Sirmione is on the agenda for our travel day between Bergamo and BardolinoI’m thinking of doing a driving tour of Italy next year TAM either flying to Pisa or Bergamo and picking the hire car up from there. Done Tuscany a few times and Siena is the most stunning place you can imagine as are the Italian lakes, but if you don’t have the time to drive to Riva stay south of the lake and visit Sirmione very pretty place.
And that could be the deciding factor S1. When l started planning this in 2019 for the trip in 2020 hire cars were very reasonable but when l looked recently they had increased significantly.Check out hire car prices.
I recently tried to hire a car for 3.5 weeks and they wanted £4k (that's not a typo) for a 4 door average saloon.
That would be good TAM thanks for the offer.Sirmione is on the agenda for our travel day between Bergamo and Bardolino

I haven't travelled anywhere for 2.5 years and need to catch up before we leave Singapore at some point.
Also remember the places I am going to in Asia are like going to Majorca from Manchester.

Cost of living is astronomical and don't need to be there anymore, will always visit as have made friends for life and love the place. Why would you want to leave Singapore.….
well ok…cost of buying and then running a car.…
……very expensive if you want your own property, unless you can be on the HD list and local pension entitlements.
…vert hot and humid and most likely a thunderstorm late afternoon or early evening and even first thing.
…..being classed as a white ghost…..….or foreign devil.
…very expensive if you like a “drink”.…though “Hawker “food is still great value.
….becoming far to pro China and the CCP.
….however still a great place as you well knowand a cheaper Malaysia is just across the road( so to speak).
You lucky so and so going to Rhyl. I wish I was going back there.
Now that I could do….Lake Garda is absolutely breathtaking at the North End of the Lake…and the cable car from Malcesine to the ski slopes is worth doing as is visiting Limone On the opposite side.Grand Tour of Italy starting 28th May

I’m still hanging on to my Singapore Dollars in case we go back.Luckily with all the relatives we have there( more than we have here in fact) we can usually do a visit there without spending a fortune as they know where to take usCost of living is astronomical and don't need to be there anymore, will always visit as have made friends for life and love the place.
Probably move to Thailand for a bit with MrsOne as we love it there.
We just want to try living in different places in Asia while we can - as you never know what's around the corner.

Agree with all that BleachNow that I could do….Lake Garda is absolutely breathtaking at the North End of the Lake…and the cable car from Malcesine to the ski slopes is worth doing as is visiting Limone On the opposite side.
Hope you wear your Tangerine Top in Bologna.and if you have time a stroll around Lucca is well worth it….and a glass or three of Bardolino at Lake Garda.

One thing for certain you can’t beat Italy for a holiday wether it be way up North,Pisa,Florence,Rome,Sorrento, and the island of Sicily.
Still our favourite European destination by a long way.

Currently in Lindos - hire a car and tour the island. Old town is a unesco world heritage site but that and Lindos get very busy during the day with cruise ships and coach tours. If you can visit in the evening. Embonas in the mountains has some nice wineries to visit, prasonisi at the southern tip is worth a trip to see where the Aegean meets the med. Haraki and Stegna are 2 lovely small villages on the sea with great fish restaurants. A day trip yo the island of Symi is definitely with it - it’s stunningRhodes beginning of July. Looking forward to it, been told the old town is worth a visit. If anyone has been would be grateful for any recommendations on where or what to do
