Team for Tuesday

Glad I'm not a workhorse for you guys. Let's not knacker the players with overwork, two or three changes starting with Joseph to start.

I wonder if the players still have the enhanced recovery benefit our advanced cryogenic facility used to bestow.

I think it's highly unlikely Joseph will start, it'll be another 15 mins at most imo. Critchley said he was being gradually brought in on Saturday's, and tbh I don't think he'd play much part at all if Lavery was available. I reckon he might get a start on Saturday though, to rest Rhodes.

I don't say that any of them can be dropped after their performances over the last two games. So I'd say rinse and repeat but we do have a strong bench available if any of them start to look even slightly tired and then we can ring the changes for when we play the kale munchers at the weekend

Rhodes and Beesley from the off again. Another 20/30 mins for Joseph before his first start in the cup. 10/11 days between league games after Tuesday night so a good opportunity to rest the likes of Dougall, Rhodes and Husband.

same again for me on Tuesday and then a few changes for Saturday. Casey, Joseph, Thompson maybe even Gabriel.

I'd be quite happy to see Joseph start if Critch thinks Rhodes might need a breather.... otherwise same starting eleven with Joseph coming on in the second half.
Couldn’t envisage starting without Dougall though..him and Dembele are pivotal to everything we do lately.

Go ahead unless any players are carrying clear injuries. Two 4-0s in a row means we need to roll again.

Rhodes is a fit lad who wants to play every game and why would you change a winning formula.
Dale, Joseph or Beesley up top are all option for Saturday against a side with no current form.
Get the points on the board - we won't win the FA Cup but we can still win promotion.

Will Rhodes be allowed to play on Saturday?
He was on the bench against Bromley but didn’t come on so I assume that means he’s not cup-tied?

John Mousinho on Pompey's 27 game unbeaten run...

‘Of course there are going to be opportunities for players to come in when we don’t win games, but, what has been pretty constant throughout, is we have changed the side. Even when we hadn’t lost in 27 league matches, even when we’ve won matches.

‘We have picked teams based on what we thought was best for our side at this present minute and also what's best to play against the opposition.’

Same mistake as Critch!

Same team hopefully and if we are comfortably ahead, Rhodes could always come off at half time to save his legs. He doesn't seem to be struggling though, obviously you can't always tell from the stands.

He can't be cup tied as Huddersfield are in the Championship and he has been given permission to play. I'd say play him for 5 mins and that's one less reason for Huddersfield to recall him. 🤣

Taking Rhodes age into consideration and the fact that we only have 3 fit strikers I'd start Joseph.
Apart from that same again.

Voy, I personally don’t see it as a mistake but more for tactical reasons to combat the opposition which, you will find, a lot of managers do.
People call NC the tinker man but he is nothing of the sort. Because there can be so many permutations of players all managers need to rotate their squad to identify the best starting XI which, I do believe NC has now found, or he is getting extremely close to it.
Even then though there will be times when a change is needed.

I agree. 👍

I had my tongue in my cheek.
