Taking the knee...

I see Millwall fans are getting grief for the booing at the taking of the knee.

How much longer is this going to continue?

It's time this farce came to an end!
It's also time racism came to an end, been going on for centuries. Which should we stop first?

I am not convinced the knee thing will help the anti racist agenda much if at all. But it's not my decision. And racism is still expressed within football, so maybe we need to back down and look at where the racism comes from, and work out how to deal with it? Rather than get narky and tell them to pack it in cos we are bored of it or whatever?

I'm reading that as you're upset at Millwall fans getting grief.

In my opinion it's probably not to do with racism but just the fact it seems to have gone on too long. Dont forget this also happened at other games, so it's not just Millwall.

Maybe it should go on until we get racism out of football? Until Millwall fans embrace people of all colours as equals?! 🤣

He'll might freeze over before then. I note that Wayne Rooney, in his post matcher, said he and Derby support it and will continue to do so. Look where he came from and think where he is now. We can grow up and realise what's right - all of us.

Ye BLM are against the family unit, no surprise Rooney supports them with his track record😞

I think al the previous threads have been deleted ☹️
from a personal point of view this lockdown is proper getting to me , but when I watched the video yesterday it gave me an extra spring in my step and I’m still buzzing now 👍
thank you millwall from the bottom of my heart 💗
I wish you no ill Poultongirl but you do seem to pick battles that counter decent morality. I'm happy to listen if you don't believe you do.

I can understand people not wanting to take the knee or disagreeing with aspects of the BLM movement, but booing? Why the fuck would you boo?

I also don't understand the 'white lives matter' counter or the mention of Lee Rigby on another thread, as if you can't support multiple causes. It's like booing World Stroke Day because Leukaemia exists.

There is only one reason for booing, we all ** know what it is and terrible excuses don't cut it. It's also literally impossible to understand fully from a white perspective.

It was West Ham as well. That was mysteriously covered up.

Fact is, this was booing of BLM, nothing to do with any racial connotations.

It needs to stop, it's causing huge division, and the majority don't understand the difference. According to Dion Dublin and by association the BBC, anyone who disagrees with BLM is racist - absolutely pathetic and hugely insulting.

One of many explanations of what BLM stand for. We already have zero tolerance, we already have "kick it out", we don't need this lot.

If you don't like it booing your giving an opinion so stupid.

Spectator innit, about as valid as me linking to various Guardian articles.

Do BLM not burn peoples houses and businesses down?

Can you tell me, is BLM a proscribed organisation in the. UK?

I hear people saying Millwall fans are just brain dead racist morons.... 🤔

BUT...others have said it's because Millwall don't like BLM as they see it as a Marxist organisation.
So Millwall fans were just standing up for their political beliefs by booing players taking a knee.

Just like the time they threw bananas on the pitch during a match to highlight the plight of Orangutans in Borneo.
And the time they made loud Monkey noises towards black players on the other team to cheer them up.
Or the time the Millwall 'firm' The Bushwhackers unfurled a swastika and gave Nazi salutes....to show solidarity with Germany.

Seems Millwall fans are just 'misunderstood' and at no time are they racist scumbags.....but just expressing their political beliefs.........

It needs to stop I dont want to pay my hard earned money to see it on TV and when I get to pay to see a match live I will boo if I feel that it’s safe to do so without some young left wing or BAME fanatic threatening to stove my head in

As I said, one of many. So as you're seemingly discrediting the source, which ones are you saying are incorrect?

Oh and do you agree that anyone who disagrees / does not support BLM is a racist?
Nope. read my first post. Much the same as everyone who 'supports' it isn't. I'm always suspicious of any organised movement but to actually boo players who are making a statement about racism is ridiculous.

My point is this linking to articles that suit is just pointlessly invalid in the course of a discussion and let's face it, no one is going to change anyone's mind anyway, we're all just shouting in to the void hoping people who already agree bolster our arguments.

Who's threatened to stove your head in?

Listened to Spurs/Arsenal and the ‘taking the knee’ was applauded, Millwall have had a terrible reputation for racism over the years along with West Ham, obviously not all their fans but each club have more than their fair share!

I agree. Which is why it needs to stop. Players feel obligated. If they don't comply they are pursued by the media for an explanation.

Stuff like this is banned by FIFA for a reason.

Yes - its getting a bit like that poppy thing we do. 100 years and still doing it.

These threads always bring out the worst in people. They also garner a high number of posts. I think it's because there are posters who want to see the best in people and those who love being awful racists

It will happen the morons who are being indoctrinated with this BLM crap will want to prove how non racist they are
Or you could re-write that comment as:
It will happen, the racist morons who are being indoctrinated with this NF / British Movement crap will want to prove how racist they really are...

Not seen many people who have the capacity to understand what BLM means, running around attacking white people.

While your average racists likes nothing more to spend their JSA on a few beers down spoons and have a tear up against some 60 year old kebab owner while showing everyone why they think they are the 'master' race......before going back to their council flat to beat up the girlfriend again.

Millwall have some scummy racist fans. Probably more than most teams.
Its good that racism is highlighted.

It was Millwall and people are surprised? Are F troop still going? I remember when they came to Bloomfield Road in the 70’s and I bet Raging does

I've just read the Spectator article and it seems clear there are plenty of reasons for not supporting the BLM organisation:

Not a registered charity and therefore not accountable for the use of massive levels of donations. It's aims and objectives are:

Capitalism must be dismantled

Climate change is a racist crisis - black people are the first to die not the first to fly

Prisons should be abolished

National borders should be abolished

Unemployment is violence

Stop and search should be outlawed

The police should be abolished

Appointing a Pakistani woman to head up the Commission on Racial Equality is racist

Suffragettes were racists seeking to advance white power

Churchill was staunchly racist

Big charities are nothing but colonisers

Seems like a fairly typical terrorist organisation to me.

I'd add that taking the knee is NOT in support of BLM, its said every week on MOTD that its raising awareness of ALL forms of discrimination.

Certainly is, just listened to an interview on 5Live with Liam Rosenior first team coach at Derby talking about the booing yesterday. He was saying how much it affected both sides players and they discussed it at half time, a very articulate and well balanced young man indeed.
