Safe Standing in the north

has any more been said about safe standing in Bloomfield ?
I think it should be implemented in the north where the majority of the fans are stood up and surely it would be safer if the infrastructure was there

who would need to be contacted about this ?
Simon ?
the SLO ?
Raggy ?

I absolutely detest sitting down. Just call me old fashioned but it really does annnoy me. If there ever was a safe standing area i would be first there. Watching the Football league highlights . There seems to be a lot of safe terracing at other grounds. Maybe its just how other grounds are layed out. WE all know the safety issues but isnt it time we DID have an option. I am old enough to remember IBROX but technology has surely moved on . East Paddock was the best.

When there was a penalty yesterday and some people in the west dared to stand before it was taken there were a load of whingers screaming at people to sit down!

Oh yes the westys don’t allow standing of any sort even for penalty’s like you say.
You can stand for a goal celebration BUT better be seated for the second kick off resumes otherwise you are spoken to like you are some sort of hooligan.

AND that is the whole issue. I had a do with a bloke in the West a good while ago. Put his hand on my shoulder. Told him and his ugly daughter where to get off. NO one manhandles me and tells me to sit down.

Having never seen safe standing out of interest ps what makes it crap & how could it be better?
Compared to a terrace the last one for me Burton away it's day and night.
Seat that comes down then a gap to a metal bar to lean on its no different from standing in the North without the bar.

You end up with a person either side of you not the group huddled together like the 9 of us at Burton.

7 at Cardiff you had to move down the line to talk to person at seat 1 if your seat 7 and we're all stood!
It's nothing like going on a terrace.

I’d love to have the option to stand and would be prepared to pay more for that privilege.

Nice username BTW 😀

there is a german club who have had put down seats to make a safe standing area for quite some while. They play in black and yellow. could be Borrusia Dortmund.,

Considering the north stand anyway what's the point in spending to convert it. Only difference is a seat bolted up and bars around to create your little space. Nout like terracing, doesn't increase capacity and you already stand anyway.

What about when a shot nearly goes in, surely you stand as it's happening, not a robotic standing only once its gone in.

Remember the scratching sheds. Simply stood up & if some fucker annoyed you, verbally or smelt revolting just move away. Guessing those days won't return 😞

the best ever. 2001 play off game. the roof was vibrating with the amount of decibels bouncing off it. no chance of it returning but still the best.

First time as a kid in the scratching sheds you had a couple of coppers between fans who couldn't give a toss and home and away running at each for battles.
Eye-opener.😂

The East is empty because of the bottle throwing from the north. Safe standing? You haven't a hope.

If safe standing is to come to Bloomfield Road the logical and most cost effective way of doing it is to do it when the East gets built. Ultimately 5000-7000 seats of some form are going to be bought and a bunch of contractors specialising in their installation will be on the payroll - they could swap out the North for new rail seats and use the existing seats in a portion of the new East.
BUT - and this won’t be popular - the sensible thing to do will be to give the new East exclusively over to home fans as there’ll be much better facilities and it’ll make segregation and access/egress around the ground more logical too as home fans will be the town side of the stadium and away the tourist / car park/ station side of the stadium.

Personally I’d love to see a two tiered East with a lower tier of safe standing and excellent fan friendly facilities to really make it the popular and lively side of the stadium.

4600 is all we know so far and SS said it'll be smaller rather than bigger.

4600 is a very small increase, but the usable capacity is way more than now.

Can't see us changing from the north as it's bigger than any other side with the 24 rows and can't see us wanting to change what we have with our best stand.

think bristol rovers have a new stand going up. not sure what the capacity is.

I used to like standing, but am unable to stand for a long period now due to Arthritic knees. I have stopped going to away games due to the standing, so I suppose this makes me a whinger. I just hope you don't suffer with it yourself when you get older.

He’s talking about when a penalty is being taken.
With respect if you can’t stand for a minute how do you even get yourself to games?

I did have some costings on this

It was about £75 per seat but that was two years ago

There is a way to at least partially fund the conversion on safe standing via advertising on the bottom of the seats

The existing North seats could also be recycled into the East if the safe standing was to be installed in the North
