Shayne Lavery

In fairness I think it was quite a tough game to come in to on Saturday. Never easy away from home hanging on to a lead and I do wonder if he was the right man for the job having only just come back from injury. We need him to come on when we have a decent lead so he can play without pressure.
Agree with all of the above - his game isn't shielding a ball and keeping possession which was basically what he looked like he was trying to do on Saturday.

thought he played really well last night, was a constant thorn in the side of the chelts CH's with his aggression, pressing and his pace, deserved the goal. played well when he came on against oxford as well. Shayne and Killian play in very different ways if one way isnt working we have the option to try something different.

Would have been interesting to see lavs and Kouassi partnered up front last night and give Rhodes a bit of a rest.

Lavery was very good. Kouassi also did well when he came on but I’d pick Lavery ahead of him based on recent performances. If we need to be more direct, then Kouassi would be better but it’s a bit of a myth you need a big man and little man upfront.

worked extremely hard and it's important to say, he was played in his best position and Critch realises that.

If you watched his interview he does say he's struggled to get back to fitness - game time and goals and I think he'll be flying
(great he likes Jordan as well).

It's pretty much a 100 minute game now, and there are loads of games, unlikely, but if we do well in the cup even more.
Rhodes, Joseph, Lavery and Kouassi all have something to offer and will all get plenty of minutes on the pitch, it's down to Critchley to pick the right starting combination and know when to change it.

He tinkers too much.

They days of sticking with a winning team are long gone. They have a squad to use and what works against one team might not work against another. Although there is a balance that needs to be found.
Agree but was it 5 changes on Tuesday?

To many, that.

Possibly, but we were 3 0 up just before half time and ended up winning. I'd take that every game.
The thing is, they were bottom of the league and we made them look good in the 2nd half.
I've always believed you start with your best team available and win the game first, then change it around if you have that luxury.
It's not like you can only bring on one substitute.
They brought on 4 at half time and it completely changed the complection of the game.

Dembele playing behind Lavery and Rhodes possibly was our best available team on the night. Dembele can spot the passes that the pair of them can thrive on.
It could be said that Cheltenhams manager did a lot of tinkering at half time and Critchley didn't do enough.
Agree with you about half time subs, should be used more often given the rules.
Each half is a game in its own right, the second half doesn't usually mirror the first because the score has often changed, I think there should be more tinkering but it has to be effective tinkering!
