Smallest Away following of the season?

Can't see more than 250 travelling nearly 500 miles tomorrow to see Evans team play goofball especially if it's on TTV - lowest away following of the season?

This is Blackpool during the illuminations, the whole league's most anticipated away game. Even a side with only 4000 home fans per game should be better supported than that. We'll see.

Nope.
The next home match against Cheltenham , this coming tuesday night, will have even less visiting fans.

The difference between away followings in the Championship and League 1 are massive.

Swear Fleetwood last time brought just under 2k here, I get it's basically a home game for 'em but let's say they brought 1,800. That is 6.9% of their 26,000 population. That's the equivalent of us taking 9,600 away. Obviously there are loads of factors that go into that but it just puts it into perspective.
That's nonsense though. They don't all live in Fleetwood, just as when we play a London game, I'd say less than half the away following actually travel from Blackpool itself.

It isn't nonsense at all. As I said, loads of factors are in play and you could reel 'em off:
It's Fleetwood's biggest game, not all Fleetwood fans will live in Fleetwood, not everyone that comes will be out and out Fleetwood fans.

But regardless, Fleetwood will make up a huge percentage of Fleetwood's fanbase funnily enough so it just puts it in perspective. A club from a town with 26,000 people in it taking nearly 2k away, even down the road isn't something to mock - and they've done that every time we've played 'em post-boycott. The suggestions above are as if Fleetwood bring 200 fans here, which isn't true.

I have no love for them in the slightest, but they've never brought a shite away following here. Given the size of the town I'd even say it's commendable, they basically bring their entire home gate here.

You were comparing the two fanbases. There is no comparison. It's literally their Cup Final, as you mentioned.

It's 7 miles down the road. We took well over a thousand on a 500 mile round trip. Compare their attendance when they go to Charlton. 50-100. That represents the depth of their fanbase.

Why goofball? They have had a great start, puts us to shame a bit! Evans has a good track record and would make us better than we are at the moment.

26,000 v 144,000.

Word it how you want but those stats don’t lie.

A no brainer really.

They’re the laughing stock of the EFL

To be fair building Poolfoot Community Training Centre in Thornton has increased Fleetwood's popularity across North Fylde. Bit sickening really. Hopefully the turncoats will see sense once the journey back to non league gathers pace.

Very true , I see it all the time in and around Cleveleys and as you say Poolfoot has a lot to do with it.

Put us to shame? We were absolutely outclassing them for 90 minutes. They will finish bottom half. We will go up.

Give it a rest with their population analogy. There's Rossall, Cleveleys, over Wyre, Thornton etc. Like quoting Burnleys's population and failing to realise there is Nelson, Colne, Padiham, Barnoldswick etc.

Kept us over 10,000 and average crowd now 10.828 - can we beat Oxford and then be interesting to see the next attendance against Cheltenham.

It is the only objective measurement you can use, that is their population and they are a football club within that town. As I said earlier loads of factors contribute to attendances, but the idea it plays no part is ridiculous.

The idea that Fleetwood have a catchment area like Burnley is ludicrous. If you want to get into the subjective we've had a 110 year head start on all of those catchment areas and even Fleetwood as a town itself where we will have plenty of fans. They also have Fylde to compete with. By that logic if the catchment area of the Fylde Coast is so lucrative, our attendances are bordering on a disgrace.

You know very well I'm not comparing catchment areas as equal populations. I was merely making an analogy as Bumley are also hailed as a big fan base v town population. You could also use Norwich as a county team drawing in most fans from an entire county because there aren't any rivals (and again I may need to point out to you it's a different analogy!) You also fail to take into account how cosmopolitan Blackpool is. I'd be hard pressed to believe that more than 1 in 3 Blackpool residents (unlike interbred Fishywood) don't come from, or were born in Blackpool. Certainly in certain jobs and even where I live I'm in a very small minority being a Sandgrownun.

All this 110 year history malarkey is irrelevant. Where were Codhead fans when they were shit? I've been to pre-season friendlies there in the 80s and 90s and there's been a few dozen. They are glory hunters.

I have no love for Fleetwood so I don't have any desire to keep defending them, I just see them as an almost brand new, tiny club from a tiny town that exist next to a fairly successful, established league side. So how can anyone expect them to have good gates or have good away followings?

Just for info.. Rossall is actually part of Fleetwood 🤣🤣

And the demographic of Blackpool is the most transient in the UK, if we're playing that game. Less than a third of the population are born here, so many will have previous footballing alliances, reducing potential support.

Fleetwood are all born there because no one would move there voluntarily 😉
