Tackling anti social behaviour

We all know it’s a tiny minority of young kids misbehaving, I think there’s a few things that can be done to sort it.
I think because away fans are housed the other end of the ground, the kids seem to think when they leave the ground that is their chance for a confrontation with them, I think housing away fans closer during the game so both sets of fans could chant creating a better atmosphere that might help.

Putting police or stewards at the bottom of the stand so people can’t just congregate there for the last ten minutes, it should be leave or back up to your seats, it’s not fair on the disable people who have shite seats as it is.

Pull the shutter down on the gangway nearest to the east stand (block a) so people have to leave through the central north and west exits.

Pouring all bottled pop into cups, ino this would cause even longer queues 🥴

This season away from home we’ve been next to singing sections at derby, forest, boro, Swansea, reading, hull and Huddersfield with no major issues, minor issues will always occur at football we seem to be the only club struggling with it yet every club has its fair share of plant pots so whats the reason ?
Why can all these clubs have singing sections next to the away fans with no issues yet our club thinks it’s a good idea to house them on the other side of the ground and then literally walk them right infront of the home fans at the end of the game it doesn’t make much sense.

You will soon have the “the West isn’t fit for purpose” brigade after you. However, it was perfectly fine to house Blackpool supporters in there over recent years at numerous games.

As for the people at the back, if Blackpool Police spent less time videoing innocent football fans who stand at the bottom of Block B and videoing the “missile throwers” who congregate at the top it would solve the issue and culprits would be brought to justice much quicker. However, for some bizarre reason, they insist on doing so.

Although I don’t want to see young lads banned, something needs doing. I think the strategies you’ve mentioned above are good, feasible ones. We’ve all been young idiots at times and with it being our first season back in the Championship, first full season back after COVID, understandably the excitement is there for majority of fans - which, by the way, I believe helps out atmosphere massively. I understand that excitement needs to be channelled a different way, but the police also need to be held accountable for the majority of events in and around BR this season.

Yep it may seem counter-productive but its not, a far away crowd dehumanises it somewhat.

Up close you can actually have a bit more respect.

That would hold if they weren't throwing things when they are close, but its probably because they are kept away all game its the only chance for interaction, so all that energy is used in that moment.

Rather than over a whole game with many chances to mock etc.

I can get why the club might be a bit nervous to try it but tbh they shouldn't have moved away fans away, but I guess facilities in the south did that?

I dont get why safety at our stadium seems ott when all other clubs experience this stuff and don't shut blocks or have ridiculous size segregation.

Do other club have police filming along the tiny segregation? Or is it a case of because they are they they see stuff that they'd see anywhere if they were there the same?

I dont get why idiots feel the need to throw stuff still, banter up close is enough, if away fans have come away empty handed its funny to mock but doesn't need to go any further than that.

Simple way to stop this is club appointed stewards at the top of the stands by the stairs with the right to eject and ban fans.
These stewards could be Muckers or Blackpool Fans (whatever) with fan enjoyment/support as their main concern

Fans in blocks A - D are advised that they are there to stop anti-social behaviour only....but they do have the right to eject and ban.
Fans looking out for other fans...So a quiet word before hand....and if ignored, they are identified and asked to leave.
Keep doing it and they are banned for a season......

No £8,91 jobs worth stewards...but fans helping other fans........in a few weeks (if there is a hardcore anti-social brigade) they will be gone.
Maybe the (sorry, I cant say Top brass)...bigger, older muckers may do it to stop this shenanigans before it gets too stupid

The club could stop over-egging bog standard football fan behaviour. Just a thought. Chill out on their own tannoy and most people wouldn't even know or care about half of this stuff.

Sorry , but why is the west now not fit for purpose ?

How much is that going to cost for something you intend to knock down in the next few years?

Not popular but you'd be better putting the aways in the North Block A+B as at some point they are going to moved somewhere when the East is redeveloped.
Exactly, I’ve been saying that for ages but it won’t happen cos they don’t want to upset people, it should not have even been put out there by the interim board, ever since I started going in 1983 that’s the area the away fans were, simple!! and it worked. They went out the back onto either the prom or town job done 👍🏻

Why can’t they just go in a purpose built part of the new east stand where they will build a holding pen at the back like a lot of other championship grounds.

All well and good but we're talking years away before the possibility of of a new stand and you've got to build it first, there's most of the season gone with that.
Then you've the problem where do the aways go then?
I'd prefer us home fans to have the new shiny stand and facilities let the aways have half the North which apart from the accusicts while chanting is crap.

That would be spot on when it eventually happens , to be honest I don’t see the real issue with away fans goin out the way they come in at the moment as long as they are diverted left, we were made to go on a detour of 20 mins at Coventry the other night to get to a car park that was across the road😯

Why should away fans be put next to the North with non existent facilities sorry a portaloo doesn't count let's not treat the aways as all thugs they are good for the town with their spend so at least give them toilets and bar.
But it’s fine for Pool fans to be housed there? Are we of lesser worth to the town?

Everyone seems to be quick to blame the police instead of the stupid fucks that think its okay to chuck stuff at people who like their team to wear a different colour to ours.

Edit: SOME PEOPLE, not everyone
Is it not the police’s duty to seek out these trouble makers?

Why do the police insist on standing at the bottom of the east and filming the select 30 people who are situated at the bottom of block B, week in, week out despite their being no incidents of throwing missiles?

The only game we've needed it is the Nobbers so I don't really get your point.
Homecoming? Was fine for 1000+ Blackpool to be housed there?

There was also another game, later on in the home coming season where I’m sure we were also housed there.

A burger van and some portaloo’s. Job done.

Homecoming when away fans where in the North that was 3 years ago we're on about the here and now and the only game we've needed part of the East is Prescum.
So you can put the aways next to the North with a portaloo and a burger van but the part with the facilities and brings in revenue will remain closed.

When/IF we started selling out regular then it should be looked at.

Do you know what kind of lense they use? Have you seen their footage? Yes it's the job of the police to find them, but it's the nobheads who throw stuffs job to not throw stuff. You can't blame the police that there's nobheads around. Only their parents and the nobheads can be responsible for their shite behaviour.

The away fans could still be housed in the North end of the East Stand, and walk a few extra yards walk to the existing refreshment bars and toilets at the south end of the East Stand.

But the police aren’t finding them, are they? That’s why the issue is persisting.

But the police aren’t finding them, are they? That’s why the issue is persisting.
And also it persists mainly because the people keep throwing stuff... I'm sure people sit near them, people see them throwing the stuff... but noone is brave enough to come forward.

In fact, why don't you tell the police yourself that they're looking in the wrong place? The police rely heavily on public support and if they aren't getting it then they aren't gonna be able to do as good of a job as if they were.

The latest Club statement was a bit hysterical and it coincides with the Police trying to shift blame onto fans. I’m in Block B and can honestly say I’ve seen a few bottles thrown (god knows why they do this) and a group congregating at the front and flicking v’s singing you’re fuckin shit. It’s hardly mortal kombat.

As mentioned fans at other grounds are basically next to each other bar for a couple of rows and a steward. For some reason we need blocks of seats between them at our ground?

I also don’t think some portaloos and a burger bar will cost much to stick them in the NE but I would guess the police don’t want this at all, despite this happening in much bigger rivalries and fixtures than ours. Let’s be honest, it’s farcical they have to walk half the pitch to exit the stand. That’s on the stewards and policing on Bloomfield Road. If we were at a ground and they made us do that people would be moaning on here.

There is a part of me that thinks sometimes this is created and somewhat manufactured by the powers that be. The Armfield Club walk-by’s of away fans make zero sense from a policing point of view, it’s almost like they want trouble to then be able to act.

Because I’m not a grass. Next question?

It’s a well known fact that police justify their costings to clubs by arrests and banning orders given out to “risk supporters.”

Away fans being walked past the Armfield is a strategical method used by police to incite violence meaning they can continue to justify their coatings to the club.

So basically we are going to do the stewards job? I go to a game to watch the football not make sure supporters are behaving or to help the police?

What are the stewards doing?

It’s getting daft this. It’s the equivalent of going to tell a traffic warden someone is parked on double yellows or is 25 minutes over their parking time.

Or you could tell them to stop yourself? Would you be arsed if someone chucked a bottle at you during the football? Would it disrupt what you were doing or would you just continue watching the football? Because that's what you're there to do...

Also I'd like to add the stewards are probably stood at the bottom trying to stop you lot of yobs from actually getting to the away fans as they leave.

Are you actually stupid? How else are they supposed to leave? Air lift? People moaned when they walked out the south side... now they're moaning that they're going out the north side 🤣🤣🤣 it's all a conspiracy, yes you're right!!!

Evidently you don’t attend many Blackpool games, as if you did you’d know the Armfield is situated at the South side of the stadium.

We now have armchair fans at Blackpool FC.. I see dark times ahead. 🥴

My mistake, monged it! Not sure why but I thought it was further down Lytham road, never realised it was on bloomfield although now you say it I do know the pub 😅

Eh? That makes no sense.

Look up the meaning of steward and look up the meaning of fan. Then you’ll see my point.

also they would be the first to start ranting about stewards and security throwing people out/
some on here want to try being a steward especially response who normally are SIA door staff and the shit they have to put up with when ejecting fans

Don't go to the football if you can't handle it and therefore decide throwing things at people is a good idea 🤏
Out of the whole stand of 3,000 or so, how many are doing it? 3? 5?

Why’s there a sweeping generalisation that it’s everyone? Can you not be in the North and behave no?

It is a very small minority who probably aren’t even drinking young teenage lads, just trying to act hard and think throwing a Lemon Fanta shows it.

It’s not the rest of the fans fault? It’s the idiots doing it and the Club’s responsibility to stop it. It’s not my responsibility to steward or police events is it? Or are we entering a new era where I need to start showing people to their seats and telling them to calm down as part of a day out.

For some strange reason there are too many people who don’t like the North Stand.

Honestly, I’d rather not try be a steward. And definitely not a doorman - bunch of bullies with a badge.

Happy clappers, mate.

Have an extremely strange agenda against anyone who stands in the North.

Most definitely. The irony is, they all buzz about the atmosphere and then moan about then criticise the people who create it.

Not sure whatever happened with the alleged racist remark at the Coventry game that came from the West, but there definitely wasn’t the same energy on blaming the Westies as the anti-North stuff.

In an ideal world this would be the case but we don’t live in perfect world we live in the real world where it does happen, I wish people didn’t get murdered and raped but they do so we have a system with dealing with it just like we need a way of dealing with this, simply saying they shouldn’t do it doesn’t work.

It isn’t just teenagers who behave like this at football matches.
On the contrary, it’s often middle aged men or older.
It’s the social background and mindset of many football supporters.

You don’t get this in Rugby Union or Cricket!
