Season over do we play youth?

I notice Jack Moore is out of contract in Summer, with several players likely to leave. he and others deserve a chance to see if they can step up.
Port Vale played youth players against us and they proved more than capable.
There are first teamers who I do not particularly want to see again, and there is no point in us giving them game time.

I don't think any manager would do that until we are mathematically safe. Also Critch will still be trying to aim for the play offs in his own mind anyway and trying to get the senior players onboard with that mindset. If he threw a load of kids in it would be the equivalent of waving the white flag.

We're safe, but the season isn't over completely. You never know.

Is this the same white flag we wave at nearly every away match, take your point on not being mathematically safe, but we are almost certain to be L1 next season, and some of the young players could be used off the bench.
I suppose the upside is knowing which league we are in is we can plan recruitment etc accordingly

Why?
A lot of our youth are out on loan including some of the supposed better ones do we call them back?
What benefit for a manager who could be out of a job if we got stuffed?
I go to games to hopefully see us win couldn't give a toss about blooding kids if their good enough they'll get game time.
From what I've seen in cup, friendlies and a development squad game there isn't a single one of them anywhere near good enough for our first team.

As to the Port Vale comment about youth there on loan from the likes of Man Utd & Spurs same as we had Patino and Fioreni last year way better than what we've got.

Whilst Tuesday was, and plenty of other away games were, very disappointing we are still only 6 points off 6th with 33 points to play for so the season is far from over. At this stage of the season the table can look dramatically better or worse for many teams after just 1 game so to give up on it now makes no sense.

Hopefully we will approach the final 11 games the way we did against Peterborough & Bolton rather than how we did against Orient.

3 pts to play for every game and even though I think the chances of us putting some consistently good performances together to make or even get close to the play offs are very slim we do not want to end the season on a massive downer by losing way more games than we win in the final eleven games.

That's my view but knowing what Critchley will do is impossible to guess. Think he'll give it a few more games yet before doing anything too radical.

Critchley and radical in the same sentence?

20/1 to go up with bet 365. 200/1 would be more about right !!
Critchley has already destroyed the confidence of the first team squad with his chopping and changing , please don't let him get his hands on the youth !!

NO way play the youth. Senior players are paid to do a job and that’s what they must do especially now and win the remaining 11 fixtures 😂😂😂😂

Play the Youth? Critchley would use it as an excuse as he did when we played Derby that season.

Season is far from over even without abysmal away record
Teams in the top 8 will invariably play each other and drop points.
Tomorrow Stevenage are away at Lincoln, Portsmouth v Oxford and on Tuesday Bolton (who are now feeling the pressure) are away at Barnsley
There are loads of permutations and unexpected results will happen.

One or two wins and rivals dropping points n it’s game on for the play offs. Unlikely but the table can change either way so quickly. Too early to start playing kids.

This is what defeatist reads like
Thank god Critchley does not have this mentality.

Sure I know we are now unlikely to make playoffs it is not impossible and until then you scrap for every point

If he starts playing the youth and all we do is lose then it’s just another pathetic excuse he can use. Only experienced football managers like Klopp can get away with playing kids and still get results.

Defeatist or realist?
I am personally extremely glad I do not have Critchley's mentality.
I am sure Klopp does not view playing his kids in cup matches as defeatist, it shows exactly what they are capable of

We don’t have any youth/development players available, they have been loaned out.
