Not so much "lost" as "dumped" by the new Radio 2 management, according to fellow elderly DJs, in a bid to rejuvenate the station's roster. He was side-lined from his weekday afternoon show 18 months ago and did not take it well, apparently. One of his colleagues described them all as being treated recently like "tins of baked beans on a shelf". Oh well, I guess everyone has to retire eventually, but to go on your own terms is the best for mental health.
