Tenuous connections to footballers

Was taught maths & PE at Cardinal Allen, Fleetwood in 1976/77 by Peter Suddaby whilst he was doing his teacher training👍
Also literally bumped into Kevin Keegan at Manchester Airport.

Peter Suddaby taught us technical drawing at our school in Fleetwood in the late 70's as a relief teacher.

I shared a cabin on sea trials with ex Rangers player Brian Heron who was manager of Maryhill FC at the time. Half his team worked for BAE in Scotstoun on the T45 warship programme. I also got bladdered with the Maryhill team a few months later on the coach back from Montrose Roselea where they lost in the Junior Cup.

Many, many years ago while I still had hair, the current Premier League referee Paul Tierney was my barber in Wigan.....

My wife used to work with Dennis Law's neice. She used to say I never really thought of him as a Footballer he was just "Uncle Dennis" to me.

My family lived next door to Jimmy Armfield, a few years before I was born and then when I was 12, I played in the same same Sunday Church Club with Brian Kidd.

I once stood next to George Best in a bar at New Street Station in Brum. I was slightly awestruck and didn't pluck up the courage to speak to him...!

And bumped into George Best and his wife ,when I worked at Gatwick (and quite a few football teams and celebrities)

My mate used to work at Boots n Racquets in Teanlowe, who used to have a contract with BFC for supply of boots. Served several players.

But mainly, I'm the brother of a one time decent keeper, now trying to resurrect his career in the BFC Walking Vets team.

My mate used to work with somebody who lived next door to Ian Gore. He was a right hard bastard apparently.

Also my mate is friends with Jamie Vardy on Facebook.

Went into Stan Matthews house quite a few times when delivering telegrams. A gentleman was Sir Stan.
Not football related but when I worked at Newton Heath Post Office in Manchester one of my colleagues was the sister of
Jumping Jim Hussey, well known wrestler.

Told Mike England to go and fuck himself when he demanded I paid him upfront for a villa rental in pesetas in the 80's. He was big guy but stood my ground, he upped it to double what other villas were going for. Disliked the Welsh since.

Billy Ronson scored a hatrick against me when I played in goals in the BAYC League. To be fair he wasn't the only one by a long chalk

One of my close friends used to work with Gary Taylor Fletcher’s wife at the Nat West bank in Preston. The Monday after the Cardiff playoff win, she went into work and they’d completely covered her desk in ‘tangerine’ and white balloons 🧡

Same here. Can't recall if it was Duncan or John.
Used to sheepishly say "Hello Mr Armfield" when he occasionally did the school run.

Gary Briggs's wife was often on the counter when I called in to Royal Bank of Scotland, Talbot Square.
I was in the same class as John. A bit of a prat at school, though I believe he turned out to be a good guy
