Swindon Town v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.04.21

That was a masterclass in how to go away from home, totally dominate your opponent and get a result.
If you've watched that game and don't feel immensely proud of what has been built in a relatively short period of time, then you're on the wrong board.
To a man that was class, everyone doing their job, never giving an inch, capped by two superb goals.

I love this team and what it has become.
Couldn't agree more. We might not quite make the top three and promotion could be a bit of a lottery through the playoffs but the way the squad pulls together is fantastic. Best for a long, long time 👍

It would be great if we could get Simms, Embleton, Ballard and Gabriel signed on permanent deals, need to get promoted I reckon to have any chance at all, although I can see Simms and Embleton signing anyway.

Little shout for Turton.
Hes looked just fine at CB against some decent strikers.
Amazing really as he’s not over 6 foot but is winning his fair share of headers and his positioning / reading of the game is very good.
I’d renew his contract just to have his versatility when injuries kick in
I can't realistically see any way that he doesn't get offered a new deal after how he has performed this season.

thought they would be a decent side when we played them at Bloomfield road, but that game they spent a lot of time messing around with the ball in their own half, which we capitalised on, this time though they just didnt have the ball.

excellent performance all round, would have liked to have seen a couple more goals but hey ho

go again Monday against a real sh17house team, i wonder if it will be falling over, conning the ref, feign injury, waste time. Hopefully Critch will have them worked out.

maybe another round of slowly slowly catchee monkey.

That was a thoroughly professional display, limiting them to few chances. Being hyper critical some of our passing was a little off but the pitch, which was a shocker, probably contributed to that. The 2 goals were excellent finishes, Simms in particular was a cracker and will have boosted his confidence considerably. Hopefully Gretarrson being subbed was just a precaution and all our players will be available for Monday.

If we win 'em we're flying, we have at least 1 game in hand on everyone around us, 2 on others and even bloody 3 on a few. We can put some serious distance between us and most teams by picking up results in those games in hand.

If you're a team above us by a couple points or behind us by a few you'll be looking at our current form and our games in hand and thinking: "shit!"

Well, if you’re Hull you’re thinking ‘shit we’re still only 4 points inside the playoffs not including games in hand’, if you’re outside the playoffs you’re thinking ‘well it’s starting to get out of our hands now’. If we lost against Gillingham it’s not the end of the world, if they lose against us it’s pretty much game over

I remember earlier in the season after watching the Fleetwood v Hull match someone on here said we'd be light years behind both Hull and Fleetwood.
Well..........we're certainly not light years behind those Cods and we're not exactly half a season behind Hull.
As a side point neither of those teams have beaten us this season.
This team, with a fully fit squad would definitely be pushing for automatic and I just hope that we can hang on to a playoff spot with the players we have left.

Comfortable win today but harder tests to come before seasons end #utmp👍🏻

Great result. Pity Fleetwood aren't any good and let Posh win otherwise we'd be closing in on that auto spot.
Pilley should give up and let The Cod Bother's Fry.

Their existence is meaningless and probably subject to more scientific debate than the purpose of Wasps.

IF, massive word that uses only two letters😏😉

I was a bit bored and just considering opening my Easter Egg when Ellis took that one down and smacked it in! 🤣
I was watching them walk off the pitch at half time and didn’t even notice that we were 1-0 up, completely missed the goal as I had the sound off with having a barbecue with my kids! Thought I’d watched it all so how I missed Simms goal I don’t know 😂

See my reply to Tangerinepeel 👍🏻

And actually I got it wrong, he didn't take it down he just let a brilliant through ball drop over his shoulder then belted it. I've had half the Easter egg in celebration! 🤣 👍

We looked so comfortable after the first 10.

One of those games where there were no standout performances, just a good all round professional display.

Still a way to go this season, let's hope we can keep this run going.

Absolutely, but when you’re the team outside the playoffs you don’t tend to look at it that way!
The best way for any team entering this stage of the season is just win, do the best you can and see where it gets you.
As soon as you start looking at other teams and hoping X beats Y or A draws with B your goosed

Well, what we talk about here makes no difference to the result on the pitch so I’m not sure I agree

One of the few positives of the pandemic is that it has enabled me to watch Pool far more than in recent times (working in London and weekends in Worcester). The thing that sticks out for me is how well coached the team is - everyone plays the simple ball, they never panic, they rarely give away silly free kicks around the box, they don’t get involved with silly stand offs with the opposition, they never do anything to rile the ref - and they always look like they are going to win every match - truly amazing !
