So what happens to Bowler?

A lot of our fans have tangerine glasses on, yeah he can provide the odd bit of excitement but 9 times out of 10 he does exactly the same thing and loses the ball, trying to cut in between 2 defenders.

Can’t see how it’s going to pan out for him, no where near good enough for the premiership, good business for Blackpool getting the fee they did.

Anyone else wondering if Forest have ruined his career? Clearly a shadow of the player he was. Lacking confidence and even general football awareness for me. So what happens to him at the end of the season?
Like most starry eyed footballers Blackpool was his shop window for the end of his career as he’s taken his pieces of silver and will continue to do so ..

What I never get about talented footballers is they greed for money - I’d jusy wanna play in a team and a lace that loves me - winning not much wouldn’t bother me but having a Town statue and forever being acknowledge for being half good would matter to me.

McCarthy has helped to nullify Bowler. Take the Coventry game last week, CJ on the left creating havoc early doors, likewise with QPR. Imagine if Bowler was on the right at the same time - the problems we've create for defences?
They wouldn't have a clue what to do, and the space for Jerry in the middle would be huge.
He's missing a trick for sure - plus, MM signed Curtis Nelson, who IMO is calamitous and his mistakes seem to go under the radar.

Now that is a funny post…comical in fact and the fact you call Nelson calamitous says a lot more about you than it does him. Maybe a name change to FyShortsight

which creative players would they be then? If for once you can be honest with yourself, there isn't a single creative player in the team who he's not dropped. probably more than once. Carey,Fiorini,Rogers,Bowler, Patino,Poveda and you can even include CJ if you wish although he's sadly lacking in flair. So come on then, who are these creative players cementing a place in the team and playing?, That's McCarthy for you, knocking the confidence out of all our creative players by dropping them. Yet you back him.
You can't have it both ways. You're always bemoaning the lack of service to Jerry because of the lack of creativity.

The truth is, we don't have that many players who can consistently pass to a team mate, as we've all been saying all season long.

You're so wrong on so many levels.

I've bemoaned the lack of service to Jerry because we have very little creativity in the centre of midfield. A player like Yates doesn't rely on crosses into the box from out on the the wing. He's much more suited to central midfield players trying to slip passes into him. So yep, you are right, we've got players who can't consistently pass to a team mate but that's our central midfield players. Knocking a cross in from out on the wing is much harder to pick out a team mate when there's usually more than enough defenders in the way.

Bowler re-joined the Seasiders on loan from Nottingham Forest in January.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an excellent first spell at Bloomfield Road, scoring eight goals in 45 appearances to help the club to a 16th-placed finish in their first season back in the Championship and he started this campaign well, with two goals in seven appearances to earn him the move to the City Ground in September.

Bowler was immediately loaned out to Olympiacos and after a disappointing spell in Greece, he returned to Lancashire earlier this year.

He has scored just two goals and registered one assist in his second stint at the club so far, while he has also struggled for regular starts, which is unlikely to force him into contention at his parent club next season.

Bowler will probably be allowed to depart Forest on a permanent basis this summer and while it has not worked out at Blackpool this time around, he could be a real asset in League One and would be more suited to Dobbie's style of football if he were to secure the permanent job.

under a very good coach there is a decent player in there, very tricky on the ball when it goes right, but doesnt really know when to be tricky and when to do something simple or just make a pass. He also doesnt see other players or the general movement in the game. At the moment i dont think you could play him in a pass and go style team because a) he rarely makes a pass and very rarely moves into space. when hes running with the ball he's very head down so even when he takes two or three players out of the game with his tricks he rarely brings others into the move. you might say he has a sweet left foot, but on the move hes a terrible passer of the ball. Even under critchley he rarely made assists, which is why I personally dont regard him as a much of a creative player. If he can learn to understand when to use his tricks, and learns to get his head up, he could be a very good player at a big team,

If forest do go down i think hell play sporadically in the championship and then get loaned out for the rest of the season to a L1 club. hes going to have to rebuild his career, although he can now do it knowing hes got a decent wedge stuck away.

I’m not sure it’s fair to judge JB on his latest spell here. He deservedly got a move to a much bigger club on a much bigger contract. The draw of a loan move to Olympiacos and playing for a famous club like that with a handful of household names as teammates would be alluring to any Championship player. It’s a shame it didn’t work out over in Greece but 6 months in the sun, a degree of fame and chance to enjoy his newfound fortune would have been incredible for a 23 year old lad !
He didn’t play much football so came back here out of match fitness, out of form and low on confidence. He joined a team that was disjointed, low on confidence and getting beat week in week out and the new manager didn’t have a clue how to handle him either. It’s no surprise he’s not exactly flourished !

JB goes back to Forest and will fancy himself to get a good preseason in around much better players and playing in a team likely not to be dominated game after game. At the very least he’ll have his choice of loan clubs next season and with an attacking team or a team that gets possession of the ball and has multiple attacking threats he’ll likely do just fine.

He’ll have a very good career playing Championship or lower end Prem football - see Matt Phillips and Tom Ince

They have bought a commodity which cant be sent back, he still will be a championship player

Maybe a tad harsh but certainly far closer to those on here who fancied him to win to go on to win the Ballon D'Or.

Especially under Critchley, after every game he was either a world beater or sh1te but like so many other things he was probably somewhere in between.

If he becomes more consistent there is no reason why he can't have a career at a higher level but I don't think that will happen until his confidence improves.

I certainly wish him all the best.

He disappears into the abyss which is what he and his agent voted for in Sept

If i was Josh, i would ask for a return to Greece along with the Ouzo and Mythos coupled with hearty portions of Kleftico, Stifado and Stamnata.

Based on yesterday's performance, I really hope Bowler thinks about another season on loan with him. Dobbie has got the best out of him and he would tear up League One.
Yes, Josh was back to his old magic self yesterday & Norwich couldn't handle him. He just needs to improve his decision making with that final pass / shot.
Dobbs has rebuilt his confidence that the previous 2 managers destroyed.

I think you’re on the right track there.
No-one’s mentioned the time Bowler spent at (QPR?) Everton or Hull. He flopped but chatting to some Hull fans, they thought Critchley had created a new player out of him.
No chance at Forest and “returned unopened“ from Greece.
So, glimmers under SD. Why wouldn’t Josh think we offer a light at the end of the tunnel?
PS: money talks. Another Championship club might risk him.

Bowler will not play for Forest in the Prem. Patino probably won't feature regularly or at all in the Prem for Arsenal; Rogers and Fiorini will never play for City in the Prem and Poveda won't play for Leeds.
Not saying they're bad players by any stretch but that's the reality for them. I hope they make some sensible footballing decisions career wise in the next few months.

Not sure where Bowler will end up, but I’ll be glad when McCarthy has left he’s caused no end of trouble on here !

Pretty sure Poveda has made over 10 Premier league appearances but hopefully Leeds will not be back in the Premier league for sometime. Have to agree Rogers & Fiorini wont get anywhere near starting for City. Bowler needs to restart his career again as he is well down the pecking order at Forest especially if they manage to stay up. Patino is interesting as he is still only 19 and will go to the under 20 WC in Argentina with England but won't start at Arsenal so I expect another Championship loan next season unless he actually does want to move away from Arsenal?

Bowler will go down as one of Forests’ many recruitment mistakes. Didn’t they part company with their recruitment team?
There’s a deal to be done if he wants to stay and we can actually get a deal over the line now BB has gone.

He's got a few years left of 20 grand a week contract, can't see him walking away from that to come here and earn a quarter of that.

Don’t think Bowler is anywhere near first team football at Forest whatever league they are playing in next season.
My guess is he’ll go out on a season long loan to a championship club.

To get the best out of Bowler he needs to be released from his defensive duties. Something whicn McCarthy doesn't or won't allow and something he's publicly stated he wants from him, I find it hard to believe that some on here fail to grasp that point when realising why he's "this so called shadow" of his former self. Play to his strengths not his weaknesses. And that will apply to any club he's at.
Went to the Norwich game and I got the old buzz when he got the ball in space. Looked to be getting some form back so well done to Dobbie

Perhaps they will come up with a compromise payment to him to allow him to play somewhere else & save themselves a bit of money. Doubt we’ll see him in tangerine again.
