The “Give Dobbie The Job” thread

It's a no brainer for Sadler, especially given the stick he has received for his latest appointments.
Leaves him blameless if Dobbie fails.

Fans on side (mainly); team on side (seemingly); develops young talent; knows the club and area; supports the Blackpool Way, track record (admittedly only six games); newbie risk in Div 1 much less than in Championship.. Unless there is a major risk with him not yet identified on here, or another candidate has Massive credentials, the smart money has to be on Dobbie.

Updated just for you

Lovely.

Maybe, not sure... I'd probably give it him but I could be described by some as "a wally".

Do we want more experience? I'm not sure...

There are a couple of other decent names thst are going around that I can't remember right now.

Some terrible ones as well such eg Alexander.

Fuck it. Just give it Dobbie!

Wonder if these three wins are actually a bit of a problem for Sadler who might have been thinking very differently before this?

Need someone who knows the market, knows the players out there that we can recruit, and who has experience.
Dobbie has done well, but it's a massive NO from me.
Sentimental appointment if he gets it, and not one based on the best man for the job getting it.
Sadler can't afford another mistake. Dobbie is a mistake waiting to happen and the 'fans' will turn on him in no time if things don't start out well.
Time for fans to stop feeling butt-hurt about NC and bring him back.
A second Critchley term would NOT be like the first which was largely successful due to the togetherness he generated with the crowd and the team. Too many see his leaving as a betrayal now.

You'd have to think that most of those who feel betrayed are grown adults - so this whole 'betrayal' thing is pretty much a nonsense.
He left to work with one of Englands best ever midfielders and one of Liverpool's greatest ever players. Who could deny him that opportunity given his Scouse roots in terms of career?

The problem with some of our fans, is that they're still gutted he left and they forget the real reason why they're gutted - it's because they connected with him and its BECAUSE he left. But he did the business on the pitch, and we took off as a club. There is no way on earth we'd have gone down this season if NC was still manager - and the hurt fans know that, but it's time to swallow whatever pride there is left, and accept that life is a business, and business is life. Stop taking it personally. He didn't hurt you, you just FELT hurt. He's a great coach and manager, and if we can get him back we should welcome him with open arms.

People move on for better opportunities. Get over it.

I wish people would stop banging on about many years league experience being crucial in terms of choosing a manager. Stephen Dobbie has been in football for 28 years since he joined Rangers at the age of 12. At 40 yo he is a mature person and a good coach. If not for us, then another club will snap him up.

Alex Ferguson was 32 yo when he started management with East Stirlingshire and St Mirren, 36 yo when he joined Aberdeen (3 Scottish Prem titles, 4 Scottish FA Cups and the European Cup-winners Cup) and 44 yo on joining Man Utd.... just saying, like.
