Salford Match (Thread has new KO time)

Just been into the club shop to collect my shirt and asked and they said it is highly unlikely to go ahead tomorrow due to the extreme heat, unless the temperature drops a little in Manchester either today or tomorrow. Apparently it is real bad down there!

Just thought I would give the AVFTT a warning in advance, personally I wouldn’t go as the travel advise is to stay at home and do not travel, especially as I’m classed as one of the highly vulnerables!

38 degrees expected in Ancoats tomorrow so can't see the area near Salford's ground being too different. They've had this info for a while though so hopefully they don't leave any decision too late.

@matt_scrafton

Blackpool’s friendly against Salford tomorrow will now kick-off half an hour later at 8pm due to the UK heatwave. Temperatures are expected to rise to as high as 37℃ in the Salford area tomorrow, although this should drop to 27℃ at 8pm.
Whoever goes tomorrow, is a complete idiot and should just stay at home and watch it at home and let the match be behind close doors on YouTube!

There's loads of people having to work, which seems contrary to the warnings?

Match is mow at 8pm. Can't see that making much difference! Wednesday would make much more sense. Everton is Sunday.

Incidentally, does anyone know how I can turn on my access to emojis?
It won't allow me to use them on my own posts, but I can respond to other posts the same as before. I know they represent the death of English punctuation, but somehow the good old exclamation mark doesn't quite cut it anymore. !#

Not sure what all the fuss is over regarding the weather. I’ve just come back from 10 miles running over sand dunes and the beach. If you don’t like the heat then stay indoors and close your curtains. Personally it’s the cold weather that finishes me off, given the choice I’d rather settle for 30+ degrees of sunshine over -10 of freezing ice and snow any day.

What a daft comment, complete scaremongering over some mid 30's warm weather.

Thats in the day at its highest, the games at night.

I'm not going but nothing to do with heat.

If I did go I'd be travelling in a nice air conditioned car....

It'll be in the high 20's by the time the game starts ffs.

You sound like you've seen a map from a mainstream news report of dark red and crapped yourself.

“It is the first time a red heat warning has been issued for parts of the UK, although the extreme heat warning system was only introduced in 2021”

Pretty terrifying stuff. 🙄😂

I presume you stand at airports trying to persuade people not to go?

Please tell me this is a joke 🤣

You took a risk going the Club Shop today then…
Don't be a fool.

Do not risk it please.

Stay home and stay safe. 😏

It'll probably feel hotter staying at home indoors than out at the time the games on. 😂

Worked 43 years in industry (including ‘76) and never had a day off due to weather. Heat, winds, snow and ice, floods all the same. And I’m sure others in this period had it a lot tougher than me. Society seems to be aiming to create more and more wusses. Having said that, I agree with the decision to put the game back till later in the evening. Put my hour and half cycle ride yesterday back till evening time when I found it hot but pleasant.

Don't risk traveling in an air conditioned car as you may get hypothermia 😂

Protect the NHS! 🙄
Yeah, anyone who travels in the cold is risking the NHS being overwhelmed and is taking liberties with our safety. Bastards.

no way. It is easier to warm up in cold weather than it is to cool down in hot weather. I will be doing my exercises after tea. I will sweat buckets.

My gormless 70+ year old neighbour, who has had a heart bypass, is so tight (as a ducks.....) that he's replaced his leaking felt garage roof with a tin one (seriously). Yesterday and today, he's in his shorts (no shirt) working on the roof - while his wife has gone shopping. If he falls ill (or falls off) no one will know until his wife returns.
I could better understand his stupidity, if he was a Nobber but he doesn't like football!

That could still make him a Nobber 😏

It's pathetic Halifax scare half the country to death stay in don't travel meanwhile half the nation is pissing of abroad in July and August!
There does seem to be a lot of controlling behaviour at the moment. Seems like lockdowns have given them a thirst for it.

You can still most of the people pissing and moaning about the weather will be the same people who fuck off abroad three times a year to better climates.
