I am a Rotherham fan who came on to your board to congratulate you cub's promotion. I saw the thread about the photo of a Newcastle player signing autographs out side St James Park. I am 100% certain that it is Albert Bennett, who left the Millers for the magpies for £27,500 in June 1965.

Good luck for next season and I am so pleased you got the best out of Jerry Yates
 
Thanks for that, I was going to put it on one of the Geordie message boards to see if it could be cleared up. Did you see the link on that Newcastle fans site where they actually put the date and photo reference saying it was Alan Suddick being mobbed by autograph hunters at st James's?

I must admit the hairstyle threw me but I wasn't watching when Suddick first signed for the Pool. Thanks for responding.

I don’t think it’s Alan Suddick either .......... I said it on a earlier post but was convinced it was ..... but I sure it’s not !!!!

Cheers for that mr ancient Rotherham, good luck to you getting promoted next year as well, my first away game was millmore away back in the day & I got speaking to one of your fans the last time we played you , I asked where the old ground was and to my surprise he pointed it out, can’t believe it’s still standing, would have liked to wandered down to it but we didn’t have time
