Sour For Sadler

x3

I tend to agree with a lot of what you say of late - you may wish to go for a check up - but I'm not having that utter horsech1te.

In our first season back in the Championship, regardless of what anybody thinks about Critchley, I think it's fair to say that there was a good bond between the supporters - especially in the North - and Critchley and the players.

People outside of the club spoke about the great atmosphere at Bloomers when they didn't have to do so, I remember Mark Warburton (QPR manager at the time) was particularly strong with his praise and there were definitely others.

I'm sure the players enjoyed playing at a packed stadium far more than in front of the Covid - empty or limited - crowds and I think it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

I do agree with you - apologies if have assumed incorrectly - in that there is a big negativity in the support base around our start to the new season and that such negativity does not help the players.

I'm sure some will suggest that this negativity is only natural because of the disappointing results but personally - I'm aware plenty won't agree with me ans that they are entitled to their opinion - I think this negativity is way, way over the top.

I know that Critch and his players need to do all they can to improve performances/results and that the supporters will be far more positive if/when they do improve but I think the current OTT negativity hinders the progress of the team and that football teams really have a greater need for support when they are struggling.
I tend to agree with you that we had been OK in the Championship, but despite a damn good season (up to that point) our fans decided to walk out en-masse vs Notts Forest at home…and the boo boys did their usual… A complete disgrace tbh and I really think that was where the rot set in.

It must have been a massive kick in the teeth for the Players and Critchley. And at that point they realised that we didn’t actually have their backs when it mattered.

BFC x 3 Mary,

It's dangerous all this agreeing but I'm not sure I can argue too much with that, especially when I left at half time against Forest !!!!!!!!

Don’t get me wrong, on the odd occasions our fans can be encouraging, but it’s mainly when the more old school fans return for special occasions.

For the most part we’ve become a bit Lilly-Livered and snowflakey… More like a crowd at a Pantomime really… We have our little happy clappy singalong and then it all falls apart.

I think you may be right about there being some scarring after the Oyston’s, but I think it’s more to do with the expectation that arrived with the Premier League lot… Everything changed when we got promoted to the EPL… We’ve completely lost that genuine passion and never say die attitude as supporters…. Here we are 5 games in to the Season and 50% of the fanbase has pretty much given up.

I saw it in Maxwell’s eyes and expression when the North Stand was having a pop at him last season…. A great Keeper who’s confidence was totally sapped, by a fanbase who were more interested in proving their point, than they were about getting behind the 11 men on the pitch.

It’s completely toxic… we’re fucked until it changes
You’ve got a serious problem with younger Blackpool fans, haven’t you? You’re a bad narcissist who needs to realise, fans like yourself will croak it soon and without young Blackpool fans getting through the gates the fan base will become none-existent when the older fans can’t attend anymore.

Don’t be daft… I don’t have a problem with younger Blackpool Fans at all. I just think that we have a lot of fans of all ages (most of whom suddenly tipped up in 2010) who seem to want to spend their life slagging everything about the club (from owner, to manager, to players) off.

They don’t like the prices of tickets, they don’t like changing from plastic to digital, they don’t like the concourse or the bars, they hate the stewards and the ground safety people, they don’t like the rules and don’t like their seats, they don’t like the owner or his plan to keep costs down, they want to pick the team for the manager, they boo the players and sing songs about other keepers so that the keeper we have in nets feels undermined…..

You need to realise that you will croak it… pretty soon after me, if not before (judging by your stress levels) and the real younger fans (the ones who just enjoy the game for what it is and don’t feel the need to slag the Club from top to bottom every time we lose a game) will hopefully see the kind of success that their positive attitude deserves👍

When I was a Lad (back in the olden days - when the world was Black & White) … Most of us didn’t even know or even care who owned the football club… If we lost the game, we were pissed off and talked about the shit ref (The bastard in the Black), maybe the player performances and the game itself…. The thought of calling for a Manager’s head rarely crossed your mind, unless things were absolutely dire… We just brushed it off and moved on….

Nowadays it seems the norm for a complete meltdown and to blame everyone from the Ticket Staff to the Owner for the lack of success…

Last year Appleton was targeted, Ben Mansford was targeted and Maxwell was singled out… This year we’ve already (after a handful of games) picked our on-field victim in Ekpiteta (a former player of the season) … The Manager is already treading a tightrope and the Owner can’t do right for wrong.

Yet…. It’s me who’s a narcissist?

😂

I agree with BFC x 3 (mostly) and I’m going to hazard a guess that I’m half the age of some of those he’s arguing with.

There’s a lot of whinging, zero patience and a complete disconnect with reality from a lot of our fans.

There was no need to change from plastic to digital, other than to try and snarl a few more quid out of the fan base for Sadlers back burner. I’ve never heard anyone complain about the concourse? Although the ale served in years gone by was disgusting, Cruzcampo has made it much better.

When you were a lad in the olden days did you single out fans like you do now? Tell everyone they’re doing everything wrong because YOU don’t agree with things? Tell everyone to stop chanting a certain song because YOU don’t like it? Or did you narcissism develop in later adulthood?

If fans can’t see the blatant similarities because Oyston & Sadler transfer windows then we, as a population, are fucked.

Constantly having to rebuild year on year due to loans. Free transfers and the OCCASIONAL “undisclosed fee.”

A move to digital tickets likely helps the club with its CSR reporting and shows efforts to embrace technology and move towards more sustainable practices. Small things add up.

All progressive clubs are transferring to digital, because it offers big advantages for the club to gain more insight and to help them to improve the service and increase revenue.

I want the Club to make as much revenue as they possibly can and I’m happy to spend what I can afford to help that to happen… That’s what being a supporter is all about to me.

Loads of people complain about the concourse… Too small, not enough bars, pies too expensive, toilets too smoky, too many people racking up etc…

I haven’t singled out anyone… I’ve referred to fans in very general terms. I’m simply pointing out that none of us are perfect and maybe we should take a look at ourselves, before we start slagging other people off…. An owner who has pumped tens of millions into the club already and pretty much rebuilt it after years of neglect and decay, for example…

I also have t told anyone to stop chanting anything. I’ve said that I think certain chants are crap and should be consigned to the bin (that’s an opinion, not a command)… I’m not in the business of forcing my opinion or wishes on anyone … If our fans want to sing childish songs, that’s up to them (always has been)… I just don’t bother joining in (I presume it’s not compulsory and I’m allowed to do as I choose?).

How about trying to just be happy and grateful for once… Simply taking pleasure in the fact that you’re alive, you liva great country, you are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy things in life like watching your local football team and socialising with mates…How about trying to just enjoy life for what it is…. To just let things be…and just to be yourself? Live in the moment … stop concerning yourself with what’s past and what’s to come… the insignificance of silly football results or whether or not a silly song is being sung?

Life really doesn’t need to be so serious 👍

Add on to that some things are toe curling embarrassing that meeting with players to stop fans going to training ground case in point.

Croak it soon !!!!!!!!!

Jesus BFCX3 is my age !!!!!!

I need to get my bucket list done asap.

Come on mate, how would you know? You hardly ever went back then.

My memory is that you were the same as me and Phil and a few others, we wanted him to do well and thought he had a chance if backed properly but we also knew that it was a foolish appointment, not because of his lack of ability but because the majority of the supporters hated him before he even walked through the door and we knew it was a mistake to appoint him on that basis, especially when he just wasn't supported to get the players he needed to play his system.
Think that sums up my feelings on him too. Benefit of the doubt until Wigan in October.
