South station

Get a grip fella, I don’t care how old he is, maybe he should not have left the ground early and escaped being penned in, either way as I say shit happens, oh and stop casting aspersions not a good trait👍🏻
I‘m 71 and was walking back (after the weird to say the least detour ,which was a waste of time,as it clearly didn’t work ) and nearing Dunelt road opposite the Lidl when a Preston fan in a small group suddenly pushed the guy next to me for no good reason and threw a punch resulting in me being shoved straight into a parked van.
I guess I was guilty of deserving it under your assumptions as I happened to be there.
Said Preston fan ( people who seek trouble as far as I am concerned are not fans) was then dealt( not by me I might add) some retribution, which he deserved for being an arsehole, but I was not staying around to join in.

Oh and being 71 believe me I grew up when football violence was even worse than it is today and no I don’t miss it and made damn sure I kept well away from it then and now if I can. Sadly I was at the infamous Bolton game which should have become a lesson to avoid violence but regrettably didn’t.

Would love to know how many officers were on duty yesterday. Not sure the Police Helicopter made an appearance last year did it?

Also, surely the Helicopter would have spotted the situation at Blackpool South?

Why would you be anywhere near the Preston fans did you not see the police drawing

Have a look at the location Phil…try Google maps…oh and I posted yesterday about this and commented on the fact that this is getting near to the area around the Bloomfield Pub and where many fans, including away, often park, and yet not a single police presence.
I’d followed the police instructions as everyone else did to eventually arrived back on Bloomfield Road.
For whatever reason there was a small group of I’d guess 6 to 8 at most lingering there.

So by wearing a hoodie, in October, you’re trying to not be recognised? Would you prefer everyone to walk round bollocko?
Jeez….these type wear a hoodie whatever the season…by the way way is bollocko….something your are sprouting.

There were enough police there to take on a major drug cartel, why they and the club didn’t agree to keep away fans in for 15 minutes beggars belief.

You can argue that it’s not their fault that there are mindless thugs who think it’s ok to go to a football match with the intention of violence, but intelligent planning would have prevented some trouble and meant less police presence.

I saw one group on Nobbers walk through South Shore car park on the way to BR; they were quiet mostly, then at some point they said something to one of our fans who started shoving one and offering him out. They quickly put their heads down and walked away as quickly as possible.

It doesn't take a lot to spark a confrontation and given the 'stand your ground' mentality the British have, it always has the chance of escalating very quickly.

I can categorically state the Nobbers started the South Station issues, as I've put further up in the thread.

It's a shame an old fella got punched in the melee but he should be asking why his fellow Nobbers thought it would be a good idea to kick off.

I have said every time on this subject and even said to the police pre match when I was asking to confirm the route we were supposed to take post match why aren’t they keeping the PNE fans back as has happened to us.
Obviously the ordinary “ Copper” is just following instructions.

So these “mindless thugs” you speak of actually helped you and the person who was shoved yesterday, didn’t they?

The guy was pushed for no reason then a punch was thrown by him.Clearly one of those with the guy ,a mate no doubt, who was punched reacted….not the same as being a mindless thug…..you decide but then I think I already know the answer from your previous comments.

By the way nobody actually helped me…if you read what I said I got shoved sideways by the initial incident.

I followed the detour and still walked into Preston fans trying to get to my car.

So you’re saying violence is fine when provoked. Was you at South Station and did you witness any of the trouble? How do you know that it wasn’t provoked?

There is no defending an assault on a 65 year-old, irrespective of club allegiance. In fact, there is no defending any assault on an innocent bystander.

If groups of fans want to fight then fine, but back in the day, it was always the way that ‘meetings’ were made and innocent fans were not targeted.

I’m not defending it. I’m just simply questioning the substance behind Bleach’s, seemingly absurd, accusations.

I was parked on Dunelt road, and as I was walking down Bloomfield noticed a largish group looking up dunelt, as I turned the corner saw the 8 lads walking up the road, and then realised they were nobbers and had been some sort of altercation. I crossed over and sauntered as far back from them as I could until could get to my car as by this point there was only me on the road with them 😳

Eh? I'm a Blackpool fan y'div. I just live the wrong end of the M55 now. Born in Bispham, played footy for BJFF and Blackpool Rangers as a kid and Mamma's and The Rammy Arms. Play walking footy (cause I'm an old got) for AFC Fylde. I love my footy
WF…over 50s?

Where were the police ?

Did they not think that the train station 10 mins from the ground might be a flashpoint ?
There was about 30 Preston on south station last season drinking after the match. They looked a bit intimidating but didn’t cause any bother. My recollection was that there were no coppers anywhere. The policing strategy is very focused on the ground. There should be away parking etc at the ground. Keep them in. It’s best for everyone.

Well after reading these comments we wonder why the nobbers were given a reduced allocation. Can you imagine the fun and games there would av been if they'd been allocated almost 5,000

No police at the train station 🤔 now does that have anything to do with the fact they cannot charge the club for any officers working outside the footprint of the stadium 🤔🤔

There was a police car parked on the pavement diagonally opposite the Waterloo both before and after the game.

I suppose they were wary of it kicking off around that junction, but as I walked past well before kick off i thought that the odds were far heavier on an issue arising at the station

Just couple of comments, I'm very surprised there was no Police presence at South Station, loads of it at Preston and nobbers awaiting the South Station train, very few on the train i was on to North. North station and the area was crawling with Police.

I hope the Preston fan was not too seriously hurt, those cowards should not have done that to him. I had a similar incident some weeks ago with two aggressive 'brave' Burnley youngsters threatening a 74 year old, but using the element of surprise plus my knowledge of self defence one went down the other didn't want to know.

Cheers for your concern lads and lasses. He's alright, just bruised with a cut on his head. He's was a bit shaken but in typical British style he brushed himself down and went for a few pints.

The hatred and has and always will be that strong between both our fans.

It gets even worse these days with everything that is written on social media.

You will NEVER stop trouble at Blackpool vs Nob End outside of the ground unless you bus fans in and out. Simple as that.

Yes I agree 100%, much as I dislike the idea of not being able to go to an away game and have some lunch and a beer pre match, the reality is if a few thousand fans are doing it you will always get clashes with the home fans before or after the game If you dont bus them in and out of the stadium.

I’ve probably mellowed a bit compared to what I was like in my younger days, but the youth of today seem to hate each just as much as we did back in the day, for Preston away a trip on the train and all the fun and games on the long journey to the ground was every much a part of the day as the game was😉

All things considered, it sounds like the day has been pulled off with very few ‘serious’ incidents, which is great to hear.

A bit of handbags at the station and reports of a couple of innocent people suffering minor injuries is not great, but on the whole I don’t think it’s too bad.

It sounds like the minor diversions ensured that the issues experienced last time around were avoided and most people got to and from the game with very little inconvenience.

As others have said it’s almost impossible to stop determined groups from clashing. They’re actively trying to avoid the Police … And I don’t think any of us really want to go down the route of being bussed in and out!!!👎

Preston are going to whine and complain about this and that… they bitched for weeks after the last time we beat them…. It’s tough to take, when you get spanked 4-2 by your superior rivals 😉

Bang on
Handbags and a few minor incidents blown out of proportion.
