Still waiting FA!!!

Or have I missed something? Assuming not and they still haven’t made a ruling on our second round tie against FGR this is an absolute shambles and reeks of incompetence. Come on FA make a decision and let us know what’s going on.😠

Too busy pandering to TV - just announced:

Tuesday 12 December 2023

Barnet v Newport County at 19:45 on ITV4 and ITVX

Wednesday 13 December 2023

Stockport County v Aldershot Town at 19:45 on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport

All four of these sides will receive a £30,000 live broadcast fee for these games.

FGR fans (well one seemingly itk) seem to think it'll be a replay. That'll make scheduling fun.

What if FGR appeal any decision that goes against them? That could set the final decision back another couple of weeks given the FA do FA

Just thinking but didn't Troy Deeney pick up his fifth yellow card in the tram me again on the Saturday before their replay in which case he should have been suspended for the replay, not their game against Grimsby the following Saturday

Been there and done that. Yellow cards don't carry over from League to Cup and vica versa. eg King Kenny.

The supposed itk FGR fan.

Announcement was due to the club's at midday

I anticipated we'd have news by 13.00, but assuming some logistics to sort out which are delaying it.

Confident we'll know our fate before this evening

Listen Whatever Vince Dale and the Vegans Mysterons Klingons have been up to. just hope that the right team pays us. Scarborough. Fish and Chip derby.

This whole thing is becoming an absolute farce. The question is are the FA fit to be in charge of professional football, when they prove, beyond doubt, that they have absolutely no idea how to run the thing.

I wouldn't trust them to run a kids party, they'd no doubt wait until every one arrived and then say sorry it's off we ordered the food for the wrong day. We'll let you all know when we have another one, 'Now where did I put the address of the caterer'.

What’s so hard to work out? They either played an ineligible player or they didn’t
I can only think they're having problems deciphering the word 'ineligible', and have therefore reached a bit of an impasse, with some members of the board interpreting the word correctly, whilst other members are incorrectly insisting on reading it, quite falsely, as addressing a player of extraordinary (i.e. 'incredible') talent, thereby throwing the decision-making process into complete and utter chaos.

I mean, I realise the two words - 'ineligible', and 'incredible', look fairly similar - but, still, given their entirely different meanings, would you honestly Adam & Eve it!?

Could the registration been lost in the ether.
Ie its in FGR sent box but not in FA in box

Presumably, the question of eligibility is not straightforward, FGR must have thought he was eligible, they presumably had grounds for this, quite what the problem is we don't know.

It is disgraceful that
a) The club were notified on the eve of the game
b) We are all still in the dark over this

Typical FA incompetence but I bet a decision would have been arrived sooner if we were a Premier league club!!

That reminds me of the time we had to apply for re-elction after fielding a youth player (Brian Butler?) who we thought we'd just registered in time but the FL hadn't received the paperwork. We got docked points. Then they found the paperwork under the bed of an admin assistant who had been stealing the mail or something similar. Please correct me if I've got that wrong. It would have been simpler to take it in person as the FL was in St Annes then.

I've heard that the handwriting of the guy who filled in the Forest Green team sheet was very poor and there were a number of illegible players.

That was correct - points deduction meant that we had to apply for re-election for the only time in our history.

The delay resolving this matter is going to have a domino effect on quite a few other clubs as well as us, FGR and possibly Scarborough. Nottingham Forest and Orient being two of them, and whoever FGR and Scarborough are due to play in the next few weeks and on Jan 6th.
The FA couldn't organise a Gluhwein in a Christmas market.

Jesus. FGR make a balls of the paperwork , the FA fail to react in a timely way and you want to dig out Steve R. for.... what exactly?
WTF - wind your neck in, I only said it would be useful to have an slo that still communicated on here as it might stop the conjecture. 🙄

Dear me. SLO can only state 'We are awaiting a decision from the FA'.

And then you would probably moan about that.

I'd guess the FA have now ruled against FGR and they've appealed it.
Maybe FA HQ has been filled with 'it's not orange smoke' and someone has glued themselves to the computer room door after pulling out the plugs?

As it’s likely we won’t be getting an answer until at least tomorrow I think we can write off the game being played next Tuesday. So through no fault of our own we will have to play on the 19th, right before the busy Christmas & New period.

Quickly becoming an absolute shambles.
