Steve Thompson

whatever Critch thinks is good by me, never been one for going backwards with staff as it rarely works out but Thomo was a great servant so if Critch thought it a good idea I would welcome him back. Cant see it though

Interesting take but as a life long nobber I see things differentmy. In that time with ST part of coaching set up we took on players like Hugill (25k from Port Vale, sold for £10m), Davies gone from youth to very good player & PL move, Robinson, Pearson going from young potential to genuine top Championship/PL players.

Our success hasn't been great on paper but 'relatively' it has based on our lack of financial investment compared to others etc.

I'm a realist & just getting back up to championship was tough never mind developing a competent championship squad.

In my view he's clearly a good coach & done some top stuff for us. I genuinely wish him all the best if ends up with you or any club for that matter.

Up the whites!
Fair post, no BIG BOO
And of course WE STUCK IT up the shites!

After living in a Mansion, would you want to go back to a “two up, two down”?😉

PS I really rate Thomo. He must be worth a look at.

He did a great job here too. I think if there's a doubt it's that Critch is a great coach, with methods developed at Crewe and Liverpool, and that what he needs is something different here. Calderwood and McCall have both been a no.1 at a high level, and must have helped Critch a fair bit. Thommo has the experience obviously. I'm not sure. Thanks for the constructive comments.

I went to Collegiate.😞
Or is this the wrong thread. 😁

Get him back its a coach not an ex manager FFS whatever happens will always be on Critch not any of his backroom staff.

But it’s up to NC not any of us Blackpool schooled idiots. 🤣

Yes on the wrong thread.
We may as well bring Phil Horner back for an old boys reunion.

From what i can see Critch is the ultimate professional. He decides his coaching staff.

The fact that a candidate went to the same school as the owner is unlikely to feature in his decision making.

Played at Warbreck in the police cup, was indoors. We were in the final against St Georges I think and all the police who were waiting to hand out the trophy disappeared. It was the day the 3 police officers lost their life at Gyn Square, we were the mighty All Saints!

Yea I was 1 year St Toms then 4 years All Saints after we amalgamated with St Catherine’s.

Top lad and his love for BFC never left him, football is his profession so you go where the wages are, Koko showed him the door along with Ince so Preston was a good fit for him alongside Grayson.

Once Simon Rigby passed away it was inevitable Thommo would be leaving as he has also had issues at home with a family illness, SR rewarded his loyalty for not going to Sunderland with Larry by giving him a job as long as he wanted one.
Simon Rigby?

Not sure where Simon Rigby fits in.

“tainted his reputation” what a load of utter bollocks! Grow up!
‘Sent the message too soon so you’ve not got the full explanation , anyway “grow up”seems a strange thing to say when it comes from a supporter of a hated rival football club whose fans seem more interest in us than they’re own team- you being a perfect example
anyway under no circumstances would I like ST back because he is “ tainted” by spending time around a shitfest of a club, but the main reason is that he’s gone shit obviously judging by the “progress” he‘s made at the scum
Also I like nobbers posting on here ,the banter can be interesting but you seem to be very boring

I assume you applied the same rules to Brett Ormerod?

PS if you sent the message too soon, I presume you’re not familiar with the edit facility?

He would have to get on with Critch with the turnover of assistants he has had ?. I personally would be happy to see Steve or even Keith Southern back but it's who Critch want to work with he may want others .

Take the piss

Couldn’t care less about the edit facility so that’s another boring sentence from you
Brett was different I think he just went to you lot as a way to get a wage for hardly playing ,just to take the piss

Why are you always having a go at nobbers, after all you just might be having a go at your father.

I may have missed this, but has it been said why he has left? That might be relevant to whether or not he is looking for another job at the moment

We’ve no idea if there is even any interest, but if there was I’d be happy to welcome him back. Top bloke and I was at a game being managed by John Murphy vs Man United at Altringham (Lancashire cup game maybe??). Murphy was new to coaching and Thommo was there; only a few fans in so you could hear exactly what he was saying and while the Man Utd coach yelled “put him under” and the like (it was an ex nobber, Jepson maybe?? Can’t quite remember), Thommo was explaining field position out of possession and actual tactics to Murphy. It was impressive.

There are some right stiffs on here. "Mr Critchley will make his own choices. People should never go back to a former club". FFS lighten up. Do you think we don't know that? Anyone that knows Thommo would want him back in a heartbeat. Some posters spend too much time playing Football Manager games.
Well I am afraid I have to disagree completely with “Anyone that knows Thommo would want him back in a heartbeat “, we all have our own experiences and opinions and of course you are entitled to yours .

Simon Sadler is a Warbeck boy, for those ex Warbeck of a certain age, "smiler" Marsden assures me Simon was a great lad ( if Mr Marsden compliments someone, they must be decent 😂)
Was in Marsdens class at Claremont, then we moved to Warbreck in 1969/70, after Grange Park which I hated Claremont and Warbreck were brilliant.
Especially having Ted Greenwood as my last teacher at Warbreck.

As for Thommo get him back at Bloomfield Rd.

I wouldn't want him back. He stood out when he was with us because he was competent and nobody else around him was. But we have higher standards now.

FJ, asking for genuine reasons as I don't know him either. What's your definition of old school and how does Thommo fit into it?

I’d have him back for sure. However it has to be said the one thing he didn’t seem to learn from his time with us was how to win play offs🤣

I reckon he'd be ideal for Critch- been around the divisions, has had a good reputation with players and has all the experience that the job needs.

You could argue that Critch needs a father figure type asst., but we have managed to keep hold of that type too well.

A yes from me.
