Six hours soaked through

Caught in the pre match monsoon on Saturday and was wetter than the new years day game at Chesterfield. Even my feet were soaked. Watched the game, Shivered for most of it, then delayed train and bus home. Result , absolutely stinking cold, not COVID, just a beauty of a common cold. Feeling miserable.

That's a bit of an "old wives tale".
You don't catch a cold from being cold.
It's a virus. 🤧

Did you not use to take spare clothes to a game?

Did it rain then? I remember saying to my son when we emerged from the Dog and P 'pavement looks a bit wet, maybe they won't use the sprinklers today'. Stayed dry all afternoon.

Lateral Flow test was done yesterday, negative. that's how I know it's a cold.

As for T77 talking rubbish. Be aware of your facts before typing is my response.
Hi Curryman. Just to mention, I have been feeling rubbish so took two lateral flow tests over the last few days. Both came back negative. I then did a PCR test and it came back positive last night. I don't know of anyone who has tested positive from a LF test then come back negative with the PCR. But I know quite a few people who had negative LFs that came back positive from a PCR. Might be worth getting a PCR test too.

Just remember that haircut, it'll put a smile back on your face.
Maybe the right time to move to the Gold Coast.

Why are people even getting tested anymore ? I thought the whole point of us all putting a 2 jab vaccine in our bodies that no one knows is safe long term was so we could just get on with our lives and treat covid as a cold/flu.

I am exactly the same , feeling absolutely lousy sore throat , cough , took the COVID test yesterday, negative, My jeans were stuck to me , so stood all match , back row.
I was lucky that we were going out after the match so I asked my wife for a change of clothing.
Saw your post earlier in week & must have been terrible being wet & cold for that journey home ?

Just bought takeaway chips from the Yorkshire fisheries ready to walk down to Bloomers when the heavens opened. Bugger that thought I, and sat in the chippy eating them whilst it passed over. Arrived at the ground with 2 minutes to spare.

People are getting worse colds, sore throats etc. because we've all been wearing masks for two years and therefore have low immunity to normal infections. Either that or we've forgotten what having a cold feels like.

Got marooned on Bloomfield Road walking down from No.10 just before 17.00, walking into the gale and torrential rain. Drenched, but fortunately nobody in the North sat down so it could have been even more uncomfortable. Peeled off my soggy shoes at around 21.00 then rung out the socks. To stave off any possible germs I forced more alcohol down my throat. Better safe than sorry.

Had a few friends who like Curryman got absolutely soaked and were sat dripping wet throughout the game and as a consequence went straight home. We were very fortunate and got to the ground before the monsoon and as a consequence had a great night out after the game.

Was very lucky to enter the ground just seconds after the heavens opened( was buying a programme when it suddenly poured down) but entrance 15 had no queue thank goodness.Watched from under the tunnel as the players were out doing the warm ups thinking if this carries on then this might get called off at the last moment due to waterlogging.Plucked up the courage to walk to seat and by some miracle the rain was somehow not drifting into the South but was definitely sweeping “ hard” into the East along with a strong wind so I was hoping the QPR fans would get drenched( not that I have a mean streak😉) especially if it carried on into the game itself.
But in fairness it gradually stopped and the pitch remarkable seemed puddle free and played surprisingly well even the area where their keepers had been practicing which had been slowly turning into a sea of mud around either side of the goal line.
As for that Chesterfield game I was fortunately sat in that small away section in the main( only) stand so was spared the worst of the downpour but it was still freezing cold.
The wettest I have ever been was the Huddersfield game where we seconds away from promotion only for ( yes) QPR to snatch it off us in the final minute at Villa Park.Hence I would have been more than happy to see their fans get absolutely soaked to the skin on Saturday ( not that I’m one to bear grudges😀).

Hope those( BFC only) who caught a cold feel better soon.

People have definitely forgot that you get colds and get ill.

I think I was about 7, when my mum taught me that if you get piss wet through you need to get out your clothes or “you’ll catch a cold”.

This now seemingly shocks grown adults.

That Chesterfield game remains to this day, for me, the benchmark of being cold and/or wet. Awful day. So much so that my father left at half time and sat in the coach for the rest of the match and waited for us to leave!

Cold and flu infections were considerably suppressed last winter because of the lockdowns and working from home. There is no doubt that has lead to less general immunity to them this year and one of the reasons they are encouraging people to have flu jabs.

There is what the media are calling a "super cold" going round. Our immune systems have all been weakened by these lockdowns.

Took my two daughters to that chesterfield game. They were crying their eyes out so we left early in the second half. Strangely as soon as we started walking back to the car they cheered right up! 🐳😂

One of my best decisions was to sit in the main stand that day at Cheaterfield, kept dry but felt total sympathy with Pool fans on the open terrace

It would have shocked everyone on the same train as Wilf if he had taken his clothes off in front of them!! 🤣

Is that the game where the Police took pity on us and moved those who wanted from the open end to the seats under cover.
That was one of them, I think there were 2 games there that it never stopped raining.

Wasn't it pretty wet the day we played at Oldham in the play offs in 2007?

Also hammered it down as we walked from the pub to Hartlepool one year…… I’m glad we don’t have to go to shit grounds like there and Chesterfield anymore 👍🏼

My youngest lad got soaked to the skin. He already had a cold. He walked home at half time and watched second half on telly

I drew the short straw and had to Police the Pool end that day with the fans. Had my tangerine scarf under my uniform and still feel soaked thinking about it. The weather did absolutely everything that afternoon....Snow, hail, fog, rain, wind and even a bit of sun.

Only thing to compare was watching the Pool at Mansfield in the early 80's when it was snowing and blowing a gale

At the Chesterfield game I asked my son, then in his twenties, if he wanted to sit or stand in the open. In the open said, more atmosphere. Big mistake!

I was in C Fresh around 5.00 and it was bouncing down. Waiting until it eased before going down to the ground.

Hopefully you are feeling a bit better now cm I’m not, I’ve worked with broken ribs & a broken hand, self employed so put a piece of 2 by 1 up the cast so I could drive but this is the worst I have felt for as long as I can remember, had the 2 jabs and done 3 tests since Monday, all clear, my voice has totally gone for the first time in my life & I’m having to text mates to phone customers to cancel jobs, if you research covonia chesty cough mixture you’ll find that the government bought up 95% of shares in 2017, make of that what you will!
Ok I made the last bit up
