Stone Roses on Sky Arts

"Who's from Blackpool anybody?" A very small cheer went up . I was there, remember seeing only a smattering of locals. Went to Bury away that day in the Manx Cup and knew it was gonna be messy when the Motorway on the way back was full of Mancs everywhere.

Slave, I'm glad someone else has said that. I'm watching this with interest, the first time I've watched it in full.

I know there's a lot of Roses fans on here, and I don't wish to offend. I've always enjoyed their music, shame they didn't do more, and without question they had three top rank musicians of that and many other eras.

But if I've ever heard a greater difference, at least from a band I respect, between the quality of the voice in the studio to live, then I can't remember it.

And did he own more than one shirt?

It was that shirt which was photo’d that day ( before n after) by one of our own from Blackpool. And went on to be all that.

No offence taken. He can't sing. In defence the gig was filmed on two basic amateur set up cameras released on video a few years after, then on remastered DVD years later and the quality is still ropey. No technology will ever recapture being there a legendary gig of that era and very rare for the venue in those days. I'm glad I was there. £6 well spent 🤣

Was in Edinburgh that day to see simple minds at Meadowbank
Got tickets for hearts v celtic earlier in the day.... Top day out

To be fair, most attendees were probably tripping the light fantastic at the time. It was how it was.

Seen a few other supposedly good'uns have off nights as well....

New Order Blackpool
Morrissey

Best Live in Blackpool vocally were probably Beautiful South 95'ish

Oh yes fully agree mate, it was obviously a very special night. I've read a lot about it, seen short clips but this is my first full time with it.

Enjoying it a lot.

Great band. Great gig. Great DVD. Amazing venue.

The White Stripes gig/DVD at The Empress was better though.

In my opinion obvs.

I went to that New Order gig. Agree they were awful that night

That gig was in the last three or four New Order gigs with the original four members, they'd fallen out with Peter Hook big time and were really just honouring a contracted tour by that point. Had a shocker myself that night, absolutely steaming !!

I was actually there in 89, the video is shocking quality and doesn't convey any of the gloriousness of the occasion.

I didn't go to Barnet though.

Which New Order gig? They’ve played here 3 times that I know of. This was from the night they were first on supporting tunnel vision and sxxv
