Stronger or Weaker...?

The aim of any transfer window is to strengthen the squad, for me at this point the loss of Viking and Demi leaves us weaker but if Stewart stays fit, Kirk / Robson and Thornily can step up quickly , injured players recover...we should be fine. Too many “ifs” for my liking.
However, moving on those not up to first team duties has helped the financial situation which is good business.

I am not too concerned at this moment in time, we wont go down and still have a chance of the play offs. NC and the backroom staff will be already looking at the summer.

I'm with Kurt status quo, we've kept our best assets and got Virtue and Stewart and now Robson to fill in the CM role Sonny can play that too when he's back in March 💪🧡

long term we are now stronger as we'll have freed up a fair bit in wages by getting rid of players hopefully releasing a bit more which can be used to attract players in the close season.

Obviously saving the cash for the summer transfers, maakes sense to me with our current situation. No point in wasting money just trying to get promotion first time around.

If we had brought in a CM in last night I’d have said it’s been a brilliant window.

Think we chased Brannigan for far too long.

Still overall I’am not too disappointed at the end result as keeping hold of Bowler was paramount.

Stronger
TJJ will never make it at a high level so we got Beesley who may prove to be good
Mitchell OK but believe Kirk is a step up
Thorniley and Grettarson possibly on a par
Wintle is a loss but cover that till summer and still think Virtue will come good

It might have been a good idea to bring a midfield player in on loan we have Anderson,Carey,Virtue & Ward
to come back from injury I wouldn t have paid silly money for Brannigan or Norwood

I certainly wouldn't say we were any weaker, due to the fact we have held onto our best players and only shipped out those who would never make the first team anyhow. The wages saved could go towards improving Bowlers contract with a pay increase included.

As for the CM strengthening, I think we will be fine with the return of Stewart and Robson, and with Virtue and Carey hopefully not too far off returning.

Therefore, I believe we are actually stronger for the run in, if we can keep players fit and injury free.

For me the squad is now in a stronger position. As much as I quite liked the Viking and Demi, they barely featured all season so realistically we haven't become any weaker by losing them. If Thorniley is DG's replacement then he's already come in and played a decent game and if Kirk is DM's then I guess that remains to be seen but he can hardly offer less than DM has this season. Getting rid of Sarkic/Nuttall/Howe/Lubala(loan) means if nothing else we're saving wages which we've otherwise been wasting for the last 2 years and that can hopefully be spent in the summer. Losing Wintle obviously makes the starting 11 slightly weaker but for me Connolly has proven to be an adequate if unspectacular replacement (and Wintle himself was very steady without being spectacular) and Robson and, hopefully, Stewart/Virtue can contribute in the remainder of the season

edit: forgot to mention Beesley who is hopefully one for the future, a different option to Madine who we're unsure if he can play a full season, and surely can't contribute any less that TJJ

About the same, but happy to be presently surprised.
Looks like we will be stuck with two holding, defensive midfielders until towards the end of the season. Without Keshi have we got enough to link the defence to the attack effectively?

About the same. Viking isn't a loss as he never played (wonder why?). Mitchell wasn't good enough.

Players coming in have potential, but then so did Bez, Viking, Mitchell etc.

I think it's a shame we couldn't have signed the last day targets because having the rest of the season bedding them in would have been huge come pre-season and moving forward.
