South Shore CC Legend Ivan Cartmell

Spent many a Summer with Ivan in my cricketing days - a true local cricketing legend.

That said, even Alan Turing couldn't decipher Ivan's scorebooks!;)

RIP Ivan....

Didn’t know him as such, but when my old man played for TCCC back in the 70’s/80’s, Ivan was a person that always stuck in a young boys brain and I immediately knew who you were talking about.

RIP.

Ivan was just a young lad when I played for SSCC in the late 70's & early 80's. I always looked forward to chatting to him on my return each season and he gave everyone a friendly welcome. RIP Ivan - SSCC won't be the same without him. Condolences to his family.

RIP Ivan. South Shore Cricket Club will never have a bigger character than him again.

He also played snooker. Not the best player in the world but he knew that so hit his shots hard and if it didn't go in the pocket he was aiming at, it often stood a good chance of a fluke elsewhere!

I played at South Shore at the same time periid. Ivan did the scorebook for the third team, lovely bloke without a bad bone in his body

RIP Ivan.

Think I knew who he was. Was he slightly disabled? If so, he lived in the same cul de sac as me in South Shore in the 70's. RIP.

I didn’t know Ivan well but well enough to say hi to and have a few chats with over the years ( I’ve not lived in Pool for over 20 years so haven’t seen him for ages ) and yes he was slightly disabled and I believe he was told as a child he wouldn’t live much passed his early 20’s , I feel certain the life he had around SSCC and the friends he met there was a major factor in living so long - RIP Ivan - true legend 👏🏻
