over.

I’m genuinely not sure if either Sadler or Mansford really have a clue what they are doing.

One win in 5 this season. A disappointing 13th place finish last season.

The season prior to that we even finished 10th!

We’ve got rid of the Oyston’s. We need to be doing better than this! And I’m not buying the tosh that he’s only been at the club for just over a year. The product that’s been served on the pitch since he took over has been garbage....and alongside the Manager, that goes to the top of the organisation, the Owner, and wannabe Director of Football, Chief Executive.
One of the most ridiculous op's I've ever read.

Lmao at OP.

Sadler has done more for Blackpool FC than almost any of our owners in history. He's taken the club out of the proverbial dark ages and invested heavily in the playing squad, infrastructure, youth, and community. Things aren't working out on the pitch at the moment, but it's lunacy to suggest that we all need to get out the pitchforks because we're not top of the league.

We finished 13th and 10th the seasons before while playing shit football and Sadler and Co. know and want Blackpool to have a playing identity of attacking, entertaining football like Blackpool have always had. It's not working now, but I am positive that even if Critchley isn't able to make it work the next manager will because the pieces are all there.

This is what happens when fans go into the season with unrealistic expectations. We're going to be top 6, promotion etc..etc.. it's now the same people who are whinging. Facts are it's a new young group of players with a new inexperience manager, you learn much from mistakes during the match, and that's what they're doing. Wind your necks in, calm down and enjoy where the season takes us. #OystonFree

Good post

It’s been overwhelming naivety from the recruitment team and manager.

yes, Big changes were needed and some of the players who look poor now might look much better in a winning performing team, but to expect to be able to overhaul the entire first team squad and a fancy high energy high press system that hardy any of them can play for more than 60mins was asking for trouble. This isn’t league two, league one is full of experienced pros who know how to cancel out powder puff sides that aren’t potent infront of goal.

we need to rewind a little and work on short term solidity to get a couple of results with a more traditional set up and work on our long term plan bit by bit. Maybe try it for half an hour at the end of a game.

Nucky bumps his thread that's been battered by everyone, (except his alter-ego 62years). He could, at least, have bumped it with this post to remind us what we think of his OP.

Nice one Grumpy, let’s just all keep burying our heads in the sand and then suddenly wake up when we are in league 2. Grayson was a disaster. What part of 1 win, 1 draw and 5 losses under the current manager appointment is positive. Wonder who made the managerial appointments. 🧐 Can’t help some people.
