The AVFTT Gardening isolation thread

Mine is a Laguna waterfall and fountain pump. It circulates, aerates and filters. Different sizes depending on the size of the pond. Sealed unit that has been constantly running for a couple of years now. I've gone from 5 fish to around 60 as they've bred. Loads of little ones just emerging after winter having changed colour from black to mainly Tangerine.
We had problems with ours and the pond supplier suggested new pumps,so we took a trip to Tesco and bought a pair of size 9s.
Didnt help the fish but they look ok with jeans.

Thanks everyone for the pond advice - just bought the hozelock 6000 easy care from amazon... at least it's in their ystem and will arrive when it arrives. Thanks again
Morning all - the hozelocks been in the pond since the 30th March. I've also got a separate filter tank that's got a 9w UV built into it. Both UV's are on but the water is still green with no sign of clear water yet. Is there something else I need to be doing or is it just a waiting game? Thanks in advance

Apologies for the rubbish pic but this is the size of the pond - two x 9w UV watt bulbs zapping the green algae but still very green and murky in there.... is it just a waiting game or can I be doing anything to speed things up as I've time on my hands ? Many thanks to all you tangerine gardening experts out there

They say a bale of barley kills off green algae. Acids in the decomposing barley doesn't harm the fish but changes the chemical composition of the water.

Few bedding plants might have been killed off overnight by the frosts - always said the over enthusiastic April gardener never wins!

Anyone else struggling to get hold of compost! Been to two garden centers, a couple of DIY stores and 3 supermarkets in the last few days and can’t buy it for love or money!!
