The financial truth

I am sick and tired of people calling for Saddler to go when there is no realistic chance of anyone else investing millions in our club. If you don't have any investment and we try and survive on just what the fans bring in then we are looking at £300,000 in gate receipts per season and maybe an optimistic £100,000 in merchandise ,drinks and food.
From that you have to pay players wages ,transfer fees , agents fees , ground staff , policing and I am sure there will be things I will have missed out on. How far would £400,000 get us ,apart from none league football and maybe even bankruptcy . If the people are really Blackpool fans that are writing that Sadler should go ,have a look at Morcambe and their problems . If you are Nobbers that are stirring things up . Image no more local derby's between you and your biggest rivals for the last 150 years.

If there is one game that most fans looked forward to is playing the nobbers and I am sure they think the same . We are not too big to go under ,but it looks like some fans want it.

Whilst I agree generally with your post and the point being made you are massively underestimating the gate receipts per season

Your headline is The financial truth, but there's very little truth if any in that statement.
At least spell the owners name correctly.
oh go on then, i'll give him a maths lesson. If we had 5000 st holders, [we've more] then to only raise £300,000 from sales the price of a season ticket would be just £60. Now i know myself on a senior ticket i've paid over 5 times that amount.

While the OP's maths are completely out, does the income we have outmatch the wages and fees we pay? Even with the fees we received? Even if we pretend tax isnt a thing, the obvious answer is no.

Is Sadler the perfect owner? No probably not, and I say that because when he took over, he was rich and flying high. Now, he's just rich. I think he has the clubs best interest at heart, which is very very important, but Stockport for example are much luckier than us. Their owner is county through and through, still flying high and getting it right. I would only want Sadler to step aside when a Blackpool version of Stott appears. I don't see one on the horizon.

Have just realised my maths is way out as I am looking at one home game and not the season . So I apologise for this post ,but I am trying to make people realise that we can't lose Sadler because there really is no body else .

How do you know there ain't anyone else?
Plenty of rich people about who want to waste their fortunes on football clubs but they might not be local.

Don’t worry about it, we realise you struggle with assessing football ability so was always a long shot about your basic grasp of finances being any good.

But, well done on spelling Sadler in this post 👏🏻 C+ - much improved.

ah right, so you are now basing 300k per home game. I'd quit digging that hole deeper. Sublime to the ridiculous.

Didn't Simon and the books say the club is being propped up to the tune of £5M every season. With the club having an estimated value of £20M it means we need someone willing to throw in £45M in the next 5 seasons to tread water! I'm guessing there isn't a very long queue of people forming..

Just putting the maths to one side, best that we do, and I ask this as a general supporter of the owner, how do you know there is no one else?

1.5 m would pay 6 players on 5 K pw...for a season. He has a point TBF. Saddler is bankrolling the club and there aren't too many people who would want to do that, especially when you consider the abuse he receives for the pleasure.
Some, not all supporters need to think about what they are wishing for because unless it's a pool fan who just won the euros jackpot, these kinds of people aren't just sitting there waiting to throw money away......and to be abused because the team ain't winning 5-0 every week on their own, moaned about, £300 st investment......ffs.

The maths were no doubt wrong but the general gist of the post was spot on.

Look at what has happened to the club since the takeover, forgetting the football side for now.

Squires gate, no longer the joke it was , a lot of money spent ensuring it was of a better quality than before;

The pitch, no longer a quagmire, a decent groundsman and the best pitch I can remember:

The Stadium, painted inside and out now looking very respectable:

The Stadium, a number of windows replaced as the previous ones appeared to be a job lot from a rag and bone man;

There is even hot water in the loo's, unknown previously;

The flags, North Stand taken down, cleaned and repositioned,

All of the above cost money and it appears there are plans for a new East Stand and eventually a new training ground. Mr Sadler has not been just taking money out of the club like our previous custodian but investing in the infrastructure of the ground.

A good few on this board should show the man some respect instead of wishing him out. Take a look at some other clubs and who they have ended up with as owners. Better the Devil you know springs to mind.

I appreciate as much as anyone the dire state of the team, mistakes have obviously been made, but I'm sure it will be fixed, and hopefully to some extent this season, lets await the transfer market in January and see what that brings.

There are some on here who would still be ungrateful if we finished as runners up in the Euro Leagues.

Who did the adding up for you,D. Abbott.
A crowd of 8,000.Per home game paying an average of £15 a ticket brings you £120,000 in.
Then some games you have the sky money, plus cup run monies..

This is pretty much spot on. Yes we would all love for somebody with deeper pockets and with hindsight a better footballing nose for appointments but at least SS has the club at heart and is a ‘safe pair of hands’ and deserves some credit & respect.
Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for there are plenty of cowboys, get rich quick merchants & plastic millionaires out there. Let’s all hope that the right person(s) come along with a big pot of gold and a plan to match the ambitions. Until then let’s just be thankful we have a club we can now all get behind & support🧡

I went to a diolouge meeting.
There was a flip chart showing Simon would be pumping £90 million in over a ten year period.
Thought that was a smokescreen,it was for some, maybe those the club hand picked to attend the meeting.
Meeting was a farce.

Yes I keep banging on about it,I am a very passionate supporter (over 50 years).
When we got rid of the oystons, then Simon bought the club,I was the happiest supporter in the land, the dream owner we were all talking about.
But now I don’t think so.
To be fair to Simon,he did say he knew nothing about running a football club.
The personnel he has employed,I think have let him down big style.
Every club need some kind of football knowledge in the boardroom.
But Simon these people cost money.

Sorry do disagree with most of your points Curryman.
But that is your opinion, which I respect.
The flags were took down for another reason, not to be washed and cleaned, the club made excuses for that, when a handful of supporters went to the club,to ask about the flags.
Be careful though you will be getting an invite to the moreti club.
Simon loves these kind of posts.Reading posts like this,he thinks the club is run properly.
But realistically it is a shambles.

So £300,000 a game,over the season =£6,900,000.
Then you’ve added another optimistic £100,000,(where ya got ya figures from for that)
So we'll give you that one( Simon won’t be happy though, lol).
That’s another 1/3 of income,I will work it out for you, that’s another ,£2,300,000.
Then the club have advertising income, cup runs, sky money.

Who’s on £5k a week.The club stuttered on £200 a week,allegedly Colby wanted £4k a week,club offered £3800.He signed for portsmouth the same afternoon.
Club said there was a medical issue, not bad though,he went onto score 20+ goals for them.
Just think those 20+ goals might have saved us from the drop.

I know, I was the same but I guess a few factors have affected things. Who knows what impact Covid had on his business, relegation from the Championship was a big blow and now this court case is looming. Add to that his naivety/inexperience in the football world, others in key roles letting the club down and you end up in a bit of a mess. I do wonder if some of the passion has been drawn from him given the amount of criticism that is being aimed at him and the upper echelons of the club. Hopefully a few wins will calm everyone down and the recruitment team play a blinder in January.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine and as a supporter of 70 years, I've seen the club in regular decline during that time, with one or two bright spots. As someone else has said, be careful what you wish for.

I feel that we have the right man in charge, it seems however that the people he has relied on have been less that worthy of their positions and the advice he has been given, has been less than adequate.

I'm sure you will remember a judge announcing that the Oyston family had removed around £18m, or thereabouts from the club. He purchased a club in distress and lot has gone against him since, COVID was mentioned in another post. So all in all it appears we will have to agree to disagree.

You know that as a fact do you?
It was a figure to use as an example.
So call it 2.5 K a week.....that employs 12....what about coaching staff, CEO, recruitment team, physics, club doctor, groundsmen, accountant, coach travel, junior players wages, away hotels, pre season training camps in Spain....I could go on but you wouldn't be able to comprehend that, if you think the fans contribute enough money to keep it afloat.....

I think they all have been to date, hopefully it will be the last.
Herts be careful what you wish for!
There have been some terrible foreign owners who have completely bankrupted clubs.
I realise the Oystons weren’t great to say the least, but we never went into administration
I just wish Simon would improve his communication skills and converse more with supporters

If we got some backsides on seats we would generate more money.
Plus Simon is on record saying, ask Harry,he’s got all the figures, his cronies laughed.
They’re not laughing now though.

Yes I agree,I was hoping to be near the top six come january.
Then see what he gave Bruce to bring in some qaulity.

How much does a long distance away game cost the club? Coach, hotel, meals etc.

It's not cheap.

Maybe, but as we're not in the middle of the country, presumably that means we'll be paying out more?
Club can still be self funding and show a profit if the product is good(winter),
along with the club being run properly,in my opinion.

What I will agree on with the o/p is that whoever is next I want to have serious money.
Am sick of being the Tier 3 side and we need to get back to the Championship minimum and we know that costs money.

There should be an IQ test for people to be able to have an account on here.

Go back to school.
