Just binned him from my FL Squad!

Newcastle's Sandro Tonali, 23, will not be eligible to play again until August and will be unavailable to feature at Euro 2024 next summer should Italy qualify.

That follows the news that Tonali has been banned from all football for 10 months by the Italian Football Federation for breaching betting rules.
 
I wonder how that pans out with his wages from Newcastle. Has he breached his contract? Does he still get his full wage for the next 10 months?

Interesting question. He'll still be paid, not sure about whether it will be in full. Think Toney was still paid in full.

Either way it's a drop in the ocean for the Saudis.
 
Again Tonoli’s suspension is inadequate.

He bet on games involving the team he played for.

He plays the “I am a gambling addict” card and only gets a 10 month ban.

Betting on games you are involved in should get a 4 year ban.

Then again, as the head of the Italian FA Gabriele Gravina was involved in a match fixing scandal we shouldn’t be surprised when.we hear him say along the lines of this is about addiction and we must help these boys
 
I have a feeling that AC Milan knew about this, bit like how Crawley knew about Bez's impending case, so offloaded Tonali on Newcastle, I reckon they could get some of the transfer fee back

It’s the financial fair play that hits them. They are locking a big % of their income on his wages restricting their ability to bring in a replacement in January

Of course he’s breached his contract he’s accused of being in breach of a basic rules of conduct in Sport if guilty, he could never be allowed to play again let alone professionally - his Union will pay his salary assuming he’s insured
