Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

Last thing we need is yet another player coming in and out of the side constantly injured. Failed Medicals should always mean failed deals in my book…one of the biggest problems under previous ownership not happening on Sadlers watch even when the heat is on with little transfer action and supporters getting jittery.

We need to hold our nerve and keep our patience and things will work out.

Seems pretty 2 footed?
His left foots not just there for standing on but he'd rather use his right foot whenever practical. He's scored with his left foot but I can't remember him playing a more than maybe 20 yard pass with it probably a good way to describe it

I’ve seen some bollocks this Summer but we have a new winner. And better yet seems every BFC fan on Twitter has gone for it, hook line & sinker.

Between this and the Appleton PNE tattoo - how can a fanbase with single figure IQ have you all on strings? FFS.
Muckers blocked me ages ago 😂 so glad

Reads like a fake with all the expected horror lines, eg O/G’s and Prestonisms liberally interspersed, cha. It demands a confirmation now, either way.

Wasn’t even a position we needed. And it looks like we are about to send Tharme out on loan, who hasn’t put a foot wrong in pre season.
Should have used the loan to get someone like Rogers, in a position we need strengthening. Our recruitment team so far have a lot to answer for.

The fact is we struggle to score goals and if we don’t solve that problem, we will be in a relegation battle probably all season.

Way too many people stamping their feet like little brats. Neither Rhys nor the club should be expected to respond to every bloody idiot on social media. I went to primary/high schools with his Dad, Scott, he's a good lad and was always a North End fan. These days, especially at clubs like Liverpool, young players are warned/guided about the danger of such stories and the harm it can do to their careers. At the end of the day he's a professional and one with Prem, Champs League and Championship experience. How anyone can think it's real or any more than just banter is beyond me. He'd literally be banned for life and be tossing his whole career away if he actually wrote that and then did it. I'll judge the lad in a tangerine shirt, if he gives it his all, then he'll get my support.

Latest from Scrafton. Still no reason behind the Bishop U turn.

The Seasiders were expected to add to their ranks with the signing of Accrington Stanley forward man Colby Bishop this week.
But despite a fee and personal terms being agreed for the 25-year-old, Pool opted not to pursue the move.

Nevertheless, the fact Appleton is looking to bolster his options in attack has raised question marks over the current four strikers on their books - Jake Beesley, Shayne Lavery, Gary Madine and Jerry Yates.
When asked if he expects one of his current number nines to depart before the window closes, Appleton told The Gazette: “I can’t guarantee that because the reality is you need a club willing to take your players.
“But, the likelihood is that if that did happen (a new striker coming in), I’m sure I’m not going to be able to keep four or five players in the same position happy.
“People move on and that’s football, that’s the business. If that’s the case then that player or those players will hear it from me first.”

Despite deciding against signing Bishop, the Seasiders remain in the hunt for a number of targets as they look to add quality to their ranks ahead of the season opener against Reading.
Rhys Williams became the second player to arrive through the door on Tuesday, agreeing a season-long loan move from Liverpool.
But Appleton is keen for further reinforcements, although he can’t guarantee when they will arrive.

“We’ve got three or four that we’re trying very hard to get at the minute,” Pool’s head coach added.
“We’re in good discussions, but you can’t guarantee a timeline on these things so you can’t say one is going to get done tomorrow or a couple will get done by the weekend.
“All I can say is that everyone behind the scenes is working their socks off to make sure we have as strong a squad as possible for that first game against Reading.”
Elsewhere, right-back target Andy Lyons featured for Shamrock Rovers during their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday night.

Shamrock’s back-up full-back Barry Cotter has since been allowed to leave the club on loan.

Here is a lineup of what my mate made as how we should lineup this season. He said we could loan Beesley out to a league 1 club to make the strikers have space in the squad. Thoughts?

My thoughts are that there’s 2 players there who don’t play for us, but assuming they do sign (and not just rumours) the midfield looks really lightweight. I’d also find space for Tharme who sounds like he’ll be a find.

If what McGinlay is reporting in Lancs Live is true than 350k for Lyons should be enough, still think that is a steal seeing most of their fans think he should be going for 500k minimum.

Ignoring loan players for a second, have we ever gone in to a season with no-one added to the first team and no-one sold from it? I can't recall that ever happening before.

Maybe Pompey came back with a better offer. But maybe Appleton has changed his mind about what he requires.
Critch played two upfront Madine/Beesley and either Yates/Lavery, I think Appleton having watched the front players perform has now realized that the current players are not good enough to play his system, and it will require 3 or 4 players upgrading in this area rather than just adding
one player. I expect a big shake-up with the attacking players over the next week.

Should point out that when Rover fans talk fees its in euros. So 500k euro is about 425k pounds. Just for reference. Don't think 350k pounds gets the deal done to be honest.

Very odd, obviously not the medical otherwise Pompey wouldn’t have signed him, so why?
Medicals aren't really pass fail jobs. They're risk assessments. They're also highly subjective, so it's likely whoever does Blackpools medicals saw something they don't like, and Pompys one thinks it's no big deal.
Or as someone said above, Pompy were willing to gamble more.

But we know that isn't true. All that's been reported is that we decided not to sign him. The reason hasn't been disclosed, but it doesn't have to be.
Maybe.....

He signed for Portsmouth very quickly straight after though. If it was us we'd renegotiate the terms and fee.

If you
He'd already agreed everything, so only had to have a medical. All sides still satisfied, deal done.
If you were P'mouth you'd be a bit peed off that he rejected you and then crawled back.

Dunno.....

And actually who cares as long as we've been seen to do the correct things?

Ah you're right silly me.

Lancs Live reporting that 350k would get the job done, do you think that's incorrect on the basis of them valuing him more?

To be honest they were saying 200k pounds looked like it would get the job done just a couple of days ago. Just based of previous sales, and the club being in the best financial position it has probably ever been in I just don't see 350k pounds being enough. Now there could be add ons that make that initial amount enough but on its own I don't think it gets the deal done

That's true, hopefully we'll be able to come to an agreement soon, because he sounds class and is in a position that we need.

Sheffield Wednesday just signed Bakinson from Bristol City...

I don't want to speculate, but that surely means they see losing FDB as a realistic possibility?

The Irish Mirror have reported the 350k valuation so have referenced their report for that. Can’t say I’ve heard a specific ‘that’ll do it valuation’ more there’s just general confidence an agreement can be reached.

Sounds too expensive for a backup/academy player for me, outside the PL anyway, time to look elsewhere.

BREAKING NEWS: Blackpool, are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on the movements of ex Burnley stalwart winger Eric Thimble, now that his 30 year contract has expired. His agent states he’s available for a modest fee. (ie) Half a pint of Guinness and a packet of pork scratchings. Portsmouth, are also rumoured to be interested.
