Segantii

It's some high level stuff.

The claims in the FT which are based on things that in part apparently happened over a year ago anyway, are disputed by that article I posted.

Even if those 2 banks, 1 of which apparently halted all trade and the other partially, did what was said.

There's many other big banks out there.

The FT even said a number of other banks including Goldman Sachs were still trading, why would they do that if there was any issues.
Sounds more of an industry issue then solely at Segantii's door to me

So, he’s coming across to me, as a chairman, who is also a shrewd businessman, who doesn’t put all his cards on the table and seems to make carefully measured decisions. That article did sound to me like someone trying to stir up shit. Maybe it’s because SS called the guy shit 😂

I think it’s fair to say that most businesses aren’t doing so well at the moment due to worldwide concerns. Which means that this article is somewhat irrelevant.

Some very big numbers thrown around there.
It would be interesting to know what SS is worth (not Segantii) but understandably so he’s probably not going to divulge that information, as it could go against him in negotiating with others in the football world.

Couple of disgruntled employees stirring the pot was my first thought

Had he not been Blackpool owner this sort of stuff would have either not merited print or maybe just a couple of paragraphs

Business loses a couple of clients . Wow big deal .

Am sure someone gave an estimate based of the portfolio worth and what Sadler would approximately be worth, something like a % of deals and % of overall... was it?

Was it @seasideone ?

At one point Mr Sadler and his partners owner something like 8% of the fund. This is a few years ago when it was rather smaller. Also Mr Sadler may have had to sell down some of his stake to fund his BFC purchase.

Hedge funds typically take 2% of the total value of the fund every year and 20% of the profits as their fee.

Of course this is variable, and you have to pay staff salaries, bonuses, rents, utilities etc out of it.

Clients pulling out, manager leaving, fans upset and in tears over these actions, very worrying times for Mr Sadler. Could BST send him a letter for full explanation.

The estimated portfolio net worth of Segantii Capital is between £2.8bn - £5bn looking at the articles I can see online. There is very little I can see that gives an estimate on his own personal wealth.

Well the portfolio as per the article is worth 3.5 billion.

2% of that per year would be 70 million.

Interesting to get ball park % but probably hard to say anything with any certainty.

The UK company (which is a subsidiary) of the HK business made a profit of just under £24m in the last financial report (30th September 2021). On 30th March 2021 the UK company paid to the shareholder (guess who) a dividend of just over £14.5m. So a nice little earner from purely the UK business.

Any guesses how that would translate to the main company? Any other subsidiaries?

They opened an American LLC in 2020 which is a subsidiary of the UK business. Both the UK and US businesses provide advisory services only and don't manage funds.

As stated above the estimated value of funds under management by Segantii is $3.5bn so will be driving revenues in the low hundred million dollars with profits probably in the range of 25 - 50 % of revenues. Not sure what percentage shareholding SS owns but I suspect it is close to, or is, the full 100%.

It was also reported at one time iirc that SS had 8 % holding of the total funds. It was significantly smaller then so I'd assume his % holding to have dropped but probably in excess of $100m.

I could cope with losing 70 million if I had 3.5 billion!!
Think I spent more than 2% of my wealth on beer this weekend!
