Grimshaw - 5
Casey - 5
Keogh - 6
Gretarsson - 6
Garbutt - 6
Antwi - 5
James - 5
Hamilton - 5 (Not particularly his fault, he was in acres of space all game but passes for him to get behind or to let him run at their defence were piss poor all night)
Carey - 5
John-Jules - 5
Lavery - 6

Bowler - 9
Anderson - 7
Yates - 8

Grimshaw - 6 still not seen him make a save
Casey - 5 not a right back
Keogh - 6 did some things well, other things not so well
Gretarsson - 6 good to have him back
Garbutt - 6 did ok
Antwi (Off 70’) - 6 looked assured
James - 5 looks out of his depth
Hamilton (Off 78’)- 6 not back to his pre-injury form
Carey - 8 star man. Could be the missing link in midfield
John-Jules - 6 some nice touches
Lavery (Off 79’) - 7 lively

Bowler (On 70’) - 7 did well from the bench
Anderson (On 78’) - 6 not much impact
Yates (On 79’) - 7 great cameo

Grimshaw - 5 Conceded 3
Casey - 5 Not a right back so not his fault
Keogh - 5 ...
Gretarsson - 5 looks lightweight, not the savior to our championship season everyone is making him out to be?
Garbutt - 5 Average
Antwi (Off 70’) - 5 Young lad so can't be too harsh
James - 4 Offered nothing going forward or defensively, as usual, another poor signing
Hamilton (Off 78’)- 3 Needs offloading and replacing, he's had more than enough chances now
Carey - 6 Raw but tries to get on the ball and get forward at least
John-Jules - 4 Once again, offered nothing
Lavery (Off 79’) - 6 Looks lively

Bowler (On 70’) - 7
Anderson (On 78’) - 7
Yates (On 79’) - 7

All subs looked good when they came on.

Grimshaw - 6 looks ok tbh
Casey - 6 out of position
Keogh - 6 better, but no faster
Gretarsson - 7 promising first game back
Garbutt - 7 good balls into the box
Antwi (Off 70’) - 6 not involved enough
James - 6 same as usual
Hamilton (Off 78’)- 4 injury seems to have affected him a lot
Carey - 8 busy
John-Jules - 8 two assists
Lavery (Off 79’) - prodded a goal

Bowler (On 70’) - 8 lively
Anderson (On 78’) - 8 confident
Yates (On 79’) - 8 sharp

Grimshaw - 6, good with feet but yet to see him make a save
Casey - 5, not a RB so unfair to judge him
Keogh - 7, thought he was solid last night and took the ball forward well at times. Danger from set pieces.
Gretarsson - 6, didn't do much wrong on first game back other than a couple of wayward passes
Garbutt - 6, again didn't do anything wrong but he needs to step up a gear, I'd give Husband a go at LB on Saturday
Antwi (Off 70’) - 5, not a Championship player, needs to go out on loan for some experience
James - 6, he got forward well a couple of times in the second half, but just doesn't seem a CM to me
Hamilton (Off 78’)- 4, poor again when he needed a good display. Not the same player after injury and wondering if he's lost a yard of pace.
Carey - 6, shows for the ball, clearly good on the ball, just needs to take the game by scruff of the neck with an end delivery
John-Jules - 7, best game so far i've seen of him, thought he did well out on LW
Lavery (Off 79’) - 7, got the goal but otherwise a bit of a quiet evening from him

Bowler (On 70’) - 8, signing of the summer so far, changes games everytime he comes on
Anderson (On 78’) - 8, really finding his footing for us now, oozing confidence coming for the ball and taking it on
Yates (On 79’) - 8, instantly made a difference creating a couple of chances and having the strength to hold off the defender

Grimshaw -6
Casey -6
Keogh -7
Gretarsson -7
Garbutt -7
Antwi (Off 70’) -7
James -6

TJJ offered two assists.

CJ out best player when he was on form. Perhaps still needs time to get properly match fit but needs to be shown loyalty rather than contempt. IMHO - of course.

I thought there were a lot of okayish performances from the starting 11 last night, and some good performances from the subs. But a few of the starters were under par. Not creative enough in midfield and sometimes ponderous and predictable playing out of defence. Lavery worked hard and scored but got little support. John Jules impressed me overall and has a good touch, something that CJ misses in his game and for which I believe is a big handicap for the team in the Championship when balls to him are mis-controlled in promising positions. Apart from the subs performing well the biggest plus for me was Carey's performance. He seems to like a shot and once he gets his shooting boots on he could be a very useful asset running from those midfield positions. He must be in line for a first team start soon. Most disappointing aspect was the timing of the substitutions. Too late again. Had they been made 10 minutes earlier the result could well have swung in our favour. The performance level certainly went up a notch when all 3 subs on. With Fulham next at home it would be good to get something on Saturday. We mustn't start poorly again though. We can't keep coming back from a deficit like we did at Bristol and Bournemouth.

Millwall away and Fulham will be very tough assignments, though.

Just watched on TTV. They had commentary this time! Their 2nd goal was shocking. O'Brien just casually walked back and around and into a massive area of open space, put his hand up for the ball, and not a single of our players seemed to notice. A bunch panicked and ran toward him when they saw he had brought down the ball, but it was too late. I don't know what the corner defending instructions are but someone must not have followed theirs.

Grimshaw - 7 (Didn't have much to do and didn't have a chance on any of the goals)

Casey - 5 (Even less of a RB than Connolly, at fault for the first and last goals, didn't do anything when their offside ball went in. I kind of wonder if he was supposed to be marking O'Brien on their 2nd.)

Keogh - 7 (Much better than last time, but that may be because of how they played. I still don't trust him against a team who press or run at the defense with the ball at their feet. Against a team who sits back, yes please. He's not afraid to run up the pitch and make a forward pass.)

Gretarsson - 7 (Sloppy at times but how about those long diagonals?)

Garbutt - 7

Antwi (Off 70’) - 2 (I know he's young but he was woeful. Moves in slow motion. Doesn't want to tackle; a couple of times it looked like he thought about it and then backed out. Poor passing, poor ball control. Our fullbacks didn't want to throw it in to him, and you could see why. He took the ball off an opponent once in the 2nd half, otherwise did nothing. Loan him out or sell him, even without much depth at that position I'd rather have a CB as midfield cover.)

James - 5 (Doesn't look like much more than a squad player. A few nice moves.)

Hamilton (Off 78’)- 4 (What the hell has happened to him? He tried to contribute but nothing came off.)

Carey - 7 (Some really great moves, not quite there yet but he looks like he'll be very good. Played everywhere; when he dropped back he was our best central midfielder.)

John-Jules - 8 (MOTM for me. Fantastic first touch, ball control, passing, decision making... and he's not as soft as some people were making out. He's our playmaker this season, no doubt. Would be a 9 if he hadn't gone missing for a period in the middle.)

Lavery (Off 79’) - 8 (Watching him makes me wonder why everyone else doesn't play like this. Absolutely lights out, plays every game like it's a cup final, terrorized defenders, and what a finish!)

Bowler (On 70’) - 9 (A class above. If he gets consistent with his final ball, we'll end up selling him to a prem side for 15 million).

Anderson (On 78’) - 7

Yates (On 79’) - 8
