Separate Web Page for Women's football on BBC

Just wanted to see how the men's football was going tonight and had to scroll down through 23 women's matches I couldn't care less about.

Please give women's football it's own page, it's virtually a different sport - just saying, tin hat on !!

Words of support to help my upcoming defence in court for some sort of diversity crime much appreciated.

Yep you see something like Chelsea 10 Arsenal 0 and think whatttt, better check that out and then oh, double hat-trick by Jane Smith etc.

Oh its the womens. 🙄

Just hate having comedy football shoved in my face endlessly. Just want to know about real footy. Why make everyone scroll through numerous pages of pointless comedy football to get to the real football!
They push the sport that they have significant TV rights for. Sound logic, and God forbid that you have scroll down a bit.

Forgetting the having to scroll moaning for a minute, surely it makes sense in a normal world to have news the majority of people want to read first, whether on a web page or a newspaper?

10000 killed in a earthquake page 1

Budgie survives bee sting page 37

or separate said interests so that budgie lovers have their own web page. I'm not likening women's football to budgie concerns, it's just something that sprang to mind, which is maybe something I need to have a good think about when I get a minute. I don't have a budgie or any history with budgies. Just for the record.

But we've had centuries of men controlling society, expecting women to basically look after us, banning them from sports clubs and all sorts of activities and positions. So its about positively doing the opposite in order to change things to make a fairer society, however daft that might look right now. It seems perfectly reasonable, respectful and decent, to me. The right thing to do.

If they had there own Channel they could watch it in the kitchen whilst washing up.

On the weekends it's almost all men's football on BBC's page. Today in men's football there were three lower division EFL matches, three EFL Cup matches, and a full slate of non-league and Scottish league matches.

Today in women's football there were UEFA World Cup qualifiers. Might have had something to do with it.

In an organised society, to lump everything together seems contrary to common sense. We categorise things in libraries. It isn't difficult. It's unavoidable in the news we watch live or in the TV programming, but I wouldn't want to trawl through pages of anything to finally get to what I wanted when the technology is there to facilitate separating that. It's an agenda thing as others have said, but in my case is being completely counterproductive. For balance I like cricket but am not bothered about the IPL and other foreign big bash type things, let alone women's cricket.
As for the shoddy BBC web pages, Finland Women 1 Republic of Ireland 2... A good result for the men's team on current form !! It's in the Women's World Cup Qualifying section!! The first result in the list is Slovakia Women v Georgia Women, really? 20 odd matches later we get to Arsenal v Leeds. I've nothing against women's sport, but if we can't come up with system of separating information into easily selectable categories in this day and age then it's no wonder the country is going to the dogs. I rest my case, even if many think I'm wrong.

How many people go to watch your average top level womens football match?
I would have thought that is the thing that dictates how much media coverage it receives. When we are in League 2 I expect us to get very little attention from the media and for it to increase as we go up the leagues as the crowds get bigger.
The Guardian, BBC and sky sports are changing that for women's football by giving it a higher profile than the Championship but is the interest there to give it so much attention?
The same arguement applies to how much the women get paid, if they pull in crowds paying the same money as the men then they should be paid the same. If they don't, even though technically some might be better, then they get paid less. Seems reasonable and fair to me.
For all I know there might be huge interest in women's football but from my own experience I don't know any paying fans of it or hear anyone outside the media talking about it.

If it wasn't for men's football and club owners paying for the ladies game they'd be wouldn't be getting paid and would have to go out and get jobs.'
It's ridiculous how they ram it down our throats no one cares.

It's gotten me a few times where I click on the main bbc sport football page to see "Arsenal beat Barcelona" or some other headline which makes me think "why the hell are Arsenal playing Barca - oh its womens football". It's not something i'd get particularly upset about but seems a bit forced on behalf of the BBC.

The third story on the BBC new website the other day was 'Ed Sheeran has Covid', it was before the coup in Sudan. At least the story that a 95 year old woman isn't going to Glasgow rightly took priority with lots of analysis.

Download the FotMob app . It's much quicker and instant updates and you can get notifications about the Pool. In fact it notifies you there is a goal before Sky or it happens on TV which was really annoying last season watching iFollow

The BBC football pages are abysmal.

As if the Premier League (male and female) is all that exists.
Lots of the non league matches now seem to get no coverage whatsoever which is a shame. Also I've noticed that for lots of Championship lge 1 and 2 games no crowd figures are given. Whats that about?

The BBC has taken upon itself to rearrange our minds about a number of issues. This is just one of them.
Time will tell if this is the way to build fairness into society.

Just read yours to my wife who wants me to ask if the budgie's OK and none the worse for its traumatic experience. Oh, and please don't direct me to the latest edition of Budgie World otherwise I might end up having to take out a subscription.

They need to find a way of making them easy to distinguish and disregard, how about they put women's scores in pink? 🤣

It's an attempt to generate more interest in the Women's game, which is fine. It's also fine to acknowledge it's a different sport at a different level and that the very best female footballer would struggle in a League 2 Men's game.

The blunt reality is that if there were separate pages or categories for Men's and Women's articles, clicks on Men's football would stay the same and Women's football would be much lower.

Some of the comments on this thread 🙄
I hope 'the little womans' got your tea on the table for 5 tonight or its time to kick off again.

Half Man Half Biscuit - that's a blast from the past. I went to see them in the 80s but hit the ale too much beforehand. Woke up in the morning and had the hand written playlist from the gig. Apparently I had taken it upon myself to sit with the soundman for a better view. The BBC at the time weren't promoting female bands :) I'm afraid the budgies dead, killed in an earthquake, the news coverage was limited due to a three page report on an 8th tier women's football match which ended 37-35.

I’m certainly no sexist, indeed Mrs tiggers tea will be in the table at 6, BUT I have a marginal interest in women’s football at best, so I personally would much prefer to see separate pages for men and women’s in every sport not just football

I think that the OP makes a perfectly valid point but it was inevitable he would be accused of misogyny

They could just have their own section for all their recreational activities, baking, knitting, football etc. Too far ??

What annoys me is that BBC only want to highlight sports that men play aswell.
Netball is way more popular as a woman sport but it isn't highlighted at all in the way cricket, football and to a certain extent rugby.

It may have been mentioned already, but there is a separate designated page on BBC Football for Women - scroll to the right and it’s the last button.

I don't think it had been mentioned, but on my laptop there is just a W and the rest hidden but you are absolutely correct. I note the results section for yesterday has all the women's results but no men's results, which you would expect in a normal world in a women's football section. It makes it worse... not only have they taken over the men's section, they've got their own section as well. Just got to pack my bags, my wife has just kicked me out !! And please no jokes about men not being able to find the women's button !! Taxi.

I left my heart in Papworth General.

Agree. I've a few gripes with them. Teams are named an hour before kick off. Some of the lower league tams it takes half an hour or so before they put them on the bbc website.
Similar to the o/p last night and previously it put's all the EFL trophy fixtures before the lower league games. Is that because there's PL U21 teams in it?
Yep, BBC football website is getting worse and it's often a couple of minutes behind Sky Sports website for scores updates.

How come Scottish Prem is above a women’s high international tonight. Doesn’t make sense.

God help us. Men thinking they're funny too!

It's their channel btw. 🤠
apologies Voyeur I went to Palatine we didn't worry about things like that, education is important but other stuff is more importanter.

For the record it was a joke, i know these days not PC. I think the ladies game has come on massively and should get the exposure of the men's game the rate it is growing. I can foresee in time a lady or two playing in the prem.

Really, you'll be telling us women can beat men at darts next 😎 and let's not reopen the debate about the improvement in the standard of darts such that it is only a matter of time before we see an 8-dart finish (apologies to anyone who went to Palatine who is thinking about that). Nothing against Palatine by the way, my dad went there although it might have been called something else.
