The BST Membership Secretary ain't happy!

Surely an email to the club direct rather than a tweet would be the efficient way of going about things. Clearly a political tweet in response to fan grumbling over what is a perfectly simple set of instructions.

renewal seats aren’t going anywhere hence the three day response time.

I think Covid has made people impatient!
 
I understand his frustration but feel he has overreacted and thrown his 'toys out of the pram'

This feels like what is becoming a common approach for people to use social media as a lever to shame organisations into action. And in the right circumstances, if you've been repeatedly ignored in private communication or an urgent situation isn't being sorted, that can be a sensible approach. I'm not saying the club systems are perfect and it sounds like it is frustrating for him and there is a flaw in the process. This doesn't feel urgent or that he is being ignored however and so it feels a bit OTT.

Having a role in BST he obviously cares a great deal about the club so perhaps use it as an opportunity to contact them directly and help them improve what sounds like a flaw in the system? Better that than going in studs up publicly with little benefit for anyone.

Alternatively just set up a couple of free gmail accounts purely for this process, and have those accounts forward all mail to his? I realise that's a bit of a faff but it's not very hard and is a workaround if the system is a bit crap and not playing ball when people don't have email addresses.

Like I say, you were the one calling him names on the back of one tweet. I don't know him well, but yes, I defended him. He's a volunteer who gives up countless hours of his own time to help Blackpool fans, and has done for years and years. You might see that as me being a dick too, but I don't.

I said seems, you don't seem to grasp that do you? He's basically given up buying a season ticket without exploring the hundreds of avenues he could have done. Going to twitter to have a pop at the club for something he could solve himself. So yes, pretty clearly a bit of a dick. Shouldn't really need explaining? Especially to someone of your intelligence.
 
Must admit I do not get the need to use twitter to publicly contact the club in such a manner. It is clearly frustrating. However, two hours of someones life, then giving up and going public.. Wow. Just no need and it is little wonder people will criticize him. There are far worse things in life to be a grumpy seasider about, and to complain about.

It's something he wouldn't do again, probably. I just can't help but feel that it's all a bit one way with these small band of people who actually put themselves out for us all. People are quick to condemn them, very slow to acknowledge them. So I defended him. I agree with you he was a bit daft.
 
I thought you guys lead the way with an SLO in harness? I can understand the frustration but why couldn't the membership secretary ring or text the other BST committee who's also the SLO?
 
tbf he is probably just having a bad day and we are all entitled to one or two of them from time to time.
I dont know him but as said he is an active BST volunteer so although he imho overreacted i would be inclined give him the benefit of doubt.
Who knows In the future looking back at 'grandads twitter rant' may bring some amusement to him & his family.

Steve R. is no longer on the Committee, and hasn't been since he took on the SLO role.
 
Just got an e mail from BST advising people who are having difficulty renewing their season tickets to e mail the ticket office and they will get in touch with you.
 
I renewed my S/T online yesterday... Took approx 5 mins Inc letting my 5yr old grandson press some buttons.

Is that a requirement for the job? Still surprising it wasn't the first port of call particularly for a BST member,after all the canvassing and calls for a fan to get that position.
Grimsby have the same arrangement-you might have met her- but that hasn't really improved the fans conduit either in my view.

I've no idea what SR and the club thought about that, but he certainly removed any suggestion of conflicting interests.

I think Francis was just letting off steam, he probably never even thought about the AVFTT Jury.

I've met Miss Grimsby, but I don't know much about her role or what she thinks of it.
 
“£700 you now won’t be getting” - some supporter he sounds - perhaps BST should have a quiet word or remove him from the position. Not sure I’d want to be in the trenches with this lad!

Anyone I know who has had any issues has emailed the club and it’s been sorted in 48 hours max.

Yes they did indeed say that on the launch and also stated existing seats for ST holders would be held for a period of time even if you didn’t take up the early bird offer.
We can all get frustrated on a long call ( try getting through to HMRC 😳 and when you do you then get transferred off on another wait) ) or time spent filling in things on the Internet only for it to crash but to rant like this seems a bit sad.
By the way I renewed mine on line in just a few minutes despite the fact the e-ticketing link wasn’t having my stored reference and password to start with, though it was just the one ticket and immediate payment which is obviously a simpler transaction that he was trying to do.
 
He was always a bit of a look at me I'm Mr Blackpool fanny (but fair d,oes he got us off the hook )when dog food Dave tried to buy the club ,when we had the meeting to try to oust the scum bags ,by saying he didn't have a pot to piss in ,after a little research into his financial clout 👍.
 
I know what Francis is going through because I am encountering the same issue trying to buy 3 ST'S for my family.
With adults it's a "faff" but not too difficult. You simply need to set up a "network" in your own account and setup a permission. This does however mean that all STs within the "network" have to have an account, e-mail addresses, etc.
I do wonder though what the situation is with regards children and for the Westies that haven't got a computer.
 
Strange behaviour ... especially for an 'older gentleman' ... but such is the way of the new world where ready bleating can be done on social media by one and all at a moments notice.
 
I do understand his frustration as I am going through a similar experience. When paying for family members you have to register each person requiring an email address and a permission reply off them!
I have emailed them 2 days ago and still waiting for the phone call.
I am not having a hissy fit yet!

I don’t care who it is, anyone on social media tagging the club in to make a “big issue” out of it and who effectively says they aren’t buying tickets on the back of what was described deserves ridicule and approbrium. I’d say those making pack mentality comments wouldn’t be doing so if it were an average BFC fan with no BST connection. In fact they would be full on condescending tones about them needing to give their head a wobble etc etc.
