Good to see these murdering scumbags have been named and shamed.
I struggle with the difference too. The added complication here is that it was children involved. I can't imagine what has gone wrong with them to lead them down the path to do this.I always struggle with the difference between evil and mental health issues, how can anyone do such a thing? Premediated, if not insane it should be a whole life tariff.
Not retribution, punishment there is a difference. There are some fairly evil comments about retribution.
“… a captive bolt through their collective heads.”
Behave.
And still no remorse from either of them tells you all you need to know about both of them.I’m totally shocked by this crime. I think my own prejudice led me down the path of thinking they’d be kids with shocking upbringings damaged by neglect or trauma or something. Not that that would excuse it, but in my own head it might make a tiny bit more sense.
But they have stable backgrounds with parents in decent jobs and no reports of neglect etc. Intelligent articulate kids.
I can’t fathom this. I can’t understand the desire to kill at any cost, or at all to be honest. I can only imagine they aren’t wired right somewhere, psychopaths, but I don’t think psychopathy is even considered a mental illness.
A truly shocking crime and the end of a beautiful young life.
RIP Brianna

They may never get out if they don’t pass parole. If their personalities are intrinsically evil they possibly won’t as they will always be a danger to society. I suppose the sentence length is a starting point for now.I thought the sentences were a bit lenient to be honest, they should never see the outside world again. No remorse, both blamed each other and both pleaded not guilty. Full life terms for both of them would have done for me.
Their names were well known in the local community anyway so would only have been a matter of time before they came outI have my doubts about whether they should have been named. And so did Brianna's father, who said "They're nothing - they should just be forgotten about". I can easily see his point of view.
Questions can be asked about how these two developed their obsession without needing to name them.
Instead, girl X and boy Y are probably now revelling in the knowledge that their names are known and may well be revered by any other twisted individuals out there, just as they themselves were "inspired" by notorious killers.
And, these days more than ever it seems, there's the risk of angry people with no connection to Brianna seeking some form of self-righteous retribution against the families and anyone else they see as indirectly responsible, when as Lala noted.....
On past examples LaLa, I wouldn't be too sure about that. They may never get out if they don’t pass parole. If their personalities are intrinsically evil they possibly won’t as they will always be a danger to society. I suppose the sentence length is a starting point for now.
Yes, that always go well.I'd release them. Let the public hand out the justice.
Totally agree. The only name that needs remembering in all of this is Brianna Ghey.I have my doubts about whether they should have been named. And so did Brianna's father, who said "They're nothing - they should just be forgotten about". I can easily see his point of view.
Don't like to hear that Bend It. The justice system has to be clean and professional. Whatever might go through our minds as individuals, if we are charged with upholding the law it must be by the book. Not retribution, punishment there is a difference.
If it was my daughter or son etc, evil doesn't come into it, just some sort of parity for their actions.
When you've been involved with this human detritus for as many years I did, you get a different perspective of things and certainly don't tend to rely on the Criminal Justice System to meter the justice required.
This is what happens when society falls apart with manufactured culture wars that, in this case, have led to death because someone was trans.I’m totally shocked by this crime. I think my own prejudice led me down the path of thinking they’d be kids with shocking upbringings damaged by neglect or trauma or something. Not that that would excuse it, but in my own head it might make a tiny bit more sense.
